  1. One of the reasons I became a Latic (on a regular basis) was visiting the ground when I was in the cubs and getting to play on the pitch.
  2. Milk is a price inelastic product. You could change the price of milk and demand would always be constant. CD's and Jumpers - have you purchased these items in the last 50 years. There are always incentives. Maybe you may have heard about the January Sales. Obviously not a business man. Saying that, I think we have got a price inelastic product at Oldham. Though if the supply improved, maybe the demand would to.
  3. To be honest I don't think incentives will work. Its more about having entertainment i.e. the chance of promotion and entertaining football that will get the fans in. Yes the die hards are keeping the club rolling over but its just as much TTA. I hope they havent given up on the extra fans, because I think that will mean they will have given up on the club. The point being is that in any business, the loyal are the most worthless in financial terms. Why, because if your attracting the not so loyal you are doing well, just look at any mobile phone contract and you will see how the newbys get more attention paid to them that the old and loyal.
  4. Surely you buy in the hope that you do get the good football and promotion though. At the end of the day though, you are the sort that TTA are probably not that bothered about. You're loyal and as you have just said you will continue to pay the money. What they will be more bothered about is how to attract the extra people that will enable the club to break even and obviously them people don't share your view.
  5. Hmmm twist my words why don't you. I was making the point that TTA has correctly planned to make a surplus and so there was no planned shortfall that could impact on the clubs finances. I deliberately left out the word "profit" for the exact same reason you have stated above. Education is the key though, not jumping down peoples throats on the defensive.
  6. Shortfall - I was always lead to believe there would be a surplus.
  7. I sat 4 yards away from Sharp and I don't think I heard him say anything to the team from the bench in all the time he was there. The guy lacked the personality of a manager and was appointed because Stott thought he could control him. In hindsight Sharp says that he never really stood up to the board and he didn't know what tools he had to do the job when he accepted it. That smacks of naiviety. Ritchie wasn't chosen because he had charisma and people skills and would have stood up to Stott. As for a financial decision - yes it was but we were getting parachute payments from the prem.
  8. I would still a say there would be little delay. At the moment devolpers have lots of money to spend and there is a shortage of land. I think if we were going to sell it off in 2 years then we may have more of a problem. At the end of the day developers need to build houses or they won't have a business. So I think our valuation will be met.
  9. TTA are selling the land to a development partner, they are not building the flats. House prices have stagnated but demand for housing still outstrips supply. There are plenty of developers with lots of money who will still want this land and I would say its still very sort after being the lack of quality flats in Oldham, the transport links and key worker accomodation. There shouldn't be many problems.
  10. Not heard anything about it and ive been on here and on the fish site enough, oh i mean working today.
  11. I've heard we might be in for a ball boy from Gretna, they can't afford them there.
  12. I'm sorry but its forest not Yeovil or Tranmere. Good chance of the Championship next season, probably fair wage and not far from Cov. Not sure how it's that realistic an opportunity.
  13. Interesting poll in that all of the points are continually raised and are continually debated and therefore, by there nature cannot be deemed to be that boring. I vote for none-topical debate to be the most boring!!!
  14. 4-5-1 said it all really. Thats why people thought we had lost before a game had been kicked. Though I had pointed out that things would change in the second half. To be honest I hope Sat was a one off for Shez's tactics were of Ronnie proportions first half
  15. Does anyone remember the big meeting we had a couple of years ago in the Rochdale Road end. Don't think TTA said anything about just existing, they were putting up the season ticket prices to fund our push for promotion. Don't think we should get rid of shez but an old hand to help and learn from might be good as he's making mistakes.
  16. It looked to me like he didn't go for the ball and was a high tackle. If he would have got past him it would have been a free shot, the defenders wouldn't have been in a good position to block even though they were back and it would have been at an angle. If he made an attempt to get the ball it would have been yellow, but no attempt was made I feel. So Red.
  17. Shez maybe not the best. But neither were the other 41 managers since we had Royle either. Dowie had money so is an anomoly and he didn't get us promoted anyway. On that basis were not going to get anything but instability from losing shez and the new manager won't be any better anyway. I don't think Shez is exactly the brightest man in the world but in the real world, experience normally means 5 years plus at least. Get an old hand in to help him.
  18. I will agree 100% that people need to chant for their to be noise. People are chanting though, not enough maybe but nonetheless people are chanting. Therefore if we give the chanting fans the tools to make there chanting more efficient then maybe we will see an improvement in noise levels throughout the ground. I'm pretty sure I am the missing link though - just need a decent stand to be built first
  19. Firstly I cannot comment on Bristol because I wasn't there and I don't know what the ground is like. However I do know enough about how sound waves work to say that both the Chaddy and Blackpool stand reduce the amount of noise that can be produced. In regards to Blackpool, people were trying to sing but the noise produced was rubbish. The fact that there was no roof to give shelter from the high winds meant that the chants did not carry very well. At the end of the day I am in complete agreement that more people need to sing and I have said that for many a year. However, to just say that is the only issue is foolish. When it comes to most problems there are nomally several contributing factors and to increase the success of the solution, all factors should be looked at. In this case a stand with better acoustics would be better and in a Rocky Vs Chaddy fight, rocky would win. At the end of the day though, if we get the chaddy sorted out then this discussion becomes null and void. Hmm you don't care if the wing stands can't hear you. Well how does that improve the overall atmosphere at the game????? I'm also a lot more noiser on my own than most of the chaddy anyway. On a different note, went to see Sale play last night. Was in Stockports new end stand. Pretty impressive, good views and accoutics but absolultley no room what so ever.
  20. At least no one is cynical about getting a response.
  21. Except do we actually know if Bell is any good? You can't say two players are the same just because they are similar ages and experience.
  22. So how is a stand that has a downward sloping roof which reflects sound waves back so that some don't reach the pitch not have a problem with the acoustics? Yeah if people sing then it will be loud, but it could be louder. Check out the highlights of the Blackpool play off game and you can hear who is the loudest - the Rocky.
