According to my dad, it's Johnny Divers. A Scottish international in the 30's and 40's. Legend has it, he fell down the steps on his way out to make his debut and never played a single minute for Oldham after that.
Chonburi - My local club. I'm a season ticket holder and go to most away games as well. I also run an independent Chonburi FC website.
Burton Albion - Moved to the Burton area in 1975. My mum and dad still live there. Although it would be unbearable if they were playing at a higher level than us next season!
Kendal Town (formerly Netherfield) - Lived in Kendal during the late 80's and early 90s. A really friendly non league club.
Carlisle Utd - A lot of my mates from Kendal are Carlisle fans and I'd go and watch them occasionally.
One of my mates is an Everton coach. He wants the Toffees to win 5-3 and Jose to get a hat-trick. Me - I want us to win 5-3 and Jose to score Hat-trick:-)
It was just exciting watching it from my armchair. Although I shudder when I think just how close I came to being decapitated by the ceiling fan when I leaped in the air.
This article sums up what being a lifelong Latics fan means to me http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hero-matt-smith-dry-mighty-1326926
Brilliant :-)
I've just shown the original post to my Red Scouse mate and colleague. He loved it.
I posted on another thread that he thought we deserved the win and is mystified why any of his fellow fans should think otherwise.
Please don't tar them all with the same brush.
They're not all like that. I work with a Scouser - a lifelong Red. He was very gracious in defeat and said we deserved it. However, we both agreed, that had Gerrard started, it might have been a different story.
But he didn't and it isn't. :-)
The 73/74 season. As a young lad, this was the most incredible period to be a Latics fan. Great players, success, full houses and Sir Jimmy Frizzell as manager. Magical times. :-)
It's an 11:00pm kick off for me.
I can't wait. I've already tipped off a few of my colleagues (including some Liverpool fans) that I won't be at work on Monday morning if we win.
