  1. Dunn isn't good enough for the role, similar record to Kelly and we struggled to beat a chairman-managed Swindon for his only victory. They players we have got are much better than 2 wins this season, we should be a mid-table side minimum. Roughly 12 months ago we went to Spotland and turned over a good Rochdale side 3-0, we looked classy, a side that could go on and be well in the play offs. We are a shadow of that side now. Problem after problem ever since then, lots of mismanagement. The board have really messed up this last year. Trying to sign Evans, letting LJ go, appointing DH season over, new stand taking forever to open, appointing Darren Kelly but keeping Dunn in the shadows, then appointing him and things not improving! The board feels like Phoenix Nights, going from one bad decision to another.
  2. Wouldn't Redfearn have been better watching Doncaster then so he knows the squad he's taking on rather than the opposition he'd be playing. If I was about to take over Doncaster, I'd be watching Doncaster.
  3. I wouldn't call any of them dinosaurs. All had recent experience of taking their previous teams up, twice. Weren't good enough for Oldham though.
  4. Maybe he would have, we'll never know because the fans weren't happy with his style of play. Plus he was off to Tranmere anyways.
  5. Sounds like it'll be Redfearn but can be a rookie or someone with experience, we've done alright appointing rookies in the past and shouldn't be put off because it hasn't worked with Kelly. Our last experienced managers have been Penney, Moore, Talbot. Are you sure you want someone experienced?
  6. We're 12th in the league. We've not lost a league game this season. I'd say he's doing alright so far.
  7. I've been a fan of Oldham Athletic since 1989, back when Joe Royle was the manager and I thought that Darren and Barry did a good job tonight. There were a lot of phone-in coaches tonight, Darren did explain how things were done on Saturday, why players played where they did and he offered reasons to why Forte was played upfront on his own. Pace and Power. We're trying to get a striker in and it's obvious losing Cassidy (he's injured) has been a big blow to the system Darren wants to play. I agree Forte is good out wide but he did very well upfront as well last season, his headed goal last season I forget who it was against shows we could do with him in the middle rather than out wide. Barry went out of his way many times tonight to thank the fans for their support, it would be difficult to sustain ourselves in the Championship, it's probably the same as the Old Division 1/Premier League was when we were there before. Top teams spending millions on players and we won't even get close to breaking our transfer record. Doesn't mean we can't give it a go like we did. I don't think he criticised the fans once tonight so he's learning.
  8. I thought we were playing well up until they made their subs after the penalty. Started a bit slow but got better and were edging a pretty even encounter. Half an hour in we were starting to dominate a bit more, how many through balls into an offside Forte? Great effort off the bar. Shrewsbury's coaches were trying to get more out of their players in the last 15 minutes as they weren't closing down or putting in enough effort. Started much the better in the second half and took the lead and maybe could have made it 2 from the restart. Shrewsbury made their changes and the game swung their way. We couldn't cope with it for a while but somehow managed to hold on. Taking Croft and Dunn off didn't help, probably needed a rest but the replacements weren't much upto it. Kelly had a decent chance when Philliskirk played him in. Turner could have been brought on earlier maybe, started to have more control of the game then. I didn't like the punted balls down the wing to Forte, looked so Sunday League. Might as well accept the money for him if we can't get him to play. 2 goals in 17 from him. it wasn't good from us after the Shrewsbury Subs, as the home team we should be looking to take the game to them but we really struggled. We should have beaten Colchester and we should have beaten Shrewsbury. Still unbeaten and in the top half. Big test at free-scoring Bury next week.
  9. It's a good move from Kelly using this company, it was his first interview to become a manager wasn't it? Can't imagine it would be easy to get a job first go without some help. He didn't even have Dalglish/Robson etc to put in a good word for him. From recent interviews there doesn't to be any issue with his job being under threat so soon. Just got to hope he will be a good manager for us.
  10. I think people just don't like to see their money wasted, especially when it's for a specific purpose. The money is supposed to be for funding players wages/transfer fees. It's good that it hasn't cost PlayerShare anything in the end.
  11. I think we're waiting for Kelly to say a performance wasn't good enough and it needs to improve. 3-1 to League 2 Carlisle was a bad performance but he was still positive about it. Can't have a performance/result like that against Walsall and say the same. I'm sure we will do just fine though.
  12. From what I saw last season he seemed to make himself available, move around the pitch when there wasn't much chance of the ball getting to him but when he had a much better chance of him getting the ball or chasing down a ball he had a good chance of winning he didn't make enough effort to get there. He was very frustrating to watch even if he wasn't being played correctly.
  13. Thought Brown did very well at the end of the season, think he got a few Man of the Match awards? Seemed to be a nuisance to the opposition, especially against Port Vale. Think on the back of that he'll have got the nod ahead of Wilson who didn't have a bad season either.
  14. 'It looks like he's got his shooting boots and his heading boots on today' Steve Claridge
  15. I think he was probably on his way out soon anyways after the bad results in December and LJ leaving him out of the squad entirely. Might just be a mutual decision so he can head back to Switzerland, if he already said he wanted to head back then the decision is already made.
  16. Why what was there to hide? He's a football manager not a criminal on the run!
  17. Hopefully that won't be the case. Hopefully you'll still have the bug to go to the game as you all support OAFC and not the Chaddy End.
  18. Maybe the last game of the season can be Chaddy End Day, everyone can go in and mourn its passing to away fans. Everyone can remember the memories of being in there and sing loudly. Peterborough might bring a few taxi loads so chances are the RRE will be moved there anyways.
  19. The move does make sense. No messing around fans. How many would be against the move? How many won't go again? We need all the fans we can get but if it's a small figure then it should be fine.
  20. And if they asked at the Preston game it was full of people who normally go in the RRE anyway but couldn't because Preston were in town.
  21. One of Dowie's strengths was to get a side well organised and to fight for each other. He was helped with money in the play off season but he also created a side out of nothing when in administration that were surviving fine with him in charge. He spent money but he also brought in Hall, Andrews and Cooksey probably for very little and got the best out of Darren Sheridan.
  22. According to Rhys in the programme we had already signed him to join in the summer but we pushed the transfer through. Wonder if there are other players out there on similar deals?
