  1. Latics fans on the board. Latics fans building the new stand. All intent on shafting the club they love?
  2. Lets just get more fans in the ground!
  3. I think it's a bit backwards to force fans to move stands. We should be trying to encourage more people to attend home matches more regulary, have more fans in all stands and then no matter where you choose to sit you'll get a good atmosphere. Closing stands to fans isn't progressive, it just continues the long, slow decline we have seen. Encourage the fans to come back.
  4. Just wait until you hear the price for those who want to sit in there who don't have a Season Ticket currently. The £30 might be cheap in comparison.
  5. If he was born on or after 1st September 2002 he qualifies for a Under 12's ticket.
  6. Would be great if the club followed the announcement up by trying to encourage new fans to buy a Season Ticket. Have an open day of some sort to coincide with the North Stand being completed and have people around from the club and Zebra Finance explaining the benefits etc and signing people up on the day. Might just get us some extra fans in the ground.
  7. Fully intend on getting a season ticket next season. Missed it too much this season but haven't been able to afford. Hope Zebra Finance do the interest-free version if you pay in just 3 installments.
  8. Why do we put these appearance clauses in if we aren't prepared to pay them when they are about to come into effect? Seems a bit silly to keep putting these clauses in for it to cause selection problems later on. I suggest that it's not the reason why Byrne was eventually let go. Byrne was a solid defender but nothing special, LJ probably wants more out of a defender than just being solid.
  9. Fans moan when we bring loan signings in because we aren't using our current youth players and then we get topics saying the youth players aren't good enough for the first-team! Players such as Winchester and Mellor need to get out on loan to a club in a lower division and get some games in and hopefully improve there. Mellor is a MC but he's got plenty ahead of him in the queue at the moment. Need to get these players out on loan in January. We have plenty of options not to miss these players in the short-term.
  10. Pleased to hear TP has got another contract. I think Simon Cooper too has been a very good addition to the youth coaching setup as well. What with LJ using the youngsters more and having the youngsters learn the same systems and roles that the first-team use so they are better prepared when the time comes to setup I can see even more success being created in an already successful youth system.
  11. Who was Oldham's left back in the 1981-82 season? Got a shirt from that season with number 3 on the back.
  12. If all they wanted to do was make money on the land why haven't they just sold it? If that's all they were interested in doing I'd say they've done an awful job of it.
  13. No reason to overreact. Punish him for the sending off then get him working hard in training to prove himself again.
  14. What we need is more fans paying £20. If we don't have cup runs we don't break even charging £20 and we won't get double the amount of fans coming in if we charged £10. The new stand will generate more revenue through the facilities it will have.
  15. Off the pace because he had very little pre-season time? There's your answer. Should be supporting him instead of having a go.
  16. I didn't go to the game yesterday I was at work. I've just watched the highlights from the game and from it you would think Oldham were unlucky. Had plenty of chances to score, good chances too but didn't. Walsall had a couple of chances and scored from a well worked move that got a bit of luck and was finished very well. Yesterdays result looks more frustrating and disappointing than worrying.
  17. A managers job is to get results. Not show fans we're wrong and lose the game in the process.
  18. Have you not got a letter saying you are going to a uni? Could use something like that.
  19. Latics teams of old would have struggled to get back into a game like yesterday let alone against a side managed by Westley. His teams usually love to frustrate and nullify attacks by closing down and if needs be bringing the opposition player down. Stevenage will be one of the most organised sides we face this season and I can't say they had a bad game at all. They just couldn't cope with our attack at times, they couldn't get us out of their half for the early parts of the second half. All that pressure and goals are inevitable, we bombarded them. To score 4 goals against a side that played well at the back, are so organised and made it difficult is fantastic to see. We have nothing to fear this season if can carry on attacking like we did Korey Smith was immense, led by example, so good on the ball and getting out of tricky situations. LJ has performed miracles to get a player like him to League One. The defence needs working on and Mellor worried me a few times, he did a decent job but he looks out of position and Stevenage tried capitalising on that by hoofing the ball in his direction and having Tounkara challenge him, he didn't seem to have that spring to go up for headers. He did a good job though and his distribution out of defence was fantastic, saw passes that I didn't think were on but he made it work.
