  1. Latics finished 19th in the old Division 4 in the 1969-70 season. Mouldy Old Dough, by Lieutenant Pigeon, was released in 1972. According to Wikipedia it was written by Nigel Fletcher and Rob Woodward, and recorded in the front room of Woodward's Coventry home. It featured his mother Hilda Woodward on piano. The words were a comment on the decimal currency recently introduced to the United Kingdom. It is the only British number one single to feature mother and son. I can remember seeing the band, with back to back pianos, on TOTP, and hearing this 'new' song at BP. It always reminds me of Latics and BP!
  2. If the process of legal appeals is as slow as it normally is, we won't have an MP until the next general election!!! Woolas' first application for a judicial review was rejected today at the High Court. Judge Mr Justice Silber said it was "not amenable to judicial review because it is a decision of High Court judges sitting in their capacity as High Court judges". He said it was "settled law" that the decisions of High Court judges sitting in their capacity as High Court judges "cannot be subject of applications for judicial review". That's crystal clear then!!!
  3. Can I just say that I quite liked Phil Woolas. Now, why did I type past tense?? Will all of this have any impact on Latics, as I thought we got more support from Woolas than we did from Michael Meacher?
  4. "Right decision, wrong time" says Paul Dickov about the game being called off. The conditions were the same at 6pm!
  5. Keep your stubs says the man from Rochdale on Radio Manchester.
  6. Davies and Whitaker score for Chesterfield, with Lomax and Smalley warming their bench!
  7. Simon Corney, on Radio Manchester, has said that Latics fans won't have to pay for their ticket for the rearranged match, although we've not heard from Rochdale yet! Hope everyone has kept their ticket stubs!
  8. You could wear a badge saying "I'm LaticsLee and I do it for free" Poundland is moving to the old Woolworth's store in the High Street
  9. It's our secret weapon and we've just invaded your computer!
  10. The new series of 'Heroes' begins 9 pm Tuesday!
  11. I did this (non scientific) poll to see broadly where the bulk of Latics fans lived, and whether it should have any impact on the proposed move to Failsworth. However, I’ve no idea whether OWTB members are similar to the rest of the Latics supporters? The places in the poll were based on the original creation of the Oldham Metropolitan Borough, namely the 5 towns of Oldham, Chadderton, Failsworth, Royton and Shaw, and the villages of Lees and Saddleworth. I was surprised to see that over 50% lived outside of the Oldham borough, although I’m presuming the overwhelming majority of these originate from the town or borough? Looking at singe’s previous poll of last year, 9.78% lived in the Rochdale borough and 8.20% lived in the Tameside borough. Another way of looking at my poll is that just under 95% live outside of the town of Oldham, with Royton being the hotbed of Latics fans with just over 15%. If, and I know it’s still a big if, Latics do eventually move to Failsworth then I’ll be there, although it will be further for me to travel. Like a lot of people I have a sentimental attachment to Boundary Park, and I still sit in the same area where my dad first took me to watch the tangerine and blues a very long time ago. My preferred option, of the various plans that have come and gone over the years, was the Sports Park 2000 plan. However, time marches on and I believe we have to move from our outdated and crumbling stadium if we are going to survive as a football league club. One more statistic – according to the 2001 census the borough of Oldham had a population of 217,273. Just under 1.7% of this figure turned up to support Latics at Boundary Park on Saturday!
  12. Chesterfield has a capacity of approximately 10,400 and cost £13,000,000 to build. The Colchester Stadium was built at Cuckoo Farm, on the northern outskirts of Colchester. The stadium has a capacity of about 10,000, with potential to increase to 18,000, and cost £14 million, largely paid for by Colchester Borough Council and Colchester United with additional grants from the Football Foundation, the Communities and Local Government and the East of England Development Agency. According to one report the council 'loaned' the club £10m!! I presume a 12,000 seater stadium at Failsworth would cost around £15-£16m. Would selling all of BP raise this amount? I'm presuming we wouldn't get a multi million loan from Oldham Council!!
  13. Ah, I forgot about this previous poll. Maybe, some people have moved address in the last 12 months!!
  14. More than 2 people live in Failsworth - oh, I see what you mean!
