I understand that after 17 years Mike Yarwood has been made redundant at the Oldham Chronicle. Although Tony Bugby has written on Latics before, I will personally miss Mike's reports from Boundary Park. Apologies if this has appeared in an earlier topic. Anybody have any views?

TOP scorer Lee Hughes can leave Athletic for £400,000 during next month’s transfer window. A release clause in the striker’s contract allows him to quit Boundary Park if any club comes up with the minimum offer. The decision would be taken out of Athletic’s hands and, although no bids have been received, there is a distinct chance of rivals teams exploiting the situation.

Very sad news. It's a crying shame that he couldn't have at least lived a little longer to see the birth of his baby. RIP Ernie and thanks for the memories.

I received a noncommittal reply from Cllr Beeley and nothing from Cllr Lord. I’ll be voting for a certain John Battye, who at least is a big Latics fan! It probably won’t make a lot of difference as the Lib Dems always seem to get in here. But at least I’ve had my say. Ditto on the 'didiculously' overpriced logo!

We all know that the prevarications of Oldham Council have delayed, and almost derailed, Latics’ stadium development plans. On May 1st there are elections to the Council, and no doubt many people will have received leaflets from the various candidates. In November 2007 I sent an email to my 3 local councillors, including Cllr Val Sedgwick (Lib Dem, Saddleworth West and Lees), asking her to support Oldham Athletic’s stadium redevelopment plans, which as we all know were originally refused by the local planning committee. As I’d not had a reply after more than 2 weeks I sent a written letter as a reminder to Cllr Sedgwick in December 2007. To this day I’ve still not had a reply. Now Val Sedgwick is standing for re-election and asking for my vote. As she can’t be bothered replying to my correspondence, I can’t be bothered voting for her. I’d also urge other Latics’ supporters to only support candidates or councillors who have supported the club’s vital redevelopment plans. This is one of the few occasions our voices can be heard.

How about a punt on Stuart Fleetwood, young striker 21 playing for Forest Green, who has scored 30 goals in 32 games. Crewe, Gillingham and Cheltenham are believed to be chasing him but he could he be worth a gamble? Maybe we should stop chasing reserve players from the Championship who still think they are worth £7k to £10k a week. Remember where Fitz Hall and Wayne Andrews came from?

Have the club been a victim of ballot rigging, an internet scam, or is it just that OWTB members have good taste? Fluo Yellow? You know when you have been sick so many times that all you’re bringing up is liquid bile? The colour is fluo yellow!

Like a lot of you I'd stick to tangerine and blue. It reminds me of my first Latics game (1970) and my last Latics game (Everton). However, if I had to choose I would prefer the Navy and Burgundy. The Fluo Yellow and Powder Blue strips look awful!

Alan Hardy on Five Live suggested that Huddersfield will be given all the RRE. If we can get our home form in order it's a great opportunity to progress to the 5th round, and another payday!!
