  1. Maybe it's just a marketing ploy, but I won't be happy if we move away from blue and white! Don't forget to vote - and vote LABOUR.
  2. A different shade of blue is not a different colour. White is not classed as a colour either - is it?
  3. I'd go for the blue and white halves (with the broad blue stripe down the middle), which we had for over 40 years until the late 1960s. It would be as unique as Bristol R or Blackburn R. I'm not very keen on the blue shirts with white sleeves though. A bit like Arsenal in blue!
  4. Sh*t, now I'm tempted to renew! Maximum price for a st before 21 May is £299. But, if we get relegated or Penney is still in charge?
  5. I'll delay renewing my S/T if Penney is still in charge. From the comments made recently by Simon Corney and Alan Hardy, I have a feeling that Penney may still be here at the beginning of next season! I hope I'm wrong. Any other names in the frame other than Gannon?
  6. bob - You win the 1st prize, which is 24 hours with Dave Penney!!!
  7. One of the objections to the club's move to a new stadium could be lifted as Oldham Council today logged a written request to the Royal Mail to change the Failsworth post code from M35 to OL35. This would bring all the borough under the OL postal district. Details of the request should be available on the council's website before noon today.
  8. I agree that repeating something twice doesn’t necessarily make it true, but seeing it with my own eyes does! In all my years of sitting (and standing) in the main stand paddock I’ve never seen any trouble from the home supporters. As such the behaviour of the stewards was, to say the least, a little strange. I can only conclude that someone at the club was worried about how the home fans would react to DP if we were losing? One or two of the home fans were taking the mickey out of these stewards, which was certainly more entertaining than some of the football on display!
  9. No - but I don't plan to renew my season ticket if we get relegated OR if Dave Penis is still Manager.
  10. What has it come to when Dave Penney is so unpopular that he has to be protected from Latics (2700)supporters by the club's own stewards? I can remember demonstrations outside the ground against Graeme Sharp and calls for Ronnie Moore's head, but I've never seen stewards organise to protect an under fire Manager before! Is Dave Penney the most unpopular Manager in the club's history?
  11. What has it come to when Dave Penney is so unpopular that he has to be protected from Latics supporters (all 2700 of them!) by the club's own stewards?
  12. According to the Oldham Advertiser: "Oldham Council is to forge ahead with plans to allow Oldham Athletic to build a new stadium in Failsworth by registering the disputed land as a charitable trust. As part of the 'scheme' it will apply to the Charity Commission for permission to swap the charitable status of 8.6 acres of land north of the Lancaster Club with an as yet unidentified site. The council hopes this will appease residents opposed to losing the swathes of grassland to a 12,000 seater stadium and community facilities, and allow the stalled development to progress. Following expert legal advice the council has finally accepted that the land has charitable status after months of discussion with the regulator were inconclusive." Is that clear? Sounds a bit like Clayton Playing Fields (Part 2)?
  13. How much would an Arsenal type painting of stand full of supporters cost! How much a week does the highest paid player receive (name not required)? What is the total wage bill for the last full year? Why does 1 company own the football club and another the stadium/land?
  14. What is the size of the (ex) BAe site, compared to the size of BP? Could we manage without the additional 11.75 acres that's in dispute? Just a thought! Answers in acres please!
  15. Not quite! I read somewhere that Latics would buy the BAe site on the proviso that the council would agree to lease the club the adjacent land. Watch this space!
  16. Negative stories are usually on the front page, with positive stories on the inner pages. This is a non-decision by the Charity Commission.
  17. The stadium will be a sponsor's name. However, the 4 stands could be: The Oldham Road Stand The Boundary Stand The Broadway Stand The Chadderton Stand
  18. Failsworth is a town in Lancashire and also part of the Oldham borough for the last 35 years. It's not a suburb of Manchester. Say YES to Failsworth.
  19. This is not a serious thread as you're blaming TTA. Anyone else looking to invest £10m in Latics? Didn't think so!
  20. It's good to read a positive article about the new stadium in The Chron for a change, and supported with some facts and statistics. This part compensates for the anti-Latics propaganda that has appeared in the news pages over recent weeks.
