  1. One interesting aspect of The Chron's coverage is the on-line feedback on various stories. Following the 'Plot Holders Dig in, etc' story there were quite a number of comments. About 8 were critical of The Chron's coverage with 2 comments supporting the editorial line. In today's paper The Chron printed 2 comments, 1 in favour and 1 critical. Talk about bias reporting! Moreover, in today’s paper there is also an editorial criticising Latics for daring to question The Chron! What is going on at the paper? Is Jim Williams, who I remember as a Latics reporter years ago, still the editor?
  2. As long as we get a stadium that can easily be expanded to a capacity of 15,000+ I'll be happy. Money and need permitting of course!
  3. No doubt there will be another Clayton Action Group/Local Residents Group/NIMBY Group set up in opposition to these latest plans. Echoes of Sports Park 2000 and the Boundary Park Re-development plans?
  4. Isn't the blue a little too close to the colour of our home kit? What happens if we play a team in all dark blue?
  5. Porter was 23, but it was reported at the time that if he joined a Championship or League 1 side we would get compensation!!
  6. Good question, and back on topic! Both players were 23 or under. Chris Porter moved from England to Scotland 2 years ago and we got no compensation. Dean Furman moves from Scotland to England this year and we have to pay £50k compensation. Why? The rules can't be different for Scotland and England?

  8. Best news of the day. That's cheered me up. LOL.

    Season Tickets

We have to be realistic as we've only sold about 1000 season tickets to date, and the discount period has almost ended!
  11. It's all academic as we've only sold about 1000 season tickets, and the discount period has almost ended!
  12. If this doesn't put a thousand on the gate against Tranmere nothing will.
  13. Totally agree. Thanks Shez for 10 years service as player, coach and manager. Give it a while and you'll be welcomed back like the other legends.
  14. From the rarely wrong Chron. Athletic have disciplined three employees following the function at the dog track. The club has not named them but is understood captain Sean Gregan has been fined the maximum amount of two weeks wages while Sheridan and Hughes have been severely censured and warned as to their future conduct.
  15. The whole point of writing a blog is that it's your blog, your views, your opinions. I can just about accept being misquoted in the tabloids or lost in translation - but misquoted in a blog! Come on! I'm now waiting for Latics side of the story, about how Windars has made 10 appearances out of a possible 11 in only 2 months. The fact that he has scored only 1 goal, which averages out at 4 or 5 goals a season. Or, along with 4 other players, he deserved to be dropped after the debacle of a performance against Bristol Rovers, and then expected a boss to change a winning side. Or, how he then behaved like a spoilt brat and spat his dummy. Now he's trying to do a bigger u-turn than a disgraced politician!
  16. "ATHLETIC rushed through the loan signing of Wolves player Daniel Jones (pictured inset) 15 minutes before the transfer window shut. But a move for another unnamed player broke down, although that deal could be resurrected as an emergency loan later this month. In a busy day at Boundary Park, striker Chris O’Grady was loaned to Coca-Cola League One rivals Stockport County for the remainder of the campaign just after hours after he returned from a spell at Bradford City. Striker Craig Davies completed his transfer to Brighton for an undisclosed six-figure sum, which is understood to be more than £100,000. The reason Jones’ loan move to the end of the season went down to the wire is because of his currently injury situation. He is recovering from the ankle ligament damage sustained in his initial loan spell with Athletic in December. An agreement has been struck whereby Athletic don’t pay any of Jones’ wages until he resumes playing. He is expected to be back in action for the trip to Yeovil on February 21. Jones, who impressed during his initial two-months at Boundary Park, will provide more options on the left. Manager John Sheridan’s move for a second player failed because of circumstances at the player’s club. O’Grady, who has had temporary spells at Bury and Bradford already this season, was unable to cross the Pennines to sign his forms. But Athletic chief executive Alan Hardy got round the problem by faxing the paperwork to a post office near to O’Grady’s home and the striker was able to sign and return the forms." Apart from the usual suspects, has anyone any idea who the 'unnamed' 2nd player was?
