And how much of the new optimism is because of the energy, passion and drive of PD & GT? Compared to last season where things were probably at their lowest i can remember as a Latics fan, the atmosphere surrounding the club (bar the state of the ground) is unrecognisable from Penney's dark days. Seems like Dickov's prescence around the club has given everyone a lift, including SC and its great to see.

I think the most likely scenario is that we agreed to pay a % of their wages until they got themselves fixed up with a new club. In the case of Worthy, Holdsworth, Purdie etc they got sorted out straight away so they are off the books. After all its in the interest of both parties to make any potential move as smooth as possible.

To be fair to Black, he wasnt the only one to come out of last season with zero credit at all. The whole team had any creative flair and confidence beaten out of them by Penney. Black has a chance this season under Dickov to kick on, and im sure Dickov is keen to encourage the likes of Black to do so, and will give them the arm round the shoulder and encouragement as and when its needed. Its possible he could go backwards like Lomax and Smalley did, or its possible he could improve. In my opinion he has made progress this season and has impressed in several matches.
