  1. But does SC have the money to support a bid to move to another area? After the amount of money he has thrown at the Failsworth project, i cant see him willing to chuck more money at an alternative location with no guarenteed positive end result for it.
  2. Didnt we have Whaley on trial back when Shez was manager?
  3. Its amazing what happens when more than one player is allowed to cross the half way line isnt it. Ah well Penney's long gone now, as are most the deadwood he spunked last seasons budget on. Onwards and upwards under Dickov.
  4. Indeed, so will probably watch the game against the Trannies in front of the box with a takeaway!
  5. But surely to continue reckless spending is only prolonging the inevitable? Eventually the pot is going to run dry and then jobs are going to be lost anyway? It would have made more sense to have marched for a referendum on the EU that both Labour and Tories promised us? The amount of money we chuck into that Boys Club organisation year after year could have come in very handy to steer us clear of the mess we are in now. And the fact that we were still paying off our repatriations from the second world war up till a few years ago is even more reason to despair at Labour's reckless spending. You dont start spending out large sums of money on ideas (most of them doomed to fail) and throwing money at government QUANGOS etc, until you have your finances in order.
  6. Why are people so intent on marching against cuts? Has it ever occured to people that the reason we as a country are in this situation now is because of the recklessness of the former government? How do these people believe that we will get ourselves out of the financial mess we are in without doing it? Gormless Brown said no more boom or bust.......well he was right its just bust. We couldnt go on living under Labour's reckless spending policy much longer, so sadly, thanks to them, everyone has to suffer with the cuts. Im sure Cameron and Osborne would be more than willing to listen to alternative ideas about how to plug the massive gaping hole in the economy. Yes the cuts are crap and yes we are all suffering but the leftist socialist regime that was the Liebour party knew their policies would only work until they run out of spending other peoples money. Cuts are now part of the Broken and Bust Britain we now live in!
  7. And how much of the new optimism is because of the energy, passion and drive of PD & GT? Compared to last season where things were probably at their lowest i can remember as a Latics fan, the atmosphere surrounding the club (bar the state of the ground) is unrecognisable from Penney's dark days. Seems like Dickov's prescence around the club has given everyone a lift, including SC and its great to see.
  8. I think the most likely scenario is that we agreed to pay a % of their wages until they got themselves fixed up with a new club. In the case of Worthy, Holdsworth, Purdie etc they got sorted out straight away so they are off the books. After all its in the interest of both parties to make any potential move as smooth as possible.
  9. Whether we were robbed or not its still two more points thrown away. Any idea how many points we have dropped this season from winning positions?
  10. He'll take it on the chin i would imagine
  11. And also like Mike Ashley's mate now at Toon, you wouldnt want him near any female members of your family or your girlfriend!
  12. Also on the plus side it free ups another loan space to bring a striker in. Im sure our lack of firepower hasnt escaped Dickov's attention. Think we will have someone in before the deadline. Pleased we have got Evina on board as well.
  13. Isnt this what previous managers, rightly or wrongly have been accused of doing? Announcing intentions of signing players before the deal has been done, and then getting shat on by someone like Donny at the 11th hour and he signs for them?
  14. Anyone who does that to Phil Brown is ok with me. How long till he has his first training ground bust up with Chris Taylor?
  15. If true i think he is off. Going by how skint we are i dont think we would turn it down, but will just include some add ons to it.
  16. If we get there and win and get promoted i couldnt give a damn where it was played. As long as we get out of this awful division!
  17. Some interesting quotes taken from their messageboard. How familiar does this sound? "Dave Penney seems to have tightened up the defence... But no Midfield.. we were overun by theirs.. and I hate this long ball forward to two short forwards against four defenders..total rubbish" "How many shots on target the whole game... do you count k4s trickle towards line in first half.... other than thaty i dont think their goalkeeper had a shot to save..." "Hoskins and Kuffour worked hard all night but the delivery up to the front men was abysmal. I can't remember us having a 5 minute spell of pressure" "Penney , I think , set out to not concede"
  18. Maybe they might find Ronnie Moore's book of tactics as im sure that was written during prehistoric times
  19. Im sure i read a quote from Penny that he felt Rovers were lacking experience. So Penney's answer is to bring in an untried 18 year old Still at least he has extended his scouting radius to outside of Yorkshire.
  20. Ah yes indeed it was. See the big lump could do something useful........even though most of it was down to Eyres anticipation. Remember watching that at uni in a pub in Bath with the sound off. The pub was pretty quiet that night until i let out a massive cheer when we scored. Happy days!
  21. Dowie's play off season. 87th minute and Eyresie slides in back post to salvage a point. Now how we could do with someone like Eyres on the left wing!
  22. To be fair to Black, he wasnt the only one to come out of last season with zero credit at all. The whole team had any creative flair and confidence beaten out of them by Penney. Black has a chance this season under Dickov to kick on, and im sure Dickov is keen to encourage the likes of Black to do so, and will give them the arm round the shoulder and encouragement as and when its needed. Its possible he could go backwards like Lomax and Smalley did, or its possible he could improve. In my opinion he has made progress this season and has impressed in several matches.
