  1. Theres a few opinions on here knocking about about whether to sell Lee Hughes in January. Personally I think 400k is a good price for a 32 year old striker but I think that we need him for a chance of promotion this season. Sign him up and sell him in the summer if we miss out on promotion.
  2. Latest Sky Bet Odds: Poyet - 5/2 Boothroyd - 7/2 D Ferguson - 8/1 Grayson - 9/1 Davies - 10/1 Sheridan - 12/1 Dowie - 12/1 Ince - 16/1 Curbishley -16/1
  3. Well my seat is 'reserved' where the plastic meshing is over the seats. I just sit where I like and it doesnt bother me but if someone tries to move me at 2.55pm today because they've got a ticket there then they'll be told where to go.
  4. Leeds Waccoe Board has a poll running for their choice for next manager: Billy Davies - 26.62% Gus Poyet - 14.29% Aidy Boothroyd - 14.29% John Sheridan - 12.99% Simon Grayson - 6.49% Iain Dowie - 5.19% David O Dreary - 5.19% Joe Royle - 2.6% Gary Speed - 0.65% Steve Cotterill - 0.65% Other - 11.04% Some quotes: "Sheridan ALL the way" "Only Sheridan, of that bunch. Whether he's up to managing a club like Leeds compared to the low expectations around Oldham is another matter" "Could anyone explain what Sheridan has done as a manager that's worthy of such praise? He's a decent enough manager, but there are far better ones out there. McAllister is proving that sentiment counts for nothing. " "2nd Choice: John Sheridan- Doing a fantastic job at Oldham, tatically aware and think he would do wonders with the squad he would have available here. Oldham only have 16 fit players at the minute yet still pick up points against good teams" "Sheridan for me. Has the "pedigree" with the fans that is allowing Macca to balls up this season for us with only slight grumblings of complaint, BUT has proved that while he can't get Oldham out of this :censored: hole, he's done well to get them there or thereabouts. Who knows? With a decent team and some backing, he might just do it" "I have my doubts about Sheridan as he has no experience of getting a team promoted" I think it wouldn't be a wise move for Shez at this moment as a promotion with Oldham this year will probably help set up his future managerial career. A move to Leeds would bring a LOT of pressure and if he didn't do the business as fast as Leeds think they should, then he'd be back to square 1 with a dint in his name as a manager.
  5. Both goals he wasn't at fault and he commanded his area for 90 minutes, his kicking was spot on aswel. I was a bit nervous at first but he was in control in goal and I would trust him to take over if necessary in the future.
  6. or... the fact that BSKYB only care about selling advertising and that with Oldham, Leeds and Leicester being high up in League 1 then it might make some for a couple of interesting games on TV. Plus Lee Hughes hasn't gone anywhere. It's just a rumour - don't believe anything till its official!
  7. As much as I love the fact that Leeds got knocked out by a non league team, am I the only fan who wanted them and all the other decent league 1 sides to go through? As we concentrate on the league they get side tracked by their 3rd round games and maybe more after that. At the time when we got knocked out, I wasn't happy. But you look at what would of happened if we would of won and ended up with a draw to Doncaster after a nightmare trip to Morecambe. I just think that the FA Cup this year would be a distraction to us as we must finally get out of this division!
  8. I think with the right advertising around Oldham and the media, we can sell out Boundary park. But once we get the fan's in, make sure that they enjoy the match day experience. Make sure that there is enough hot & cold food available and beer service is fast. Have good half time entertainment and let the fan's create an atmosphere for which the 'floater's' will remember. When the fan's are leaving have leaflets advertising half season tickets and up and coming games. I presume we'll be up towards the top of the league so the part timers will want to jump on the wagon especially if we win so hopefully Latics can cash in with merchandise right before Christmas. But before all that we need to get them in so that should be the club's main aim before Christmas.
  9. 1. What really happened with Moussa Dabo last year? Did City pay us to have him as rumoured and why did it all go wrong? 2. Where does the club expect to be in 5 years time? 3. Any update on companies not paying for corporate facilities and any names of companies that didn't pay up?
  10. Maybe instead of having over 10 copper's in the ground doing nothing maybe they could patrol where the car's seem to get broken into every week? It only takes a couple of police to keep an eye on the car's to put off the thiefs doing it again. It is what we pay our taxes for..
  11. Home crowds so far: Walsall - 3936 (128) = 3808 Yeovil - 5318 (165) = 5153 Scunthorpe - 6057 (910) = 5147 Leicester - 8901 (2707) = 6194 Hereford - 5468 (334) = 5134 Huddersfield - 7418 (1730) = 5688 MK Dons - 5530 (305) = 5225 Cheltenham - 4673 (159) = 4514 Millwall - 5367 (510) = 4857 Average Home crowd = 5080 Average Crowd = 5852 We've got a problem if we get the lowest home gate this season when if we win we go into the play-off's. Sure the Oldham public are lazy and would rather sit at home watching United but how come Stockport could get 1000 more fan's than us? Being a cold night is no excuse as the Scunthorpe game was just as cold and got 1339 more home fan's. Sure people will be annoyed at the previous two home games but I can't see that reducing the crowd by that many. Would a lot of the 'floaters' have known that Latics were playing that night? I know I nearly forgot and I go every week! I don't know what the answer is but something needs to be done as Christmas and January are going to be extra tough this year with huge job losses and the recession kicking in.
  12. It was obvious there was tensions yesterday between players, I think Sheridan has to look at whether to play Gregan in the next few games as you can't have a player taking his problems onto the pitch. I think a meeting is required at the club between all the staff, iron out the problems with what has been said on both sides.
  13. I heard that BBC coverage starts at 4am, I'm not sure that im capable of staying up myself of watching it!
  14. I thought Lewi had a good game, Deano really wanted to score but hit the top of the stand quite a few times. We need Hughes to play up front with Lewis otherwise he's up front lost on his own. Deano is a right winger (and potentially a good one as well) but not a striker.
  15. I like the Mcintyre Final 4 idea. I think the current format is good but a bit dated. By finishing 3rd/4th you should have a bigger advantage to the teams who finished 5th/6th. My only hope is that we get there in the first place!
  16. I see Jones as a Left winger rather than a Left back. Too many times on Saturday he was out of position yet he insists he's a left back? Taylor was back more times than him and watching back the highlights versus Leicester he'd lost his man quite a few times then. He's got quality written all over him but It's only good to have an attacking player if he's got the stamina to get back to his original position.
  17. Terrible draw but at least if we do lose then it's not all over the back page in 'FA Cup shocker!'. If we seriously want promotion this year then getting out of the cup is a good thing. Not that I think we will lose to them though. And Martin Allen's now in charge so dig out you St George flags boys..
  18. Love the extended highlights package on Latics World but why on the Leicester match highlights didn't it show the 'free kick' leading to their goal. I thought it was quite a big decision for the ref to make and I was looking forward to see whether he or I was correct.
  19. Some people prefer to stand up whilst watching a game of football. If you don't want to be near people standing up, the ground has many other area's where it accommodates your type of match enjoyment as a spectator. I believe it should be common knowledge by now that fan's who are placed next to the moat in the RRE are more likely to stand persistently through most games. I know that persistent standing is against the law, however it is in my opinion a dated law and under certain circumstances like big games yesterday, it should be relaxed. I also think that persistent standing is much more enjoyable than sitting and standing every 5 minutes. So why the stewards insist on making fan's sit down is beyond me.
  20. The thing is, Gaunty at the time was undecided on his opinions that Hughes had signed for us. At first he was saying it was not morally right to sign him but after an hour or two he'd made up his mind that he'd done his time and the fault was the law saying he could be released that early. Now he's totally forgot all that and takes the easy route and slags off Oldham and Hughes! The guy's a prat with a few good views but he can't control a debate without shouting and screaming then cutting off the other person for having a different opinion to his. It was bound to come up with Luke being sent down for what he did and it most likely will come up again in the future but whats been done is done now.
  21. How many times since Premiership day's have we actually sold out the full allocation given to us? I remember Man City, Everton and Blackpool off the top of my head. Was Dale this year officially sold out? I know we've nearly sold out a few times but have we done many sell outs?
  22. Stockport must give us another batch of tickets next week surely based on Police Advice. I know quite a few fan's who haven't got a ticket yet due to different reasons. They'll most likely jump into the home end rather than miss the game.
  23. 7,851 but then again I wouldn't be suprised if it was less than 7k. But hopefully with the weather dry and people seeing were top of the league we might get a bigger crowd than was expected.
  24. I thought it was a red however I also thought that John Terry's rugby tackle was also worthy of a red but he appealed and got away with it. The only thing stopping it being a red is where the incident took place and he wasnt going on to score.
  25. Fair enough we might of previously had say 2000 fans in the large section but with the lure of a derby game whilst we sit nicely at the top of the league then surely the RRE could attract upto a thousand more fans. All for the sake of accomdating the Y*rkshire scum it's really not worth causing hassle to the home fan's who have had to move already from the Lookers. Just seems pointless to me..
