  1. "You should never go back" Or "Big Joe leads Oldham Athletic to victory again" Which one will we be saying in 9 games time? It's never dull is it supporting Oldham! Welcome back Joe
  2. Sheridans record has just been on sky sports news: Played - 151 Won - 61 Drew - 43 Lost - 47 Win percentage of 40%, not bad in my opinion.
  3. Well put, Sheridan has had a good 10 years here and he love's the club. It's a shame that he's gone but I wish you all the best wherever you end up.
  4. I don't think sarcasm travels well over the internet.. Bring back Talbot
  5. What didn't I get? It's called being loyal and not shooting someone down as soon as it gets tough. The thing is with 'you lot' is that we'll be in this position in 2 years time with you wanting *insert manager* sacked and thinking how we should be out of this league. The only way to stop the rot is to stick with a manager and ride the storm. Look at Fergies first 3 years, and how the fan's wanted him out.
  6. I agree with Senor Coconut, the owners should of at least kept him till the end of the season. He deserves more respect of what he's achieved with us this season and one slip out of the play offs he gets the bullet, madness. Bring back Jimmy Frizzell..
  7. hmm ironic as I wrote that he got sacked. Annoyed but thanks Shez you did your best with what you had here at Latics (Not much).
  8. Reading over some of the posts since we got beat yesterday and the shouts for Sheridan's head and how we were meant to be in the play offs blah blah blah. Well were an average League 1 team with home gates struggling to get 5000. At lot of you sound like Man U fan's who think it's their 'right' to be the best. Were lucky to be up there with a chance. Look at the teams below us with higher gates, yet we've managed to last most of the season to stay up there with the big boys and money men. I was there yesterday and it wasn't good to watch, MK Dons out-played us but also got lucky that our defence had Hazell missing and we had to put our 3rd choice Gk in net. I'm sure Shez has his reasons for why he didn't start Stam, we don't see what he see's throughout the week in training. Shout's of bring back Andy Ritchie and Joe Royle just make me laugh at how fickle football fan's can be. I want Shez to stay as it's proven in football that a manager who stays leads to a successfull team. Sacking him now will not achieve anything! Yesterday I heard a lad saying 'why's Shez put F*ckin Budtz in net, he should of put Windass in' What?! How is it Sheridan's fault that Fleming got a knock and couldn't play. Sure he's made mistakes but so do all managers. I think a bit more critism should be placed on the players. Why aren't they capable of motivating themselves and putting in a decent performance when it matters. They've all got potential to help achieve promotion with Latics so they shouldn't need a manager to motivate them at this time of the season. There's only 9 games left and if you want to moan throughout them and boo at any little mistake, you'll spend summer annoyed that we missed out on another chance of promotion. Now, I've got this crazy idea that us supporters should get behind the manager and players and urge them back into the play-offs. First by beating Tranmere on Saturday and taking it from there. We can re-enter the play offs on a high and give a really good shot at it. Keep the Faith Sheridan to stay.
  9. Retire the flag to the windsheld at the side of the RRE, I think It'd look great hanging there and the weather wouldn't effect it. As for a new flag, what is the scoreboard fund doing?
  10. Didn't a certain ginger bloke score his first goal for us?
  11. Leeds fan's were in there and cheered when they scored, everyone around them went mad and they got kicked out with presumably a few bruises on their way out. It's their own fault, it's not as if Leeds had sold out.
  12. I think a point was a great result, we looked absolutely shattered after a tough game down at Millwall. It keeps Leeds below us and yet again a play off team cannot beat us at home. We just need to put in a good performance and beat Colchester on Saturday because we've another two tough games after that.
  13. Hmm a win and a draw against our play off rivals, I don't think thats bad do you?
  14. The thing that does my head in the most with Windass is that his wage's are meant to be sky high and he came here with the mentality that he's got nothing to prove, well I'd like to see him earn those wages and play with a bit of respect for the club. The only reason that he's not been dropped is because of his name and the expectation that his form 'is coming soon'. Well 9 games in and it's fair to say that we would of been better off with the money in the bank and local lad Allessandra starting up front with Hughes (which worked very well at the start of the season). To then read how he can't wait to get out of the place and head back to Hull just makes you sick doesn't it. Fair enough that Hull are his team but he should be thinking of getting games at the end of his career and where he will be next season. If he does end up staying I can't see him starting on Saturday, surely Shez has finally seen that the Windass show is over.
  15. It wasnt a good game in the slightest but for Shez to go, seriously? He made some terrible decisions but it's hardly the wisest move sacking the manager everytime it goes wrong. However as much as I rate Shez I can't understand some of his choices tonight - Budtz for Fleming? Whittaker for Maher? Are Hines and Golbourne really that good to drop team regulars? If Windass was a unknown player he would of been dropped a few games ago but it seems his 'name' keeps him in the starting XI. Obviously it would of been a different game if Hughes had put away the Pen and his chance in front of goal and if Windass' shot went in but the 2nd half was an awful display of football and is not acceptable for a team in the play off's!
  16. I agree, with Hughes and Windass upfront we miss speed so to have Smalley helping out makes sense. I thought Smalley had a pretty good game however he went missing a bit in the 2nd half. I think Latics need to be more ruthless and not to take their foot off the pedal when we have them on the back foot. Northampton were a very poor side and we should of scored 3/4 past them but It's still an improvement on previous games.

    OWTP!?

£40 for a pink shirt that I'd never wear in public so no I wouldn't buy it and to be honest I think we'd look daft wearing pink, however please don't label me as against the cancer charities. For one game I'd probably go along with it though.
  20. There's still the old style of terracing but 'Safe Standing' is new and is currently being used successfully in Germany. There's no chance of the old terracing coming back but the modern terracing is a must for future development in football stadia. I would be very impressed with the FA and football league if they agreed to a trial but I just can't see them making an effort to bring it back.
  21. After seeing that it's just made me realise that I wouldn't want us to be embarressed in front of the nation wearing pink! Please if we are going to wear pink can we make it for a smaller game..
  22. Not a bad idea really but a few problems: Say if we state 10 poor games and then we end up having an amazing season and everyone on Oldham wants to turn up (unlikely though). If every season ticket holder brings 5 friends to every game then the people who pay on the day wouldn't get in plus the ground only holds 10,500 at the mo. If we get promoted then season tickets will be in demand and there will be hardly any poor games. Probably better for the club if they did 5/10/15 game season ticket deals but i doubt they'll say owt until we know what division we'll be in.
  23. Personally I hope they've agreed with the football league to test safe standing when they build the new Broadway stand, however this is highly unlikely! God knows what it is but I imagine it won't be as good as we all think.
  24. Just looking at those kits and it got me wondering about the badge. Not being old enough, what were peoples reactions to getting a club badge in 1972 (excluding the town badge in 1951) and what were the fan's opinions of it? How about when the badge changed in the 80's, did people not bother or were there some people who claimed the old one should of stayed? I remember the away green shirt in the 90's had a retro style badge which didn't go down too well.
