  1. He's the player who got suspended for calling the rape victim of Ched Evans a 'dirty little tramp' or something similar, then got suspended for it if i remember correctly. He might be a good player who got caught in a bad place with his views on such a strong matter, or he may be gash and been sent to us!
  2. We won't get Bolton or Blackburn as they have bye's into the 2nd round for whatever reason
  3. Email and money sent, I always like being involved in these sort of things as it makes the tournament even more exciting!
  4. You are correct! Seems there was an error in my calculations Should be a few new teams to that list next season as well
  5. Since we've been in the third tier of English football for 15 seasons, I had a look back at all the different teams we've played. Question is how many teams have we played in the league (not cup) since the season beginning 1997/98? Even better if you can name them!
  6. I agree with Pukka - it's a dirty move that makes us look cheap once again. If the club had made it a Cat A from the start because it was the last game then people wouldn't be complaining but to upgrade this match at a late stage especially when we aren't playing for anything is wrong. There's a good chance also that Carlisle will be out of the chase by the last game and they'll bring about 500 in the whole of the RRE and the crowd will be sub 3000 - Good times are back at BP
  7. DIRECTOR BARRY OWEN'S PLAY FAIR MESSAGE TO UNDER SIXTEEN SEASON TICKET APPLICANTS "£10 ticket is a great offer from the directors...but, as always, things don't go to plan" I've not had Latics player since the quality of Stuart Vose's highlights dissapeared with him but i'm guessing Barry's going to do a classic Latics PR move by critising our 17,18,19 year old fans (the most likely to start the atmosphere at home games) for trying to get in for a tenner. I'm sorry Barry but if you come out with this then you obviously don't know the fans. Lads just over 16 will not pay another £173 if given the oppurtunity to get in for a bargain price, especially if they don't bother each week and considering most won't be in full time pay till early 20's there should be a better level of prices. Hopefully i'm wrong, but knowing previous statements i'm fairly certain i won't be. I'm looking forward to the Chron's annual back page in a few weeks when Corney slags off the number of season tickets sold etc
  8. I've been to 18 games this year (5 wins, 6 draws & 7 defeats) Wins: Scunny away both games & Walsall away were what Latics should be at the end of the season - showing fight and grinding out crucial wins. Orient was a fantastic away day as per and we all hope they stay up! Sheff United was rubbish we should have won 4-2 Draws: The atmosphere at Preston was fantastic along with a great game. Carlisle was one of the worst leads blown but still a great match to watch. Southend away was good, did the business and Wesolowski's goal was superb. Charlton was similar to Orient, another top away day on the booze and Morais goal was quality. Chesterfield draw in the league was always going to be in the shadow of the 2 cup runs and I hardly remember it. Lastly the draw at Wycombe was as good as a win, some of the fans let our side down but at least we're passionate about our club still. Defeats: Tranmere seemed to be a blip in the early good away form. Liverpool and Robbie Simpsons goal will be up there with the best bounce's i've done with Latics. Huddersfield got lucky with their win as did Chesterfield in the JPT first leg. Stevenage was a fairly decent away trip but our season was over by then, didn't care for their fans either! Dale was disapointing but we were down to our bare bones - Kuqi's goal has to be one of the best i've seen though. Wednesday last Monday was a good fight but how can we compete against teams with all that money? All in all a good season away wise for me. I don't expect to win (or draw most times!) but what we as Latics fans are good at is showing up in numbers and making a day of it. Numerous times i've come out of the ground and the home fans congratulate the OAFC support. Wycombe was the only embarressing moment as a fan this year but I really think that we have to believe in Dickov if we want to build on something as a club. Hopefully the best away game this season will be Bury next week - a good stuffing of our neighbours whilst we're all in fancy dress will do nicely please
  9. Can someone tell me which players are contracted for next season. I know we had a lot of 1 year deals so I imagine most will be free agents in a few weeks, but there must be some who will be Latics players for sure come August.
  10. How is it not valid? Not being funny but just curious to see why you think that? I personally think that whilst it may have been a while ago, Royle's tenure was at when we were at a similar position to where were at now. We need to give somebody time and for me Dickov fits the bill at Latics. It's easy to critise after a bad run of form but for me the players have more to blame than Paul himself.
  11. W = 32.14% D = 32.14% L = 35.72% I think our bad run is just caused by playing too many games close to each other with the players struggling to find motivation due to our 'safe' position. Don't expect anything from the next two games so the key games are: Wycombe, Preston, Bury & Carlisle. In Dickov we trust
  12. Should have scored his one on one chance in the first half Lee out
  13. I was about 3 rows from the front in the RRE and right in front of the incident and I can't believe it wasn't given. It was a classic M'voto grab and pull penalty give away! BUT do you remember our 'goal' against Bournemouth down there this season that 'didn't go over the line' that cost us a win? These things balance themselves out in the end...
  14. That win along with the atmosphere at the end will do no harm in attracting back the golden ticket ex followers. It was a dire game with a flat atmosphere for most parts but because the sun was out, we was winning and a decent crowd meant the last 10 minutes led to a heartfelt sing song. I really do think singing 'Lino give us a wave' and him smiling led to him not giving the blatent penalty and the goaline (was it in?!) clearance Tuesday night will be a lot tougher than today though, Bournemouth are going through turmoil and we were expected to beat them . Orient are down there fighting for their lifes and will get at us from the first minute, it will require a professional performance to beat them. If we do beat them on Tuesday it will be the first time we've won 3 league games in a row since September 2009!
  15. 'We never win at Sheffield United' was the stat a few weeks ago... For those wondering, November 1970 was the last time we won at Hartlepool with 7 games played since then.
  16. Player of the season: Lee Young player of the season: Tarkowski Goal of the season: Simpson at Anfield Special mentions: Wesolowski, Cisak & Furman
  17. http://www.stevenagefc.com/page/LatestNewsDetail/0,,10839~2656208,00.html £5 off voucher for Stevenage fans - bit rude not offering it to the away fans. Anyone fancy being a bit cheeky and taking a section of their end?
  18. Just to point out that Sheffield United have been beaten only twice at home this season out of 16 league matches. The teams that beat them were Charlton (1st) and Huddersfield (4th). There have been only two teams to get a draw at Bramall Lane – Sheffield Wednesday (3rd) and Exeter (19th). The odds are that we won’t win or even get a draw but we can’t go there expecting to lose, half the battle is fought in your head. Exeter managed to travel 250 miles to grind out a thrilling 4-4 draw! The blue army will be in force with way over a 1000 travelling fans, the atmosphere will be rocking in a fantastic stadium. The players live for games like this, there’s no way they should be dropped – imagine the morale. We might very well get tonked 5-0 again but we’re playing a team with the budget of a Championship club. What does this all mean? It’s going to be tough but there’s always a chance in football that it’s your day. We went to Charlton and got a draw, we went to Anfield and took the lead now it’s time to get the best away win of the season with a very young side.
  19. I think your enthusiasm for creating an atmosphere is great but why do you insist on moving all the time? Just stay where the singers are in the 'I' section of the Rochdale Road End and carry on with your 'project' there. It's where the best atmosphere is created and people know if they want to sit down - don't sit there. Hopefully with the golden ticket games coming up you'll help create a good atmosphere at what would be dull games normally.
