  1. Oldham Athletic 1 - 0 Sheffield United Dean Furman 8,965
  2. The Daily Heil missed an easy gag, instead of putting 'Scholes (third from left, bottom row)' in the team photo, put 'Scholes (second from left, top row)' Gregan wouldn't appreciate it but the laughs would be worth it...
  3. If that quote is from Corney then for him to say that so soon must mean that the deal we've been given is better for Latics (or for himself/ex owners as a get out clause - just throwing that one in there ). I hope we get a club statement today to enlighten the situation further.
  4. Did the council know this or was it a suprise caused by the Lib Dems appealing against all odds? Does this benefit OMBC/OAFC financially? If the club choses to - can it go back to the Failsworth project? Hopefully this hasn't affected our plans us as a club or p*ssed off Corney to the extent that he walks away from this maddness. It'd be interested to hear his opinions on this story (if true). We all have our opinions on where's best for Latics but this will cause a few pro Failsworth supporters to moan a wee bit today!
  5. Awful news - My favourite player in the M**re era. Hope everything improves Chris
  6. Really? I just googled 9 hours 42 minutes and got this site http://www.worldtennismagazine.com/archives/2763 Anyways back to football... The players have no excuse for not scoring when we've seen that they're good enough (just watch season review part 1!). Since Reid has been introduced he's offered nothing up front but can you blame Dickov when his record at Rotherham was so good? Feeney has scored 1 all season and has been a complete waste of money. Tounkara's laziness seems to be catching on and were missing a Gregan character in the team to bollock the stupid mistakes that have been consistant in the latter half of the season. Off the field matters seem to have disrupted the team but to be honest I don't care - they are all professionals on a good wage and the performances have been way below par. It worries me that something serious could be happening behind the scenes that hasn't come out yet, 10 points off our 46 would really be a kick in the balls to the loyal supporters.
  7. Not related but.. 9 hours 42 minutes is the time it took Nicolas Mahut to beat John Isner at the 2010 Wimbledon tournament - The longest game ever in tennis history.
  8. Worst run since the 1922 season: English Division 1 (old) Sa 04Feb 1922 Oldham 0 - 3 Chelsea English Division 1 (old) Th 09Feb 1922 Preston 0 - 0 Oldham English Division 1 (old) Sa 11Feb 1922 Chelsea 1 - 0 Oldham English Division 1 (old) Sa 18Feb 1922 Oldham 0 - 2 Sheff Utd English Division 1 (old) Sa 25Feb 1922 Sheff Utd 1 - 0 Oldham English Division 1 (old) Sa 04Mar 1922 Oldham 0 - 1 Burnley That season, we then went on to beat Liverpool 4-0 at home and beat Man U 3-0 away at Old Trafford!
  9. We've dropped 24 points so far this season when leading in games - 6 draws and 4 defeats. If we threw away half that amount we'd be top of the league. If we can address this before the end of the season we won't be far off top 2.
  10. Good manager & assistants, young ambitious side, quality loan signings with a bit of a buzz back at BP is why were up there. Compare it to when Moore was at Latics and the money that was splashed around then. Most of our players deals are up in the summer so no long contracts and we don't know the finances involved in the loan players contracts. Dickov isn't on the top money as stated at the start of the season so I don't think we have to worry too much about the club going bust. Might be famous last words but I think we'll be okay.
  11. According to the stats you are right. Since the 92/93 season in League 1, the average to gain entry to the play offs is 76 points. If we continue our run of form at a rate of 1.52 points per game we'll hit 70 points. However, this has been enough to get into the play offs once (97/98). The maximum points needed to hit that vital 6th place was 82 in 99/00. For the optimists out there looking at getting the 2nd place: Max - 91 Avg - 86 Min - 79
  12. Who would be everyones line up tomorrow? Mine personally would be: Amos Lee, Hazell, Trotman, Evina Morais, Furman, Jones, Taylor Tounkara, Feeney Subs: Brill Black Stephens Brooke Holdsworth Millar Winchester
  13. I agree, Southampton were amazing and deserved to win 3-0, not 6-0. We gifted them two easy goals early on from Black and Amos then after half time we come out no different - Dickov's got to be responsible for our attitude 2nd half. Our passing was woeful and if we played like we did tonight against any other team we would have lost, we were just unlucky that Southampton were the opposition tonight! You can't just get beat and say 'well Southampton were better' because at the end of the day we were at home tonight and people have paid hard earnt money for the players lack of effort in the 2nd period. I appreciate that the better side won but I'm not happy with how we played anyway and as a paying fan I think Dickov (who has been great so far this season) should give me answers to why we couldn't be arsed to play like a team in the 2nd half.
  14. 6-0 For me it all went wrong from the first poor pass by us, then went horribly wrong. Southampton were good - very good actually but 6-0 is not acceptable for any side competing at home in the same division. Amos - 2nd game here but still can't be letting in a goal like the 2nd and please sort the kicking out! Goals 1,3,4,5&6 not much could have been done. Once 2-0 down it was all over in my eyes and I could not see a come back with a side playing on form like Southampton are. Black - Why is this man in an Oldham Athletic shirt? He was well and truely targeted tonight and look what happened. I know he's only young but playing him tonight cost us the game, should have stuck Evina at LB and dropped him to the bench. For me the rest just gave up at half time or just after at 3-0. Tounkara needs a striker with him upfront, Taylor should be on the left wing for me where he can rip a side apart. Dickov in my opinion dropped a bollock by his tactics tonight. We got lucky against Swindon and things needed changing in the way we play our football, why have we started to hoof the ball? Southampton were a beast of a side and were fitter, stronger and more organised than us. At half time their subs were doing proper drills, ours were messing about kicking it to each other in a small circle when we should have them practising shots.
  15. Thats all well and good to play the hungry players, but it needs to be looked at if those strikers don't score. For me Feeney hasn't looked good enough and so far it's Dickov's worst signing but he has the ability to bag some goals after a run of games. I'd give him a chance but then again I don't see his attitude in training. Good luck to Brooke/Miller & Kelly because I would rather they played and scored than have someone who doesn't really care.
  16. Never a pen from the camera view - but still poor defending and no composure from anyone in a blue shirt. The sending off looks more dramatic on TV due to the rolling about post foul, but at the game it was nothing more than what had been ignored before and should have been a yellow at most.
  17. He was in charge against us at Huddersfield last season and sent off Kieren Lee.
  18. We were all over Rochdale for the majority of the 2nd half. Through 2 sloppy mistakes in defence Dale win the game - but thats football. As for the ref, his assessor at the game should really think hard about his report tonight. How he can referee a league 1 match nevermind a local derby is beyond me. I counted 5 clear handballs in the box and at least 3/4 clear free kicks outside the box PLUS the time wasting by their Goalie not given. My Rochdale mates can't believe how poor he was and I've never seen a crowd sing you're not fit to referee after the AWAY team get a sending off! No doubt the team will be fuming with his performance because I know I am! Away from the B*stard in Black, we looked scared of shooting. It was the same on Saturday and I can only think it's because of the 5 weeks off. I think we need to start playing another striker up front with Tounkara as theres little support for him. The atmosphere wasn't as good as I hoped but when people are sitting in their allocated seats - it never is. The game needed Brill to bury that header at the end but we all know at Latics it never goes our way!
  19. Mon 09 Nov 1970 Hartlepool 0 - 1 Oldham Ath. (Fourth Division)
  20. After our terrific start I can't see any protest against this idea. How many will take it up - who knows but it's worth a try. I think after Penney last season, a lot of supporters are just picking games instead of gambling with Dickov before seeing any of his football.
  21. I predicted a tough season with a relegation battle with Tranmere and Co - after 18 games were 6th and I find myself being greedy saying we should be 3rd! I'm happy with what we've got even if we haven't played as good in the last two games. Roll on Wallsall - I expect a win though....
