Hogan left them after captaining the team to the National League title. We came in with a very good offer - he told Stockport he wanted to leave and he signed for us when his contract at Stockport was up.
Reid was released so was surplus to requirements
He did create the chance in the second half yesterday - pressuring the defender and nicking the ball. He was through on goal but to then not take the shot was baffling.
This baffles me also. Reid was on early for Nuttall and the two late subs (88&89th minute) was farcical.
Mellon needs time but the early signs are not very convincing…
If you were at Newport yesterday…
You would have seen an experienced striker put the ball wide of goal when he should have scored first half, hesitate and fail to get his shot away when through on goal second half.
You would have seen a player on his heels for a lot of the game, often not challenging for the ball when played forward.
There is no denying that he can score goals but yesterday was not his finest performance by a long way.
The morning after report…
Caught the train from Didcot - delayed and arrived 50 minutes late…had to stand all the way…
Had to go straight to the ground so missed out on the Tiny Rebel Brewery prematch drinks…
Got soaked on the way and then the view from our seats was crap - low down and in the glare of a setting sun
Another average away day performance - too many misplaced and panicked passes - Norwood missed two great opportunities and a great effort from Nuttall saved.
Reid and Hogan improved us when they came on.
Another disappointing away day - I think McGahey and Nuttall cannot start next week - and I think the players and management need to step up.
Simply not good enough.

Just one player smiling in this compilation … I reckon training under MM has gotten a lot more serious…
This for me - we have a chance of building towards the playoffs and, if done correctly, a chance of winning the playoffs.
Lets approach it that way huh.
