I’m not sure that many doubted his talent - but it’s also fair to say that the Norwood we have seen in the last two games is the Norwood we expected to see from the off.
Most would agree that It has taken him a while to settle in.
There are two major factors in his recent form - playing under Micky Mellon and playing alongside Mikey Fondop.
And like it or not, his body language did show that he was frustrated. Contrast that to last night and his MotM interview - he is finally enjoying his football at Latics and long may it continue.
Posted earlier that I would stick with the same eleven that finished the game on Saturday. The only change I could envisage is bringing Hogan in at the back moving McGahey to midfield and leaving Green on the bench.
It is live on TNT Sports which could explain the low numbers...
Definitely a 'Yardstick' game this one - if we play like we did on Saturday then we should be competitive - interesting to see if Hogan comes back in or MM sticks with the team that finished against Woking.
Confirmed (sort of) in The Oldham Times article online today.
Dickenson and Hobson out for two/three weeks more, Reid “a wee bit longer”

It’s more than just a game - it’s my team. There is no way that I can look at it objectively.
Surely - If the team being successful can lift you up then by the same reasoning, the team being unsuccessful can bring you down?
One thing though… I thought that, throughout the game, the England players whinged and moaned about every single decision that went against them.
That needs to be sorted before Germany as it’s really not helping
It also highlights the strength we have in central defence and the options we have in attack.
Lacking quality at fullback and midfield… seems like we’ve been saying that for a long time now…
Depending on whether he stays, our backup goalkeeper is okay too…
Here’s a starting eleven from the players who DIDN’T start at Woking:
Norman,
Sutton, Hobson, Hogan,
Green, Shelton, Dickenson, Hope,
Willoughby, Nuttall, Reid
Best passing performance of the season today. Woking were a little one dimensional and played a limited long ball game which we contained well.
Gardner, Norwood, McGahey and Lundstram were the standouts for me. Ward struggled a little on his return from injury, Fondop put in the effort but should revert to the role of impact sub when Reid is back - and Freeman still doesn’t convince.
A fine performance and I even had a brief chat with Frank Rothwell to round off the day
There was talk on the podcast about sponsoring an Athletico…
I checked the early bird prices for match tickets:
Junior £3 (13 and under accompanied)
Youth £7 (14-17)
Concession (18-21) £10
Pretty attractive pricing I think
