  1. Just read this from him after Saturday: "I was blowing a bit by the end even though I had only been on for 20 minutes," he admitted. Sounds like he will be on the bench tonight if Shez has read this!
  2. Nuff said - Eardley is nineteen years old - he has already captained Latics and also Wales U 21. He is a decent player with great potential - if he continues to learn he will play at Championship level next season. Lomax is a decent player too but not of the same class as Eardley - he has nowhere near the experience and confidence that Eardley has. Look how nervous he was on Saturday against Leicester. Lomax needs more time and he will get better - but I am not sure he will play anywhere above the level he is currently at. Team today... Eardley will be back and you know what, I would persevere with Davies as I feel it is only a matter of time before he gets that goal
  3. Totally agree - Craig Davies has worked hard the last two games I have seen him start - so you cannot fault him for lack of effort. What he does need though is more speed of thought - and a little luck to get that first goal - then watch him go.
  4. I am planning to go to Swindon by train so this sounds ideal for a cheeky beer before the game - does it do grub as well?
  5. He goes on to say about him and Fryatt: '"We work well together – I mess the centre-halves around for him and he gets on the end of things and sticks the ball into the back of the net." I mess the centre-halves around??? Not this time Howard
  6. Lidds - he'll give you 70 great minutes every game - then we bring on Smalley - nice
  7. Youngest daughter is in Cambodia at the moment - I'll ask her to look out for a large gentleman wearing goalie gloves
  8. Was he not on loan with Yeovil before he joined us? or am I confoosed?
  9. Or even better (!) this one: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=l-G-hApnb7s&...feature=related
  10. One of the great hat tricks - and there have been a few good 'uns
  11. Following his recent tantrum, seems like Gareth is on his way out http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ale/7671596.stm
  12. Apart from maybe Kalala (and he wasn't that bad) they are all reasonable players imho - note that I did leave Thompson off the list...
  13. On the assumption that Crossley is fit, and I fully expect Eardley and Gregan to come straight back in, the team sort of picks itself. The only question is whether Ormerod plays from the start - I think he may well be on the bench Crossley, Eardley, Hazell, Gregan, Jones Liddell, Allott, Whittaker, Taylor Hughes, Davies Subs from: Fleming, Lee, Byrne, Lomax, Smalley, Kalala, Maher, Wolfenden, Alessandra, Ormerod, O'Grady etc etc
  14. AAAAAAAAAAARGHH! I didn't know that because I haven't been to OT since we last played there - I will need to find another tune
  15. I think he is getting better each game - now just need to sort out that distribution Neal...
  16. We did - capacity at the moment is about 10,500 as opposed to 13,600 as was. Bottom line is what is the weather forecast for Satdee and what time does Manure kick off?
  17. It is a point worth debating though - Jones looks like a decent left back with bags of potential - his attacking play does give us something that we simply did not get with Lomax. If he leaves after a month or three we are worse off and morale could be affected. As for Ormerod - if he does well, I can only see him returning to Preston and hey presto we are worse off too... Glass half empty? Nah - I drained it ages ago
  18. Cannot understand the signing myself unless we have got him without having to pay any part of his wages. We are the top scorers in the league - we have five (at least) strikers and Davies is coming in to a bit of form - I hope that he starts and bags a couple on Saturday but I can't help being a tad mystified at this one. What about another midfielder - we don't seem to have much cover if Maher is the only one on the bench. Expect to see oneor two going out on loan maybe.
  19. Leicester have sold 2,200 so far - so let's assume that they sell out (2,700). latics had 5,100 on Sunday - so let's assume that we get an extra 900 or so - that makes 8700 on Saturday - in a three sided ground should be noisy As for the reserves - a good team with 7 or 8 who can be considered first team potential. As for Manure - this is their squad: United (probable line-up): Foster; Gray, Eckersley, Wootton, Gill; Derbyshire, Cleverley, Hewson, James, Stewart; Macheda. Subs from: Bryan, Zieler, Eikrem, Norwood, Strickland. Young kids in the main - I like the sound of Cleverley - intelligent player
  20. Interviewer 'So sir Roger, why are you a hypochondriac?' Sir Roger 'Because I'm ill' Classic
  21. Thought that he played quite well - skinned by Johnson for the goal but generally a good performance - I would tell him not to dive in so often - a decent player will anticipate and get past him too easily
  22. Love to see Wolfie on the bench on Sunday - then come on for a cameo role when we are four up
