  1. In all fairness to Corney, every manager brings in their fair share of overpaid deadwood, that's why every season or so we wheel out the cliche of shipping out the deadwood to build on the existing squad. Reality is there are lots and lots of professional footballers happy to coast whenever they get a lengthy contract.
  2. This was with Ripley performing absolute heroics week after week. The outfield team is better than last year in my opinion (in all departments bar the loss of O'Neill) but Ripley was a major, major part of us grinding out victories.
  3. If anything they were cyber bullying Barry. "Gentlemen... AND LADIES"
  4. I'm quite content with the info he's given. We now know we're in for someone decent, news will come out when it's ready to. Good on you keeping your word 2uptop ?
  5. Never been able to take Beckford seriously after seeing him in his prime get made to look like a lost boy season after season by an overweight Sean Gregan in the twilight of his career.
  6. I think it's to be expected seeing as we never have anything to play for on the last game of the season.
  7. Oh, please. It's a deliberate exaggeration that's in poor taste, it's not a death threat.
  8. What's all this criticising on message boards rubbish, just get down to the training pitch and batter him.
  9. I think he did OK, obviously not his natural role and was a bit isolated at times but he set us on some decent breaks. I also don't think he was helped by O'Neill when they were in posession, he was doing a lot of unnecessary chasing with O'Neill seeming to lack a bit of maturity positionally. On to his wasted opportunities, the first one I think he just didn't get his head up. The second one I felt was returning the favour for McLaughlin doing exactly the same in the first half, poor from them both. As for the team, great battling performance. I thought we were poor at times out of posession in the first half, closing players down unnecessarilly which left gaps through the midfield and standing off too much when we'd done well to condense the play. I think Shez saw that and second half we were superb, allowing the Charlton centre backs to have the ball and play it wide then forcing errors with our pressing and tight marking, made life very frustrating for their midfield and wingers who were much less effective until that bulldozer Watt and the nippy no.11 came on. I was impressed with both the Charlton wingers, Brian Wilson the pick of our defence imo. Had a difficult battle on today but dealt with it really well and was very vocal in talking McLaughlin through the game when we were under pressure. Good to have these leaders in the team.
  10. Sounds more like they offered £30k, we said make it £?k and they decided not to take it any further at 10pm.
  11. Journalism is about investigating and reporting facts, if they've got facts, report them. Bollocks to the playground negotiation bull:censored:.
  12. Can't afford luxury players in a relegation fight.
  13. New forwards. We've been chopping and changing the manager for over a decade and we've found ourselves sliding towards league two. I'm sick of the manager always being the one to carry the burden and ultimately the consequences. Footballers have no responsibility, it's always the managers fault they can't be arsed, or they misplace pass after pass or miss sitters or fail to mark on set pieces. These are all basics that our players have failed at year after year almost regardless of the man on charge. The problem is players, lack of continuity and lack of a clear plan. Robbo might be making some mistakes, but his squad is bloody awful, something he was forced into by circumstances. Give the man a bit of slack on the wage budget, allow him to get rid of the spineless crap out on the pitch and persevere with a manager. We may well be in league two next year but that is coming anyway with our short term approach and quick fire attitude to managers. Greatest failing of our owners has been the hire and fire policy and contract strategy on the playing side.
