  1. Sounds like a real mess there. I think Darren Kelly might even turn that job down.
  2. I agree Parkinson has done well for them, but new owners want their own man apparently. They may not be fans of his style of play. They have already committed to continuing the cheap season ticket deal next season with the aim of getting £18k plus season ticket holders.
  3. According to the Bolton News, Bolton now have a short list of 4 candidates that doesn't include Sheridan - Peter Reid, Nigel Adkins, Neil Redfearn and Steve Thompson.
  4. I think it's a non-starter needing 90% approval. A t least a couple of club chairmen (Accrington and Bradford) have already said there is no way they'll support it due to the reduction in the number home games.
  5. They need 90% of clubs to vote for it at the Football League AGM this summer, which is a very tough ask. Given the loss of income due the reduction in the number of home games, I can't see the less wealthy clubs voting for it unless someone presents a very convincing argument as to how they will make more money rather than less.
  6. I don't understand why he hasn't pursued a career in athletics. He's a much better sprinter than he is a footballer.
  7. Can't paste a link from my work PC, but there is a suggestion on Twitter from the Bolton News reporter, that Sheridan is appearing amongst the favourites for these jobs because he has an agent touting him around. He says he's not sure how serious Bolton's interest in him was.
  8. Warnock has left Rotherham. So I guess we should expect Sheridan to be installed as favourite for that job within the next couple of hours.
  9. Sheridan now out to 8/1 for the Leeds job. Big change from 1/6 last week. Robinson favourite at 4/6, Ivan Juric (who?) is second favourite at 7/4.
  10. A much more optimistic and ambitious view was presented by Barry and TP seemed very happy with Shez in charge because he gives youth a chance. He said it makes a big difference that Shez spent some time as a youth coach here in his last spell. One slightly worrying aspect of the interview was Barry's comments on the Ched Evans situation. Although he didn't says so specifically, I go the distinct impression that he personally would be very keen to sign him if the opportunity arises.
  11. The latest outburst from Celino. He wishes he'd never bought Leeds and wants to get out. https://twitter.com/BBCSport/status/731058950288871424?s=09
  12. Think the Fleetwood owner is very wealthy and gifts a lot of money to the club, which goes in to the playing budget. They were rumoured to be paying Shola Ameobi over £5k a week to sit on the bench at the end of the season.
  13. And another one has just started - Martin ez when Everton confirm his sacking. They've forgotten about Shez already!
  14. Matt Chambers tweeted that Latics say they have heard nothing from Leeds.
  15. Whilst it seems very possible that he will be going to Leeds, it's worth remembering that the journalist who broke this story also said he was going to Bolton 2 weeks ago. As an aside, Nigel Adkins has just been sacked and Shez is 3rd favourite for the Sheffield United job in the early betting!
  16. I think both Nohairdontcare and the club are probably telling the truth. There will not have been an official approach but it's quite likely that he did meet with Townsend. It's easy enough for them to pass off what was to all intents and purposes an interview, as 2 old Ireland team mates catching up for a drink and a chat. Given the way his odds have drifted out since though, it sounds like they didn't reach an any agreement.
  17. I think it more likely he'll end up at Leeds than Bolton. With each passing day it seems more and more stories come out about just how bad things are at Bolton. Sports Shield don't appear to have any of their own money and they could be in administration before the start of the season if new investors aren't found. More managers turning them down (Chris Powell supposedly the latest) and there are rumours that Holdsworth now wants to appoint himself as no one else they fancy wants to take it. Leeds have a completely crazy owner, and there's an even money chance he'd get sacked before Christmas, but he'd probably earn triple what he makes here doing so. He'll know he'd be up against it dealing with Cellino, but for managers like Shez, who didn't make the massive money during their playing careers, they have to think of their own financial security as much as the rest of us do. If there's good money on offer at a big club in the Championship it must be very tempting for him, despite the less than ideal circumstances. Having said all that, the Leeds fans I know don't seem to be taking the Shez rumours very seriously yet, despite the bookies odds. They point out that several other managers have been odds on for the job over the last couple of years and not ended up getting it - last week Walter Zenga was odds on apparently.
  18. Interesting that talks are on-going with Dieng, Winchester and Croft as I'm sure we have options on those 3. That sounds like we are trying to offer them reduced terms from those specified in the option agreements.
  19. I'm not surprised Jones has been released. You could tell Shez wasn't convinced by him with his comments about his rib injury towards the end of the season. Personally I'd have thought he was worth keeping but Shez no doubt has someone else in mind that he thinks will be an improvement.
  20. His odds for the Leeds job are now 1-6. Sounds like there is something in this rumour. Will be interesting to hear if anyone going to the awards do tonight hears anything.
  21. Leeds fan at work, whilst acknowledging Sheridan's popularity from his playing days, just posed the question "What has he achieved as a manager, that makes him a better option than Evans? " It's a fair question. Their fans are sick of getting a new manager every 3 months and most want Evans to stay. For what it's worth, he reckons Cellino won't even have heard of Sheridan and their next manager will be Italian. From Sheridan's point of view, the attraction of a big club in the Championship where he is already hugely popular with the fans is obvious. However, he does have to set that against the fact that, realistically, he will likely be out of work again and looking for another job well before Christmas. I don't see Shez reacting too well to being phoned up by Cellino to tell him who to pick and what formation he has to play.
  22. Did anyone else see his reaction when he was subbed? Kit man handed him a top and he threw it straight on the floor. Wasn't happy.
  23. Yeah, Wycombe cut him loose apparently, after he refused an extension. Will probably end up elsewhere but if he's going to league 1 we have a decent chance of signing him.
