  1. Bolton fans I know are sceptical about the chances of them announcing a manager anytime soon. Its 7 weeks since they first announced they had a short list of 3 and would make an appointment within a week. It seems the feud between Anderson and Holdsworth is still going on due to Anderson not yet having put his promised investment in to the club. They're still under transfer embargo and won't get out of that until they file accounts that are long overdue. That's a big problem for them given they've released 21 players and don't have many more than us left.
  2. Seven being interviewed for the job according to Alan Nixon on Twitter.
  3. This isn't asset stripping. There is nothing Corney or anyone else can do to stop this when the lad isn't under contract.
  4. I thought Shirtlif was only here until the end of the season anyway, and was planning to go back to the States. I heard Shez was looking for a new assistant for next season towards the end of last season. May be he'd be tempted to stay for the top job but I wouldn't expect him to stay as an assistant.
  5. I just hope we don't end up paying him off to leave. No point in doing that whilst we only have 5 players.
  6. Fair point which, if the case, makes his lack of experience of first team management even more of a concern for me.
  7. Interesting line in today's Chron: "Athletic want to appoint a manager who will be welcomed by supporters, mindful of the supporters' derision that greeted the news that fan's favourite Sheridan had elected to drop down a division to take on the job at Meadow Lane" Does Bunn fit the bill ? Obviously those of us old enough to remember his time here as a player will have fond memories of that, but that doesn't necessarily translate to wanting him in as manager. The poll on this site listed 8 more popular choices for the job. Whilst recognising he has a very good reputation at youth level and would, no doubt, be inclined to bring our younger players through wherever possible, his lack of first team management experience and questions over his knowledge of the division and players available would concern me.
  8. Well, whoever the new manager. is he certainly won't be able to trot out the old "I inherited this team and they're not my players" excuse.
  9. And also says that Feeney is no longer considered to be a leading contender.
  10. Agree with this. However, we won't get a long term vision/plan for OAFC from the current regime, simply because they don't see a long term future for themselves at the club. Their strategic vision is to recoup their initial investment in the club. And their plan to deliver that is to keep things ticking over in the short term, with minimum investment in the football side of the club, until they either manage to sell at an acceptable price or recoup their investment in other ways e.g. selling houses / the OEC.
  11. If it's true that they refused the opportunity to meet the club that is disappointing. One of their main concerns appears to be a lack of communication from the club, so to turn down an offer to get their questions answered seems self-defeating.
  12. Indeed. In fact Shez was probably stronger in his denials. "I'm concentrating on Newport County at this moment in time" sounds like he's interested to me. But probably no need to worry. Assuming Newport learnt from the Sheridan situation, he'll be on a proper contract and we'd have to pay compensation. I can't see that happening.
  13. I don't think they believed existing season ticket holders wouldn't take up the offer. They're not that naive. I don't think they expected us to win 3 of the games though. When put in to context of the delays to wages being paid several times earlier in the season, it seems almost certain the motivation for the offer was short term cash flow requirements, hence the amplified knock on effect on next season's budget.
  14. Whilst Corney does own 97% of the club, given the fact the entire club debt is owed to Brassbank, he is effectively an employee of Blitz and Gazal. In practice, he is carrying out their instructions. A lot of the venom directed towards him would be better directed at the silent partners who just want as much of the money they invested back as possible.
  15. That's what I heard. But maybe the manager's job and a (modest) pay rise will tempt him to stay.
  16. That's a very good way of looking at it. We are basically looking at another rookie or someone who's been out of work for a while and has a mortgage to pay.
  17. With this board it's likely to be Ched Evans as player manager. In all seriousness though, if Shez has jumped ship to a league 2 club under a transfer embargo, that suggests problems behind the scenes that will rule out anyone with a proven track record and a reputation to protect.
  18. I've not heard the admin rumour but I'm surprised a few posters have had a dig at you for posting it. I can't think of many other reasons Shez would be so desperate to get away to a club that, based on information currently in the public domain, is in a far worse financial position than us.
  19. Buy that wouldn't explain the links to all the other jobs. It looks to me like he's more concerned about getting away from us than where he goes to.
  20. The Notts County link changes things in my opinion because it takes the situation away from the notion that he is just being linked with bigger clubs he has an affinity with, that would be tempting to anyone in his position. This speaks of a man so desperate to leave that he's willing to take a job where his hands are tied by a transfer embargo at a club that won't be giving him a big budget when they can't pay their existing bills. It begs the question, what is so bad about his situation at Latics that he wants to jump ship to anyone who'll have him?
  21. Something is not right. Shez appearing amongst the favourites for pretty much every FL job going, journalists saying he has agents trying to get him a new job. Whatever it is, must be serious if he's considering swapping a safe job at a League 1 club he 'loves' for a League 2 job at a club with more than it's fair share of problems. It's interesting too that there has been no movement on signings at all yet. Usually by this stage of the close season, 1 or 2 of the existing players offered contracts will have signed up.
  22. Sky Sports News reporting Leeds have made an official approach for the Bristol Rovers manager.
  23. Yes. And having not earned a wage until January this year, he will cave in much sooner this time. He may think he's championship or MLS quality but if he doesn't have a better offer by mid July, he'll probably sign for us.
  24. It was on twitter. @MarcIles's Tweet: https://twitter.com/MarcIles/status/732831231751114752?s=09
  25. Notts County? Really ?? I posted a week or two ago that the Bolton News journo reckons Shez has agents touting him around and he possibly wasn't really a serious candidate for the Bolton job. It's worrying that he keeps appearing at the top of the list for almost every job going. It makes me wonder if he knows something about the goings on behind the scenes at the club that we don't.
