  1. I heard Fleetwood are already trying to negotiate a deal for him.
  2. The current forecast is terrible. 13 hours of heavy rain before kick off and continuing through the game. Last year I'd expect this game would have been called off. I seem to remember though, that they discovered a collapsed drain over the summer which was causing the poor drainage, so hopefully the game will be on.
  3. Whilst I agree with the sentiment, I think the issue is that we'd only have the one keeper available, and not a particularly good one at that.
  4. Someone asked Matt Chambers about this on twitter. He said that Gardner is listed as having 5 but actually only has 4 officially. So he should be ok for tomorrow.
  5. Can't post a link from work but there is an interesting clip on Radio Manchester website of an interview with Paul Scholes. He said he WAS interviewd and DID want the job !
  6. Paul Terry coming in as first team coach/reserve teaam manager. Philliskirk to stay invovled with first team whilst also keeping his youth team role, and an experienced assitant manager to come in soon according to the ifollow interview.
  7. Great to have it finally confirmed. The best thing for me is that he has got us playing genuinely exciting football for the first time in ages. As someone else mentioned, I thought Moisley got off lightly at the press conference. I was expecting one of the journalists to ask a question about whether or not Abdallah had a say in the appointment. Did anybody else hear Wellens make a comment about "big Al and his camel", right at the start as they were sitting down?
  8. story here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4992064/Oldham-appoint-Richie-Wellens-permanent-manager.html
  9. Of course he's not, but you should probably watch the interview. His English isn't great but it's not just the usual footballer speak where a player rolls out bland platitudes about the guy who picks the team.
  10. If you fancy a laugh go and have a read of the Burnley fans comments on the match report and articles about Saturday's game on the Lancashire Telegraph site. One of my favourties: "The thing is you arrogant 2hats have been found out .you were all spouting about how you were going to storm league 1 and come straight back to the Chumpionship " your words not mine "some of you halfwits thought you were going to go the season unbeaten lol .The infamous ewood park ejection seat is primed and ready for mowbray the messiah,if the mighty Plymouth turn you over tommorrow. Even the Oldham fans were ripping the pi55 out of your clueless classless laughing stock of a club .IN VENKYS WE TRUST"
  11. In one of his interviews Wellens said he was a big miss because he was good at orgaising on the pitch and carrying out instructions. But he also said he was still a long way off returning. I don't think his injury has ever been disclosed other than it being some sort of achilles problem.
  12. There is an interview with Fane on the OS in which he is very complimentary about Wellens. He says he is a "very very very very good coach". Asked what he has changed, he said he has given them more confidence, saying several times that they now play without fear. He said he doesn't shout at them when they make a mistake and just encourages them to forget about it and keep playing. He also said that Wellens is very well prepared with regard to the opposition's strengths and weaknesses. I think it's well know that Shez enjoyed giving out a rollocking from the touchline and may be didn't focus too much on the opposition. In his own interview, Wellens is similarly complimentary about Fane, saying that the work he does is the reason that Byrne and Gardner can do what they do. Gives him a few other compliments too. He certainly doesnt come across as someone who doesn't rate him, as some here have suggested.
  13. Byrne loves playing for us and really wants to stay. He recognises that he wouldn't fit in with the style of play favoured by lot of teams at this level and feels appreciated here. In his man of the match interview yesterday he made it clear how much he's enjoying it here and also made it very clear that he wants Wellens to get the job.
  14. No decision until after the Bradford game according to Mike. @MikeKeegan_DM’s Tweet: https://twitter.com/MikeKeegan_DM/status/918856571534348288?s=09
  15. If we are ever short of a centre half, I'm sure Abdallah can get us one at the drop of a hat. I think it's good for these lads to get out and play competitive football at what is a decent level these days.
  16. Yes, I was told the same by a mate of his last time the job was available. He's very aware that he needs to make a good impression in his first job or it could be the end of his managerial career before it's really started. He's always felt previously that it's almost an impossible job for a new manager with such limited funds, hence his "right job, wrong time" comment.
  17. Yeah, that was a strange one. The interviewer opened his question with a long winded introduction saying that he knew that Scholes had NOT been interviewed but had been at the club offering technical advice about the squad, then Wellens contradicted him in his answer saying Scholes had been interviewed.
  18. Can't listem myself as I'm working on a client site today, but for anyone who can. the Hawskbee and Jacobs show on Talksport is going to have the latest on the Scholes to Oldham story soon.
  19. The Sun story was published before Latics Insider was "hearing " it.
  20. I suspect some of this story is true. He probably is friends with Wellens and did take the reserves. But I have a feeling the rest of it is a bit of speculative journalism. The tone of the article doesn't make it sound like a done deal, given the way it talks about Wellens also being willing to assist Seedorf. I think Nixon might just be making an educated guess that he will be Richie's assistant. He could just as easily have been doing him a favour by giving him a bit of work experience required for his coaching badges.
  21. According to the MEN, the "vast majority" of staff have now been paid with the rest to be paid before the end of today. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/oldham-athletic-latics-manager-corney-13740737
  22. Sacking Gerrard for complaining about wages not being paid would be the sort of PR disaster even Barry wouldn't contemplate.
  23. I posted something similar on another thread with regard to the attitude of some of the staff towards it. i.e. one of them told me that they are paid late regularly and are used to it now. They don't worry too much about it because their money always turns up, usually within 3 or 4 days. In fact, this particular person was quite annoyed that someone had decided to go the press with their complaints. Let's be clear though, it's no way for a business to treat it's staff, regardless of how relaxed they are about it.
