  1. How you view the political landscape is an individual interpretation. I look at it like the Rorschach Test where you are asked to look at a piece of paper with a blotch of ink and asked to interpret it. Everyone sees something different, nobody is right or wrong, but what we see says more about ourselves than the actual image. I view 'their own' as the generally unelectable and publically unaccountable powerful groups and individuals that influence the policies and laws of the land to protect their wealth, power and influence. Generally this is self serving and results in the withdrawal of wealth from those that created it. I include here: multi national corporations, media barons, old Etonian type old boy networks, banks, financiers and certain politicians etc, etc. In general it is those that promote and benefit from a free market in the good times and when times get tough tend to become more Socialist and call for more wealth sharing/bailing out. By 'the rest' I include all those that are taught that they live in a thriving democracy where Government policies are directly influenced by the will of the people, those who are constantly fed by the main stream media that the reason why ever increasing numbers of people are living in poverty is mainly because of immigrants, scroungers (whether able bodied or not) and people wanting to watch Sky TV and buy fags and alcohol. It's the 21st Century FFS and we're the (insert number) richest country in the world. The reason why it doesn't feel like it is because the money has all floated to the top and they don't care enough about everyone below to make best use out of us. This country is being mis-managed and there's not enough people shouting that it's fucked up. Tomorrow I'm interviewing a graduate lawyer and micro-biologist for a basic office job, what's that all about. I've had someone sort out an interview at a law firm and a bio-tech firm and I'm going to ask them which job they really want and with a bit of luck they'll say thank you and good-bye. You interpret the ink stain how you like and don't seek to pigeon hole yourself in my interpretation as I'm bitter and twisted. Which reminds me, I fancy a beer in the garden.
  2. The Tories have led everyone to believe that austerity means cutting government spending, tightening belts, everyone in it together ..... you know the mantra. The reality is somewhat different. They have consciously created a race to the bottom in terms on pay and job security whilst in parallel attacking the rights of trade unionists and workers to organise and collectively defend their rights and livelihoods. It is estimated that currently 6million workers are paid below a living wage, the main reason that many require food banks. That's not the country that our grand parents fought for. I can assure you that Unison or any other Trade Union do not want more of this. The public have been manipulated to believe that this is the only way .... it is not. We are all better than what we are led to believe, we are all capable of fulfilling our potential, it is Governments that create the environment within which this can be achieved. The Tories will always look after their own at the expense of the rest of us. Challenge everything you see and read, demand change, fight for what you believe in and never, never, never accept that what we currently have is as good as can be.
  3. Latest polls I've seen show Tories leading between 15% - 19%. FFS after 7 years of these b@@@@@@s this is where we are. The poorer in our society are no longer being squeezed, they are being trod upon. Given a bigger mandate you can be assured that the future for the majority will be worse than what is currently endured. Believe what you want about Corbyn, but anyone who believes in either not voting or voting Tory is either doing very well for themselves or needs their head felt. Don't give them justification to inflict even more harm on those that need protection and don't give them justification to sell off our assets and health service to their friends. A vote for the Tories is a vote to extract the wealth from the hands of the many into the hands of the people the represent. If you have ordinary working people using food banks then something is seriously wrong. Get rid.
  4. Quite like the new format, however I notice my profile gender has changed to female. As I keep having to tell my friends and work colleague's .... it's a fecking man bag!!
  5. This thread is like a contempory Bambi script: Thumper: He doesn't walk very good, does he? Mrs Rabbit: Thumper, what did your father tell you this morning? Thumper: If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all
  6. Jordan Rhodes £10m to Wednesday, seriously. He struggles to get into the worst Scotland team in over 50 years I had a heated discussion this evening with a Senior boss of a Sky telephone operative who insisted that the reason that all the Discovery Channels and Eurosport were being removed from my Sky subscription was because Discovery were being unreasonable in insisting on £1000m (a figure that has not been increased since 2006) to show all their channels on Rupert Murdochs platform.
  7. Yeah, we've such a great record with SPL players. Here's hoping though
  8. Is the land not relevant in terms of borrowing? as you are unlikely to be able to secure a loan on reasonable terms against the football club alone, unless you find a kind benefactor who knows he/she's unlikely to see it ever repaid.. In the absence of a quality product to offer or assets to sell, we are left in a position where we need either owners/investors to cover the operating budget shortfall, or lucrative sponsorship deals. It's a vicious circle that we've been in and until we break it the noose will continue to tighten (apologies for mixed metaphors)
  9. Alternative option is laughing or crying. The above are the equivalent of being asked "How would you like to die?"
  10. CAUTION iceberg ahead. Disaster awaits those who ignore obvious threats Hope may not be warranted beyond this point
  11. I have no knowledge of the overall set up of all the quoted companies but Oldham Athletic (2004) Association Football Club Limited is likely a member of a group of Companies where they utilise 'our' losses to off-set the Corporation Tax they would otherwise have to pay on the profit making companies within the overall Group.
  12. NewBlue - I know where your coming from but I keep thinking that Port Vale were so poor and disorganised that they should have been put to the sword. You don't always score every opportunity but against very poor opposition you should create so many opportunities that 9 times out of 10 you win. Playing against disorganised teams is the easiest game to win because you adapt your game to their weaknesses. The person in charge is there to spot this early (not just at half time)!and change the plan accordingly, it allows you to have more chances of scoring, eventually you will score unless it's just one of those days. We simply didn't create enough clear cut chances against such a poor team to be confident that SR is turning this sinking ship around .... and clearly SOD is either having little effect else confusing matters. I struggle to comprehend how a group of professional sportsman can remain so ineffective.
  13. Don't think the above are the only options. The link between the forwards and midfield is clearly a problem. Mackay is a half decent player when provided with service and can create space for others, he is more than capable of delivering at this level, and replacing him would simply end the same if other things didn't change. SR has a system he wants the players to play but the majority are incapable both technically and from a fitness point of view. Changing forwards will not help, I would consider changing coaching staff and methods before I brought in new forwards. Thought we played no more than OK on Monday because Port Vale were dreadful and the fact we were not able to beat them is my biggest worry. Strikers miss and keepers make good saves in every game, you have to find ways to beat teams having a bad day. The squad do not look fit and are gonna get even more tired and injury prone in second half of season. I'm sure even those who want to keep Robbo will admit that something has to change, however If there is no money for players or paying off a manager out of his depth, the only thing I can think of to avoid certain relegation is to consider bringing in someone on an advisory role a couple of days a week to bring some freshness to the set-up
  14. Wasn't going to go again this season but have managed to bribe one son his friend and my mate to endure 90 minutes of sheer hell sandwiched between a 750 mile round trip. If it's a late call off we'll just count our blessings
  15. it's more the jump from 5k to 12k in one season I was trying to confirm. It also coincided with drops in attendances at City and United. I find it hard to believe that one man can make such a difference, if it was Wow. Could be other factors like we may have also installed new turnstiles.
  16. Unfortunately all the recent evidence indicates that our problems relate to Cash-Flow and we would not be able to remain solvent whilst we awaited such future rewards. Another symptom of a poorly run organisation with no ability to implement a long term strategy. I fear that in the absence of a buyer they currently believe that their only option to generate profit is to operate a more successful (on the pitch) club in a lower division. Which lower division, who knows. Wonder if they've tried selling to Red Bull, I heard they're after an English club
  17. One for the oldies this. Back in the early 60s immediately after we finished bottom of 4th Division our average attendance jumped from about 5k to over 12k even though we still finishing mid table. Was it all down to Bobby Johnstone or were there other factors at play. My dad reckons it was simply the 'Bobby' effect but he does talk some :censored:e at times.
  18. The last time we had a higher goals For than Against at home across a season was 2008/09
  19. A simple arrow pointing to the goal. Just remember to move it for second half as it may confuse those not paying attention during the halftime team talk.
  20. When your chosen means of escapism from mundane daily activities becomes the greater chore and your social identity is gradually eroded is it really that surprising that even die-hard supporters will seek alternative ways to get their testosterone and dopamine fix. Bar a few games under Sheridan we have been served anti-football for far too long amidst a carousel of football charlatans and useless gob:censored:es masquerading as managers. Nobody can make the same mistakes time and time again. I'm starting to think that Corney is the antichrist and this is a deliberate strategy by him to reduce the value of the clubs assets so that liquidation is the only option. Anyone lost a ginger cat, it's made itself at home and the kids have given it all my corned beef so there's nothing for tea.
  21. More fitting of the aspirations of our current owner is that there are nine teams we've played in this league who have fallen outside the FL : York Lincoln Stockport Tranmere Rushden and Diamonds Dagenham Hereford Wrexham Torquay
  22. Our last 6 managers have now lost the dressing room, the problem is clearly with the t**t that keeps moving it.
  23. FAO Lee Sinnott I've only been to one game this season and its unlikely that I will be back for a while as I decided to start coaching rugby which takes up my Saturdays. Thanks for asking I'm deeply moved. Should we get to the play-offs or draw a Welsh Club in the Champions League Qualifiers I'll try and find the time to attend. If I do I'll let you know and give you the opportunity to call me a 'glory hunter'. You can put me in the category of 'found something else to do at the weekend'. As for my Dad he's not been since my original attention seeking post, I think he sits in the house on a Saturday afternoon listening to the 'wireless' whilst annoying the hell out of my mum by feeding the starlings Weet-a-bix. She started buying Lidls own brand as it was costing her a fortune but whilst starlings didn't notice any difference she found the cheaper variety rather bland. Like most people she blames her weekend problems on Simon Corney as before he came along my mum would have the house to herself on a Saturday afternoon and she could watch recorded episodes of Emmerdale. Given that you have so much time on your hands to seek out a post from a year ago I suggest you consider taking up an interest that makes a more positive contribution to your own wellbeing and society in general otherwise you run the risk of coming across a bit of a dick.
