  1. Couldn't have put it better myself - even down to the 20 years of support! Haven't been to a game since Brentford away and was trying to decide up until yesterday whether to go to Gills. Thought a day on the beer and the footie was just what I needed, but then decided spending £70 and doing an 8 hour round train journey on my tod was a waste of a weekend. I can't completely put my finger on why - I've been willing to travel and spend that amount of cash before to see equally predictable matches, but there just seems to be, as you said in the title, a general negative feeling around the club, in a different way to all the other low points we've experienced over the years.
  2. It must be so easy for opposition teams to scout us. Defensively, opposite teams must just be told by their management; "2 of you mark Taylor and let the rest play around, because they won't have any quality to do anything. Job done."
  3. And a creative midfielder other than Taylor....
  4. I wouldn't be that confident about the relegation prediction......
  5. Brilliant that we think signing a striker will be the answer to all (or at least some) of our problems - how many times was the ball in the Leeds box tonight for a striker to have a sniff of goal??
  6. Agreed we need a striker, but don't you think we need a midfield to provide said striker with some ammunition?!?
  7. Suppose Ryan Brooke was willing to have a go, though....
  8. In chronological order: - Leeds fans lack of respect for the minutes silence. - Roob's back header, I think?? Credit to Flahaven for sorting that one and probably the only positive tonight. - Joe Colbeck - taken off because of an injury I assume?? - Leeds fans singing "We're the Champions of Europe". Semi-finalists 15 years ago...now in the third tier of English football. You are a joke. - Playing 4-6-0 when 1-0 down. - Keigar Parker, although the commentator said he'd given Hughes a "torrid" time - he must be right. - 5,600?? - Not stringing 2 passes together (that can cover start to finish). Also - We have to give CT more freedom - he is the only one with any creativity and is a class above anyone else in this squad. I've only been to one home game this season (and have been away for the last 5 weeks, so haven't reallt kept track of performances) but have to say that was as bad as I've seen Latics play. Hope the announcement tomorrow regarding the stadium is a catalyst for better times...
  9. Not one to complain either, but at the moment it seems we have a 'keeper that is prone to more than the odd clanger, no alternative at centre-back, an ineffective midfield and only one striker who knows where the goal is. Still, suppose we can only do the best we can with what we've got. As for Huddersfield - Alan Hansen once said the sign of a good team is one that goes away from home, plays badly, and still gets a result.
  10. Have dropped Scott a line to let him know Steve was looking to get in touch with Mike.
  11. Hi Steve, Bit late for yesterday's match, but I'm still in touch with Scott, so I'll let him know you were asking after Mike. Still think Mike attends the odd game. Cheers, Joe.
  12. Good news....but here's hoping it's just the start. Sounded on Latics World like Carlisle had a few chances, but seemed CT had more freedom, and Brill, Abbot, Parker and Lomax (Always been a fan) all had a bit of a confidence boost which can only be a good thing. With regards to the support - as I've said before, quality not quantity!
  13. Cheers, mate! Sorry you can't make it - Hopefully see you at my next game which will be Gillingham.
  14. Financially they are, yes. In terms of offering encouragement and helping the club to be pro-active, I would have to say no. Season tickets sales were down this season, I think. The way I understood it, Moore was sacked because STs sales were down and the fans weren't happy. Why else would they have sacked him in the close season? As the table from the previous season finished, he got Latics going in the right direction. Either way, Fan Power had an influence.
  15. Indirectly Moore was sacked by the fans because season ticket sales were down, largely due, it was thought, because the fans thought he played bad football. There are moaners at every ground in the country, week-in, week out, but there are also a lot of "supporters" at most of these clubs. At Latics it doesn't sound as if there are many "supporters" at the moment at all, which can't help the club's ills one bit.
  16. Well, Ronnie Moore was sacked because we hadn't sold enough season tickets. My question was also a hypothetical one - there are fans who moan no matter what and surely if they had their way, there'd be a new set up every week.
  17. I see your point with your comparison, but whats the alternative when it comes to Latics? Critisise and moan until we have a revolving door of personnel??
  18. I don't think thats a very good comparison. Surely a "Happy Clapper", in the context of Latics, would support which ever Governments in no matter what??
  19. I agree. Would like to think that encouragement like you've given would help Penny realise that there are Latics fans worth working hard for and help him ignore the cr@p that so many of the moaners come up with.....
  20. Want to give him a chance, but that is a question I've been asking. Even if Luton hadn't had the 30 points taken off them, I think they would still have finished about 15th in Division Two last season, which is far from impressive.
