  1. Hmmmmm.....that could work for next season. The season after though, we'd need to win the League, thanks to a last-minute penalty, given away by a stern-faced Mancunian..........who in 15 years time we'll make manager......or maybe not.
  2. "You Stole the Sun" - Is that a cover of the Manics song? Tip of the hat to them on two fronts if so!
  3. The problem with big clubs coming down is that they are all probably going to finish in the top 6. Stick Leeds in there as well and thats four of the top six taken aleady, leaving the rest to scrap for the other two spots. I'd settle for mid-table for Latics this season - Penny will need a year to put his stamp on the team and they'll also they'll need a bit of time to gel.
  4. Yes... Bad if you live in Oldham. Bad if you live in Cardiff. Alright if you live in London. Looking forward to Exeter, Norwich, Charlton and Saints... ...aside from them - been there, done that!
  5. Wigan are never likely to come close to anyone's "second favourite" team on here, but it would be a superb jesture if Dave Whelan does what he said what he would do and let everyone in for free for a game. Excellent jesture, particularly considering that the majority of Premiership clubs would rather use every last penny of the £40 million they receive every year on some over paid and overated "superstar". Nice that Wigan, with their modest support, are happy to give something back to their fans.
  6. 54 watching Latics...bit disappointed with that, although there hasn't been a massive turnover of "new" teams in this division in the last 10 years. Have also been to Wrexham, Torquay, Mansfield, Cambridge, Dorchester (when we played Bournemouth there) and Thurrock!
  7. There's probably a detailed article on this somewhere, but how would relegation from the Championship work? E.G: say three southern teams come down. Would probably make financial sense, but reckon some of the money saved from "overnighters" should then go towards a minibus to take OASIS members to matches!
  8. Agree - think this was a silly decision by him. If he'd have taken the contract he's have been on more money than he is on now for at least another year, would have had the possibility of being offered a new contract by Latics at the end of next season if he'd have performed well, or could have looked for a two year contract somewhere else then. "A little interest from one or two clubs" doesn't sound like clubs are falling over themselves to sign him and unsuprisingly so, given the fact he's played most of his career in the bottom two divisions and the current economic climate (gets blamed for everything!) could mean a two-year deal might be hard to find.
  9. Don't know much about him, but sounds like he could potentially do a job and has my backing. He's got a hard job on his hands, and so hope everyone gives him enough time to get things right.
  10. Allan's 100% record saved us complete embarrasment - of course we were rattling them in (sort of!) when we had a practice, but choked when it mattered! Harder than it looks, though - the balls are placed at the bottom of a slope, so you're almost running downhill to kick the ball. Excuses, Excuses, I suppose......
  11. Blimey! Never saw a "Ian Moore is a t**t" post back-firing on here! Consider me well and truely put in my place!
  12. Also, the thing with Hughes is that his dance is a celebration of his goal - the opposition's fans can choose to interpret it the way they want. The "hand round ear" and telling us the score, as Moore did, is just intended to wind the oppositions fans up, which I don't like. Anyway, moving swiftly in an onwards direction........ FMS - Not sure, but did I speak to you in the Greyhound on Saturday? Going Orient? Will probably see you in the Coach and Horses after my 15 minutes of fame!
  13. I don't think anyone on this thread has said they support Hughes doing his dance in front of the oppositions fans, have they? I have well and truely moved on from it, but just wanted to point out that Moore thought he was being the big brave man, when in fact he was being exactly the opposite.....
  14. Didn't think there was much abuse towards either of the Moore's until Ian did his stuff. So, without wanting to sound like a 10-year-old, he started it.........
  15. Probably....never think it's a very big or clever thing to do, though.
  16. What a t**t he is. Giving the crowd the old "hand to the ear" gesture after scoring is one of my pet hates. It's easy to be the "big man" by goading the crowd when there's a line of stewards and police protecting you and when all sensible fans realise that the implications of a counter-reaction would be far harsher to the individual/the club, than they are for the player. To then also turn to the Oldham fans and then show them the score with your hands was also completely uncalled for. Ian Moore's attitude stinks and I couldn't be happier that he decided to bolt when we were about to sign him.
  17. That sounds a bit odd.........whatever lights your candle, though.
  18. Royle Ritchie Palmer Tricky Ricky Neil Adams Subs. Marshall and Redfearn
  19. Nice One! Have you sent it to the club? They might stick it in the programme.
  20. Spot on! The only player the fans gave encouragement to on Saturday was Scott Vernon!
  21. Generally over the season, though, it was only Saturday's combination of results that has made a play-off spot look a bit uncertain - we've always been there or thereabouts. Anyway, we'll have to see. I for one hope Shez sorts any issues out during the week and the team puts in a Millwall-esque performance in at MK. Sacking Shez or b!tching and moaning about him isn't going to achieve anything now. Why not get behind the team and staff? You never know - it might just give the team the lift to carry us over the line.
