  1. Do we think there will be any more activity or has the cleaner turned all the lights off at BP?
  2. I'm still in the Wellens IN camp and feel our problems are small but numerous and are hitting us at the same time. - As has been said by many, Doyle is a serious miss. - As is Hunt. - The introduction of Jewell and Terry upset the progression we were seeing. - We know Jewell has gone (for reasons unknown), but Terry was brought in as 1st team coach with (I think) an emphasis on defence....and since that appointment, our defence has declined in performance and preparedness. - Final point and the one that a few will disagree with......our most productive midfield was Fane, Gardner, Byrne and Nepomuceno during the period prior to the arrival of Jewell and Terry. I feel something changed following their appointments because we went from an organised midfield to a group of disconnected individuals.
  3. Leap of faith here......I reckon Doyle is travelling down on the team bus and will be sat with Gerrard and the other waifs and strays.
  4. I'm of the opinion that with the addition of a couple of players who play in their correct role then we will be fine. The football yesterday was good in the middle of the park, we moved it easily towards the opposition penalty box but after that we hit a "wall"......Benyu was clueless on the ball and didn't know where to go off the ball.....Tope didn't know whether to stay wide or go to Davies and ended up doing nothing. We have 2 wide players who can do and know the job in Nepomuceno and the Belgian so we should be playing one with the orders to stay wide and cross giving Davies something to attack. As others have said, we need a LB and a CH......Hunt, for me, has been missed but we need someone in that role or we give Hamer a decent run of games. Who'd have thought at the start of the season that we would be looking at both Clarke and Gerrard as weak links. Both have their faults, Gerrard is less mobile than Clarke but reads the game better but both are past it. However, the number of corners we put into the far post yesterday were crying out for Clarke to run onto. When Wellens got the team winning and scoring goals, it was because Doyle stayed close to Davies and both along with midfield players were comfortable in passing the ball around defenders and that is never going to happen with Davies and Holloway up front so we need a forward comfortable with ball at feet to come not another lump. I think Wellens should start a stupidity fine box starting with Edmundson because that 2nd yellow was the daftest booking for a long time and made it an easy decision for the referee and left us with the proverbial mountain to climb.
  5. On a freebie courtesy of Peterborough's shirt sponsor.....3 course meal and half time tea and cakes....have to buy my own beer though. Already told them I will be noisy!!!
  6. Does this move open the door for JCH coming in?
  7. On the concrete evidence of what exactly makes you and Rigsby certain of the takeover collapsing? There is no news anywhere so when did the saying "no news is good news" become incompatible with the Latics? The recent takeover of Barnsley commenced early last season so we could still have a wait before Abdallah eventually takes over. To put it in simple terms...............STOP GUESSING - YOU KNOW JACK SH*T!!! There are only a few who know the takeover situation.......Abdallah and his advisors, Corney and his mates, I would say. Rigsby and deyres42 - NOPE!!!
  8. Do we know if there has been any friction between manager & player to warrant Wellens not wanting to extend? Apart from Byrne being disappointed when being hauled off.
  9. Have we got one out and out winger at the club? We've got a few players who can play wide and who can either beat a man or put over a cross but not both AND nobody who can do it on a regular basis.
  10. That was a very crap Northampton team who made us look good. Doncaster was always going to be a more difficult proposition.
  11. Time to dump the idea of playing Doyle on his own down the middle......we are still lumping the ball up and that doesn't suit his game. It was no surprise to me that he became more effective once he brought a big bloke on as a target.
  12. I understand your hesitation in not getting overly excited but I have a gut feeling (nothing to do with dodgy kebabs et al) that something positive will happen with at least two of the three assuming the takeover goes through. Based on nuggets of information from previous posters who may or may not have anything more than tenuous connections: 1) City appear to be very happy with the progress Bryan is making under Wellens that they are interested in extending his loan deal (not that he really has a future at the Etihad). 2) We have supposedly had discussions with Preston to buy Doyle. These next ones are my bit of guesswork putting two and two together and getting somewhere close to the correct answers 3) Wigan don't want Byrne but wanted McLaughlin so sound out if a deal could be done. Byrne is playing for a manager that understands him. 4) We've been told Lemsagem is rich but not mega-rich and he's seen what Doyle and Byrne give us on several occasions so itt wouldn't need a massive investment to secure them.
  13. Really......I don't think you do irony!!!
  14. What...who......when.......I missed that........was George in the thick of it?
  15. Things I learnt from yesterday: 1) Tope is not a winger. 2) Menig is not a winger 3) Genero is a winger and caused more problems in his cameo than the other two put together. 4) We've lost the art of man marking. I saw very early on that the Southend nr.9 was troubling Clarke so why not put Bryan shadowing him. 5) Davies has played into his early 30's without understanding the offside rule. 6) Fane is our most important player.
  16. I saw that......he slipped.....wrong studs, I reckon.
  17. I've tried to ignore this thread........really I have.......but in the interests of a balanced argument I have answered your points above. One more point..................stop posting crap......there's a reason you've been downvoted so many times!!!
  18. I was at the match when Hypia played and remember stories doing the rounds after the match that Stott wasn't prepared to sanction a deal on the orders of J.W. Lees which left Sharp somewhat angry.
  19. Okaaayy.......so many people have got it wrong about Sheridan!!! Maybe you should start a petition to get him reinstated because clearly Wellens is not fit to lace Sheridan's managerial boots. Nobody is criticising Sheridan for miraculously keeping us up during those two seasons but football is like investments......past performance is no guarantee for the future. Your argument is based on hero-worship and blind faith with nothing to back it up.......but I will counter your blind faith with a comment he made on GMR shortly after his resignation where he stated he felt he couldn't motivate the players......that singular comment points to the possibility of the club spiralling downwards in a manner similar to his departure in 2009.
  20. FFS......you are suffering from a severe case of hard of understanding!!! Last 4 league games under Sheridan - 1 point with Ruddy. First 4 league games under Wellens - 10 points with Placide. WHAT MORE F*CKING EVIDENCE DO YOU B*STARD WELL NEED???
