  1. Simple question? Do you like GTA? Red Dead Redemption is basically GTA but set in the Old West. They could have called it GTA V: Old West and the name would have reflected the game perfectly. It's awesome.
  2. They finished interviews yesterday? Maybe they want to consider it for more than a day. Give them over the weekend and make an announcement on Monday.
  3. Maybe not, but do you think there is a difference between the top half of League One and the likes of Morecambe, Burton, Cheltenham....and well most of League Two? It's not just about the quality of the team you are in, but the quality of teams you are facing. Whits has faced a lot of better teams than us this season. In League Two he won't be up against the likes of Leeds, Norwich, Chalrton, Hudders, Millwall, Swindon, etc. Chesterfield are a decent L2 team, the sort who will be pushing for the playoffs. In that sort of team in their position in the league I can see him fitting in quite well.
  4. He'll be alright in League Two. When I say "alright", I mean, he could be a very influential midfielder in the league.
  5. Yeah, I understand that. But is it not customary that when players are being released they are free to find new clubs and are not required to return the club for training (even though some players are allowed to train with the club until they find a new one, I'm guessing this is at the club's discretion) or return for any promotional reasons. Kind of like Gardening leave? It just seems strange that we use a released player for a promotion, when the released player should be more concerned with finding a new club (basically finding a job) for the new season. Maybe I'm reading into it too much and that Danny was just down at the club for some reason or another and was asked to attend this for an hour or so. I'll let this one slide.....but if I see an upcoming promotion for a new kit, with Danny Whitaker as the model, then I'm calling conspiracy and claiming he's signed a new deal!
  6. Indeed, scored a 3 goals in 7 appearances here. Hardly the worst loan signing we've had. And he was playing in the crap team we had when we nearly got relegated when we played the likes of Bonner and Appleby in midfield (in fact they were the midfield pairing we played when we lost to Blackpool away a few seasons ago when it was chucking it down and looked like the worse team in the league, Cooper played up front in that match). It's probably fair to say that Cooper is better than all the loan strikers we had last season (well, the 08/09 season) who were playing in a better team yet could only muster 3 goals between them. Cooper went on to bang a fair few goals in at the MLS and and is now playing for 1860 Munich.
  7. Uh....so what's he still doing promoting the club's partnership with Tesco? http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/NewsU...2060219,00.html Shouldn't be y'know....trying to secure himself a club for next season...? He's re-signed hasn't he?
  8. "Player: WOW!!...WATCH BIG TRACTORS ON THE BOUNDARY PARK PITCH." http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/playe...2060385,00.html Brilliant.
  9. Just heard the news! Jim Gannon on a 3 year contract!!!  LOL JK.... I don't actually know anything
  10. Well, the sooner the better. We need to get some players snapped up before the likes of Carlisle, Tranmere, Hartlepool and Walsall beat us to them.
  11. I reckon Monday. Perhaps if the club move swiftly even tomorrow.
  12. There's no way on earth Steve Coterill leaves Notts County for Oldham. I'm scared that if we are offering the job to Jim Gannon that they will now pip us.
  13. He played pretty crap, whilst playing in a crap team this season. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and I'm optimistic in a better team, under new management and with a holding midfielder playing along side him, we'll see much better from him.
  14. I can't see an end. I have no control and I don't think there's any escape - I don't even have a home anymore. Definitely time for a new keyboard.
  15. Then again, I bet clubs like Fulham and Liverpool trial through 1000s of promising youngsters each year the majority of whom will be rejected and will end up outside of football. Michael Clegg played first team for Man Utd. Michael Ricketts actually played an England international game and look how they turned out. I wouldn't use the basis of the fact that he had a trial at a couple of Premiership clubs as a reason to think this kid might be any good. I'd base by hopes on the fact that Tony P has probably had a look at him and must have impressed him to a degree that he's actually been offered a deal here.
  16. I'd have settled for Martin Fulop to be honest. Still, hope this lad turns out a decent prospect.
  17. Refunds will be available at the club's discretion. Disgruntled season ticket purchaser: "Can I have a refund, I have to move down south to care for my sick father full time? And won't have time to attend." Club: "Sure, no problem. All the best." Disgruntled season ticket purchaser: "Can I have a refund, I don't like who you've chosen as the new manager?!" Club: "Uh.....no?....That's your own fault you moron. If your attendance to Boundary Park next season was reliant on who we appointed as manager, then you should have waited until we appointed a new manager before you decided to purchase your season ticket. I mean, it's just common sense really isn't it?.........Refund? GTFO!"
  18. Kilkenny to Middlesbrough? http://www.middlesbrough.vitalfootball.co....le.asp?a=199711
