  1. and the winner of the most tedious moan of the week award goes too...oafc_lover
  2. The reason there would have been a field day on here is Brill conceded numerous goals from free kicks. Cisask so far hasn't. I personally thought the Carlisle free kick was a great effort.
  3. Excellent blog. Agree with most of it. For me Dale is one of the biggest games of the season but I understand a lot of fans don't get it. Dale have always been what we must be like in the eye's of City fans. I know city have UTD etc...and we have Udders, Bolton, Blackburn etc..but this should be our biggest game of the season and hopefully one day in the future, it will be. But for now they just simply don't have the support but if they carry on going like they are, hopefully one day they might.
  4. I read not long ago that this squad was better than last seasons in Dickov's opinion. I laughed when I read it but I think it was just him trying to hype the team up. Key phrase "becasue we are two or three short, maybe more" Glad he's putting a bit of pressure on Corney to get someone in. The way I see it is we're already down with this squad but with a goalscorer or 2 and a couple more midfielders we may just stay up. This is going to be a long old season.
  5. Great point. It seems as though all some latics fans want to do is complain about our best players. How someone can start a thread saying we need to replace Lee when we have (in my opinion) a below average left back is beyond me. Taylor is our best player - he scored 11 last season and yet he's still not good enough for some Lee is one of the better full-backs in the league Furman is our best central midfielder I would happily bet anyone on here that all 3 players will end up in the championship or above if and when we decide to sell them. But then again, looking at this thread some people think Eardley will be back in league one soon?!? I know most clubs have fans who appear to know nothing about football but is it just me or do we have bloody loads of them? Selling Taylor will send us down. If anyone can name a suitable replacement for Taylor who will guarantee at least 8-10 from midfield without having to spend anything on them then please feel free to post the name on this thread. I can't think of one.
  6. Whilst i think everyone is entitled to an opinion, selling the only player in the squad who HAS got in to double figures (goalwise) in league one before (think Reid is the only other player in the entire squad to get in to double figures but he did it in league 2) is one of the silliest ideas i've read this summer. We need to sign more players who can and have scored consistantly at this level, easier said than done i know but selling Taylor would 100% send us to league 2. Unless they are offering Boyd and McCann (which i doubt they are)I would tell them to piss of and see where we are in january. It would make zero sense selling him now.
  7. Wouldn't even consider signing a replacement full back for Lee, more than adequate for league one football. We need at least another 2 strikers, if we carry on with who we have up front at the minute, i can see nothing other than a bottom 4 finish. You can't rely on a 21 year old signed for non-league football to keep you up. He looks very promising but it would be very unfair to level all our hopes on him getting 20 odd in his first season.
  8. Creative midfidler who is capable of scoring 20 goals...hmmmm...didn't we just sell one? Stephens wasn't the best player but by far and away one of our biggest goal scoring threats and was fairly creative in the middle but he's gone now so fook it, on to the next one for a season. This has to rank as one of the most frustrating pre-season's and it's not helped by the fact we have people writing so called "articles" who clearly no jack :censored: about what's actually happenning. If i see another article claiming there will be an imminent signing i'm going to cry.
  9. This is the funniest thread i've seen on this site. The answer to your question is no, it's really not worth a punt. One week of his wages would put us in to administration immediately.

  11. What exactly is the point of this thread? Are you suggesting we moan at Dickov for us not scoring a goal in 4 games. The reason why nobody is screaming Dickov out is we're 8th in the table playing some good football and we've actually managed to score more than 2 goals in a game this season. I aint been to every game this season but i was more entertained watching the hartlepool game than I was for the entire 2009/2010 season under that nonse. What a pointless thread.
  12. I wouldn't be so quick to blame everything on the council. Isn't the council made up of members from the population of Oldham?
  13. I'm 26 harry and have never seen the town in the "former glory" it once was. All I see now is dump. No point me harping on making the same point, i'm glad there are people out there that are proud of it. I for one could never and will never be. Love the club, despise the town.
  14. I'd happily wear one, i am ashamed of the town i live in. Fair play to those that are proud but I aint. It's a dump and i wouldn't give a :censored: if i left and never saw it again. The only thing i'd miss is watching the blues. Love the club, despise the town.
  15. Great signing. I'm actually shocked that we have managed to pull this off. Let's see if we can get old Whiskey Nose to lend us a striker as well, i'd take John Cofie if they wanted to let him go. Looks like a very bright prospect.
  16. http://www.exeweb.com/forums/showthread.ph...901&page=55 Scroll down for a super tribute from our club, signed ball and scarf. Nice to see.
  17. I really don't see how anyone is crucifying him to be honest? I think its a pretty valid point that he seems to be crying out with an injury time and time again and when he has been in the team he's been pretty average at best. I agree with the rest he needs to toughen up and get through it and if he can learn to do that then he may just be the 1 million pound player that he once was. As for who would buy him simple, nobody. We'd be lucky to get 100k for him at the moment. If there's anyone who can get through to him then Dickov and Taggart can in my opinion.
  18. Words fail me right now with the negative approach to that so called "open letter to the fans". The only serious suggestion I could make to that club right now is get someone in to do the PR because some of these letters and statements do nothing but make people even more confused about the clubs current situation. I think most people are behind Simon's attempts to keep the club going and i'm right behind the side (given recent signings which i've been very impressed with) this season but letters like that do nothing but inflame the situation. I'm not having a pop at Barry as I don't know him or the work he does for the club but everytime he opens his mouth with one of these statements/releases it seems to confuse a situation that right now doesn't need confusing. For me it seems clear that we are no immediate danger of going in to administration this season and if we don't find new investment/Micah Richards sale/Cup runs then the cloth will be cut accordingly for next season meaning the budget will be reduced once again inline with what we can afford. If that means reducing the budget massively then thats what will have to happen.
  19. Probably best someone inform the club that the game is in fact at 3pm on Monday. Maybe we will all get our wish and see a decent match with a decent crowd on a Saturday and actually be entertained at BP for once. Highly doubt it though, the players need their rest?!?! What a crock, if people honestly believe the club want to change the fixture due to Dickov wanting an extra days rest for the players then your mental. Its the same old story of the club NOT putting the fans first yet again. Id rather someone from the club just came out and said "you know it, we're skint and we would rather not pay a higher policing bill, we're sorry but that's that". Players need an extra days rest, laughable.
  20. What a joke. Does anyone at that club give a crap what we "the fans" think about moving yet another of our bigger games next season to a Tuesday night? We did it with Huddersfield last season and now for the Rochdale game at home just to save money on policing costs. I'm sure most people would prefer the game on the Monday for a drink and a bit of banter. It's Rochdale for gods sake not Leeds or Cardiff!
  21. If Penney is in charge next season i'll be amazed. How many people are going to get a season ticket next year? I sat in the main stand yesterday and heard one guy who has been a season ticket for 20 odd years walkout 15 mins early saying he would never even consider buying one. I know this is just one person but it's a pretty common theme on here and other mesage boards. Penney in charge next season = poor season ticket sales = far lower budget. So with Penney in charge I think we can expect the current toss that's on offer to remain in place next season and maybe even worse. I know people on here say give a manger time and "how long did it take Royle to get us going" etc.. But when Royle was in charge football was very different and managers had more time. Modern football doesn't work that way whether you like it or not. This is some of the worst football I can remember latics playing and we all have to remember, football is about being entertained as a supporter, how many time have you walked away from BP feeling entertained this season? I could count on one hand. Do whatever it takes to stay in this league and get shut of the moron at full time last game of the seaon. Risky game considering we have a tough run in but it's only real option.
  22. I would rather give my money away than pay £20 to watch that. I think you're right, the team isn't great but it's not bottom 4. The problem is we have a bottom 4 manager. Penny is a joke and the sooner the club sack him the better. I for the first time in my life and over 20 years of watching the club regularly don't know one person who is getting a season ticket next year. Say's it all. PENNEY OUT! GET OUT OF OUR CLUB.
  23. Yeah that's the spirit we need, 2 all draw home to Wycombe. I'm delighted. Some people on here are totally deluded.
