  1. even a stopped clock tells the right time two times a day!
  2. GAME IS ON AL JAZEERA. JSC +5 LIVE! GAME IS LIVE! ON TV! Get yourself down the pubs lads. http://www.aljazeerasport.net/services/schedule/epgweek.aspx?mode=1 for those who dont read Arabic.....click on EN & then select +5
  3. That's not correct as of a few hours ago - Supersport are showing it live across Africa. As they only got the rights to it today it's a)not out of the question someone else non UK will pick it up and b)that someone somewhere will put a feed online Believe!
  4. rather than moan about it you tightwads should have put some money in and put on a show like this... http://youtu.be/fSgtlKZcAgE
  5. :-) I'm clinging to the hope that a channel beamed at Europe will now pick it up seeing as the rights seem to be available. Come on Al Jazeera!
  6. the first foreign tv channel has come out of hiding - African sports channel Supersport 3. So if you've got a 1m satellite dish, live in the south of England and you're a cardsharer who is already able to get that channel then you're quids in. I suspect the sum people on here that describes is zero though. booo! still.......it's live on the tv out there which means there will be feeds out there which means we might be able to watch it. Keep the faith brothers!
  7. Used to be obsessed, then wasnt bothered for years, then became slightly obsessed again. I'm happy watching my pick of Premier League/Bundesliga/La Liga and a bit of Serie A if I'm feeling kinky. If there was a channel that showed every Latics game I'd watch all of them but there isnt so I have to make do with whatever else is on. I go to games within reach of my house whenever I can and of the 11 or 12 games I've been to this season so far only one of them has been Latics so I guess I'm the polar opposite of most others on this thread. I've also an increasing attraction to FC Schalke 04 which probably makes me unfaithful to the Faith and a bit of a deviant. Am going to my first match of the season tomorrow night and it's given me the horn to an extent I dont think Latics has in ages. Heretical I know.
  8. I also think they have a point but as large United away followings tend to end up vandalising the bejaysus out of things then it serves 'em right. And for being United fans.
  9. I believe the normal ratio (cant remember where I've read it but I have) is 1.5 standing places for one seat.So a stand that size could hold 6900 BUT the RRE wasnt designed for standing - it's been a long while since I've been in there so I cant remember the size of the steps so if you ripped them all out and put crush barriers all over the shop and maybe extra exits etc etc then it'd be somewhere below 6900 methinks. I cant see there being any change in the law any time soon I'm afraid. I'd love standing areas to come back, I'd probably plump for the seats most of the time but they'd put so much more atmosphere into games and they'd allow the next generation of fans the chance to afford games and get hooked for life. To any doubters then I say get yourself a cheap flight to Germany and check out a Bundesliga game. Megaphones, flags and fireworks arent up everyones street but the singing & general noise are something special.Plus you can have a pint on the terrace, magic. 'They' would obviously never allow us any of that but it's nice to have a dream.
  10. If Corney's trained monkey tells me it's better being played on a Friday that's good enough for me.
  11. Friday...f it.With heavy heart this is one glory hunter not now jumping on the bandwagon.I hope Corney has agreed to a date with less receipts & a stronger opposition because of some kind of reparation....cash,loan players etc. If not then he's an utter dick. Ah well,I'll live with missing it & there's always the next round.plus with a bit of luck it'll be on foreign tv
  12. I've only been to one Latics game all season so far and if I go to Liverpool I'm going to shout out increasingly bizzarre stuff along with loud questions as to who our players are and if Ben Burgess is going to get a game off the bench or not. I also hope I get a ticket at the expense of someone who has been to 357 reserve games on the trot. But dont fret you hardcore muthas, if Corney is to be believed the ground will be almost half empty. He knows how to talk things up that one.
  13. Corney seems determined to downplay things - estimating the lowest amount of money from the tie as possible & now claiming they expect 28000 there? Maybe he's determined to be right and is pushing for 1p tickets and a Friday night kick off. I cant see where he, or Liverpool, get 28000 from. Ah well, whatever - I'm just hoping it's on the Sunday. Friday night and I'll probably give it a miss, bah.
  14. you're right, I feel a bit bad now. Modern football has made a whore of me.
  15. I think those figures are net. Here's the non Luton figures ( http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/fa-cup-countdown-the-luck-of-the-draw-430657.html ). The Luton figure may not be net, no idea. The Everton figure of 140k works out at about £4.24 per person ending up with Latics with a total net profit per person of £9.32. That still seems a bit light even though tickets were only £20. The other games mentioned in that link cannot have had ticket prices that low I would think. The Liverpool-Luton game I mentioned was tickets at £24. I think a crowd of nearer 40k with the higher price would, using his Everton figures, be a little over 200k. So maybe he is right and I'm wrong. Wouldnt be the first time I've been proven to be fallible. It still seems a little bit light to me though so I'll still ring the fraud squad as I like to waste police time. Right, enough fannying about with a calculator on work time - the motorway and home awaits....
  16. if it really was only 200k that would mean the net receipts being 444k (45% each and 10% into some shared pot for everyone).Picking an attendance out of the air - 40000 - then that would mean only £11.1 being made per spectator. I think an estimate of 30k would be very pessimistic indeed but that would mean £14.80 The last time they played someone as lowly as us or Southend in the FA Cup 3rd Round was in 2008 against Luton. A midweek replay that pulled in over 41000 fans - checking the press of the time it is said that Luton picked up 500K. So...if Luton could pick up 500k three years ago is the crowd going to be 30% of what it was for Liverpool-Luton, are the ticket prices going to be 30% of those in 2008? Googling around for other clubs getting FA Cup paydays and Burton made (disregarding the home game and the sky money) £600k ticket money from a 53,564 at Old Trafford back in 2006. Again in 2006 Colchester at Chelsea. Chelsea had 'significantly' lower ticket prices than normal - sorry, no idea what - and Colchester still made 400k (not including the tv money) 2005 - Exeter at Man United - £653,511 for Exeter from a gate of 67,551 All those figures are purely gate receipts, no tv money included. IF we do beat Southend and IF the tickets arent a tenner a go and IF the crowd is approaching 40000 and IF the club still claim they only got 200k I'm going to ring the fraud squad
  17. Such a perfect perfect night Such happiness to be found in other people's misery
  18. have read this forum and see that Bradford are dirty gets who were played off the park and if it wasnt for the abysmal ref they would have had at least one sent off. Read Bradford's forum and Oldham 'played with 12 men', the ref was abysmal, if it wasnt for the ref etc etc, they should have had about four penalties and it's all an outrage. The best quote of all from the Bradford forum is that the occasion (QF of the JPT and all that, doesnt get much bigger) and the atmosphere clearly got to the referee. Hmmm, who to believe - good honest Lancastrians or some dirty moaning unwashed Yorkie beasts from over the hill? Judge Shiny finds in favour of the blue team. Oh, and their manager is a prick. edit - and another thing....I also saw Oldham referred to as 'Manc scum'. And the other day some scouser was saying that he wanted us to beat Southend as he loves hammering Manc somethingorothers at Anfield. Have these people ever heard us speak?
  19. If Latics get to Wembley and you dont go because of your new wife then you from that point on in life you are a sad shadow of a man with a huge big thumb print on top of your head. Do you want to spend your life doing exactly what someone else tells you to do even if it means missing out on stuff that is extremely important to you? Stand up! Be a man! And while I'm at it....what's the point of getting married anyway?
  20. He's a :censored:, always has been a :censored: but the majority of tics fans didnt give a toss because he was going to score goals. Then he went and it's alright not to like him again. He should still be inside.
  21. Happy Days! My half mast trousers and white socks make an appearance at 4:43 - always the style king
  22. I agree with Mr Stallone, Spurs play lovely football and I like to watch them but.....Harry Redknapp is an unlikeable character who has pulled off the impressive trick of getting a lot of people to like him. Spiv!
  23. the original plan was to scale the stadium down (costing even more to the taxpayer than building the white elephant in the first place) to be a 25000 seater with running track. I presume Orient's interest would be in that plan being brought back into play. If West Ham get it then it'd be scaled down to 60000 seats (dont think that involves altering the building too much). Tottenham are, I think I'm correct in saying, now completely out of the running as it's staying in public hands and will have to have a running track which was never part of Spurs plan The Orient fanbase will still be rattling around in there with huge empty spaces mind you but 25k wont be so drastic.
