  1. regarding Sterling, I know he got some much deserved booing today but some micky mouser on twitter has been accusing the 'sickening' 'disgusting' Oldham fans of making monkey noises at him. I have said she heard what she wanted to hear, heard a black man getting booed and made 2+2 into 5. She's adamant though. So....did anyone hear anyone cross that line? It's distinctly possible someone may have done (and boo hiss to them!) but I know full well that the Oldham fans en-masse definitely didnt and she's full of poop. Plus she's from Bolton. A Bolton Scouserphile.Eurgh. I have of course pointed out a Latics player being reduced to tears a few years ago and then getting booed by thousands of Liverpool fans at his every touch but that doesnt count because they're the world's greatest fans, very knowledgeable, a great sporting public. Oh, and very very loud and vociferous as you all heard today ;-)
  2. Not sure I believe the Ricoh story, probably cooked up by the fevered mind of a Coventry mong.My brief foray onto twitter yesterday showed that they've got a fair share of those. Also wondered what happened to the 20 odd on the hill.Maybe they couldnt see the goal Coventry were attacking in the 2nd half so went to the pub. Rather than over principled I had them down as people who cant stand the thought of missing a game but simultaneously dont want to break the boycott. What a mess that club is!
  3. all now sold out! sing yer hearts out boys and girls! I didnt get one but hey,I'm not moaning and not sure I could be arsed travelling up for it anyway. Yep, I'm that dedicated. Be there for the 4th Round game.
  4. shame as I'm not a ST holder and I dont think I know one. But admittedly I'm a fully signed up part timer so deserve nothing but scorn and contempt. Hopefully it'll be on Al Jazeera - fair chance I should think - and then I can plot a way of getting a ticket for whoever we play in the 4th Round.
  5. the title of this thread reminded me of an advert that popped up on the RRE Scoreboard when Andy Rhodes made a save - was it "What a save. I bet he drinks John Willie Lees Bitter"? Something along those lines anyway - or was that one of the games when I'd taken magic mushrooms?
  6. Shall buy one to wipe my, aaaaaaaaaaanyway if anyone needs a lift to Schalke this Sunday give us a shout ;-)
  7. I guess we just have to watch how things pan out at Salford. He's done alright by them so far. They'd be out of business but instead have a whole new squad and what looks like an exciting future. I actually bumped into him outside Old Trafford the other week and briefly congratulated him on shaking things up in the RL World. Would have loved to talk about Latics with him but he had his little girl with him in a big, moving crowd so let him be (for which he was most probably thankful!)
  8. cheers, knew it would be in there. I'm 200 miles away though & now they charge you for research. Not sure if they'd charge me for wandering across the room and leafing through a book but you never know.
  9. morning my blue comrades, bit of a long shot but I remember there was a book on all the Royton pubs past and present. Does anyone here have a copy as I'd be interested in having something looked up for me on the 'Old Engine Inn' which was,I think, down Middleton Road past Haggate
  10. I believe that is his twitter account.Have never seen anything to doubt that
  11. Makes me laugh that Corney says he wont sell to someone who wants to move from Boundary Park. As if that has been his sacred mission all along. Anyway, guess it's SC for perpetuity now. Joy
  12. for me it's a combination of several things - the atmosphere, the good mates I've made, the drinking, having a fag if you feel like it too.The whole matchday experience pees all over anything in England. I still take far more joy in seeing Latics score a goal than S04 but the whole day out/experience thing is poles apart. I genuinely cant see why normal folk on normal wages go to watch Premier League football - dreadful prices & a bland experience. Yeah, the football is sometimes decent but football's about more than that!
  13. last night there was no choreography (Chelsea wouldnt have it) and I would wager it was still the loudest set of away fans at Chelsea for many many years. To see a team lose 3-0! ps - do see your point about an English crowd in full flow but how often does that happen? We need terraces and we need them now!
  14. Also I see they use the somewhat controversial term of 'wheelchair' for someone who's in one!
  15. yes, alcohol is banned for Champions League games,European and World Cup Qualifiers (cant say about finals as I've never been) As for Germany - was at Hertha v Schalke last Saturday and Chelsea v Schalke last night and the atmosphere generated is far beyond anything you'd get in England. Only with the reintroduction of standing will the noise ramp up. Although saying that I had a seat for both of those games (I only used the one at Hertha to stand on when we banged in the 2nd in the 94th minute and the Chelsea one not at all) . Such a shame you lot have the love in with Eintracht Frankfurt but hey,ho - no accounting for taste
  16. There's another heartfelt plea in the MEN from someone else with Salford's interests upmost in their mind to leave us well alone..... http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/sport-opinion/barker-beat-koukash-urged-not-4687533 pipe down Barker. Whoever you are.
  17. I'm sure the fact that the Ground and the Club are two different entities would slow things down considerably. Let the NYC connection have their housing land, sell the truncated car park back to MK/Latics and jobs a good un. Believe! Oh Marwan Oh oh oh Oh Marwan Oh oh oh He came from Palestine to make the Latics Shine etc
  18. Nah,it's all a smokescreen & we'll be in the championship before you know it ;-)
  19. A couple of posters say it's Preston with an air of authority...does it say this in the Advertiser or is it just your opinion (or you've heard it elsewhere?) The only place I've seen it is on this forum. Little fact...PNE are over £40M in debt.Another point...Koukash said he was going to bring back figures from when the club was big....who?Tom Finney?
  20. I reckon this one has a lot more legs in it yet, whatever the Advertiser says. If Koukash is at the Broncos v Salford game in a couple of weeks I'm going to do whatever it takes If, however, Corney has scared him off for ever with his asking price then I'd suggest that we are completely and utterly f'd. If spendthrift multimillionaires cant afford to buy us because of all that lovely lovely land we're sitting on then we're dooooooooooooooooooooooomed
  21. I jacked it in after an hour. I used to listen quite a lot a few years ago - I did suffer a concussion around that time which must be the explanation
  22. a couple of mates of mine were at this one - in fact I think one of them actually arranged the game , strange that I ended up good mates with red b******s but there you go.I've got an invite to their game at Wimbledon this summer but think I might be sticking pins in my eyes that day. Looking forward to them losing in the playoffs again next year ;-)
