  1. Nah Monty, he's out injured. We can't afford to waste wages. We should switch our attention to match fit number 10's - like Hazard or Mata...
  2. Sod Grimes, Warrington's striker Scott Metcalffe was IMO the best player on the pitch. 26 years old though, so it's not exactly like he's a hot prospect of a 18/19 year old. That said, his fitness seemed pretty good for someone only training 2 nights a week and working a full time job. 11 goals so far this season. Heart says is he worth an extended trail with us to have a real look at him? Head says no, he's too old to be plucked from non league to the professional game really. He did have a very good game though. And - well done Warrington. Ah, the magic of the FA Cup eh?
  3. He's right though isn't he? I've said the same regarding Poleon. He has pace, bucket loads of it. But i'm not sure what he is; football wise. He's not shown too many flashy tricks; and as LJ says, his touch is pretty poor. So, whilst he's quick; I dont see him as a winger. Up top, he hasnt shown too much so far by way of decent hold up / link play either. His finishing also looks (being kind) slightly erratic at best. So, is he a striker? Not sure. LJ is bang on from what i've seen. The downside to this is, whilst LJ is spot on, he's the one who brought Poleon here. Time will tell if he's able to do what he managed to do with JCH, namely get him developed to a point where higher placed clubs will become interested. Just as JCH was, it looks a long road with Poleon though, he has soooo much to work on...
  4. Hopefully so. I'm just not sure they exist anymore. After 13 games unbeaten, with a fair chunk of those draws, it was never going to entice these mystery lapsed fans back for that reason alone. It's still such a fecking useless letter, a real cluster:censored: of a PR exercise, even re-visiting now...
  5. Throwing it out there: Lockwood, Smith, Wes, Grounds, Brown, Rooney all played last season. They're not this season. Lockwood and Smith & Wes in particular gave away countless free-kicks per game; and as a side; that lot picked up a decent amount of bookings. Kusunga was responisble for a sending off and several bookings. He's not really featured much until very recently. We have didferent players in the side over last year. We play a completely different style of football, that isnt a 'siege mentality' defend for your lives one now. That will have massively affected the number of fouls and bookings. Strikes me a 'Barry does a great job' snippet to boost his profile after his latest cluster:censored: of an open letter article this does to me...
  6. I think it's quite obvious isn't it? Season Ticket holders and committed pay on the dayers bring their friends/family/work-mates etc. I know for the Liverpool game, several people from work came. Their teams range from City, United, Chelsea, Spurs and a Rugby League Leeds Rhino's fan. None have been back since. All came because they fancied going to a big fixture with Oldham Supporting mates or relatives. There's a line of these Thousands of Lapsed fans out in the Borough. For me, it's a Myth: we dont have them anymore. We have certain people who will come along for 1 off games every few years if the feeling takes them; but they're not lapsed fans. They're not fans of ours to start with...
  7. I don't think it's a question of being 'too cool' to not watch them - well it isn't for me anyway. It's a question of me not having any connection, feelings or motivation to do so. Once i'm back from watcing our game, i'll find something, anything, to do or watch instead of England. I'll probably end up watching Strictly Come Dancing with the wife. I'll get more enjoyment out of that too. Anyone still fervently supports the National Side; fair play & good luck to you. I lost the interest ages ago. It's each to their own; it's not about being cool or not... Edit: would help if I spelt Strictly properly really...
  8. Stands. Back. And. Waits. For. A. 19 Page. Thread: "Corney Speaks Out" etc
  9. Keanu Marsh-Brown is having an extended trial at Peterborough. Junior Red Nose is interested in signing him. Barnet looking for a fee even though he hasnt played for them yet this season. Hmmmm. Hope they have locks on their lockers in the P'boro dressing room (alledgedly!! ;-)
  10. Well that's 10 minutes of my day I'm not going to get back isn't it? Oh well.... EDIT: Rosa's Panda pic at least made me chortle...
  11. I was pissed, and it's ages ago too - but didn't he flick the bird at a section of our fans at Hull? And he was Captain at that point wasn't he? Anyone who was sober on the day, and still possesses a decent memory, remember what that was all about?
  12. I can't speak for HarryB; but i've got in from work, cooked a nice tea for me & the wife; and now sat on my couch with a beer watching Arsenal in the Champions League. You?
  13. At left back we have Mills as the obvious 1st choice. Elekobi played a big number of games at LB for Wolves, and he'd be 2nd (as i see him as 1st choice CB alongside J Wilson) Then we did have Connor Brown - but he was on his wrong foot on that side, and was a poorer LB than he was a RB too. Some would have him as our 3rd choice though. On top of that, we have Dave Mellor who, again, whilst out of position, has played there plenty of times. And finally - we have the young prospect in Jack Truelove; a natural LB. I'd say that even with Connor Brown leaving, we're still very well stocked for options as cover should Mills' leg fall off or similar... Connor, IMO, wont be missed as RB or LB cover; we have plenty of options; most better than him. This loan move is good one for him to go an get games, he wouldnt be here...
  14. Firstly, good luck to the lad with this move. I see it's only a 28 days emergancy loan; but if it suits both parties, I guess it could be extended? I've been critical of Brown in the past, but I genuninely hope this loan move works out for him. He's not a very good footballer, but he has worked at his game and made improvements in certain areas of his game. Unfortunately for him, instead of the siege mentality functional football we played last season when he was in & out of the side, we've moved on. The style & tactics we now play unfortunately show him up for all his footballing defects. Mainly, in a side where passing and movement seems to be key, he falls massively down. I was pretty annoyed he was re-signed; as I was worried LJ saw him as 1st choice. With that type of player ability, I was worried it was sign of where we were heading this season. Brian Wilson's signing and Kusunga's re-signing thankfully meant Connor Brown was purely squad filler and, as just that, he's fine. 3rd choice RB, and 2nd/3rd choice LB - he's more than fine for those roles when needed - which, so far, hasnt been much at all. ....and that's a problem for him. He's not going to improve any if he's not playing. Thankfully for us, he's not been needed much at all, and B Wilson and Kusunga have both been impressive so far (long may that continue too!) Frees up a tiny bit of wage, gets him games (hopefully?) and - well, it's not affecting the team either. Decent move all around really, and good luck to him...
  15. I'm honestly not sure what he is? Striker? Winger? 100m sprinter? He has pace. Searing pace. And, he has a low centre of gravity when in posession, which should make him hard to get off the ball. But, he doesnt look to have a 'footballers brain' a la the man he's "replaced" - JCH. His finishing is pretty loose and hit & miss, and hasn't really impacted a game either starting or coming on as a sub. I mean, even his 1 goal so far, in the JPT, he couldnt miss and was such a simple chance, it hardly tells us anything. Jury is very, very much still out on him. And - at this time; i'd prefer the Wilkinson of his last 2 games for us, to the Poleon of the same.
  16. Sidders Set up their equaliser according to Jeff S on SSN.
  17. Keith Hill doing yet another cracking job there. Sometimes a club and manager just work. Gannon and Stockport was a recent one, looks lime Hill & Dale are another. And you know what? Fair play to them. You'd guess they're operating on a similar if not smaller sized playing budget to us. For them to be 4th, and us to be just outside the playoff spots; i'd say cudos to both of us at this stage of the season...
  18. It's about one of our ex managers favourite words now: Bouncebackability The unbeaten run realistically had to come to an end sooner rather than later, and TBF, plenty guessed it would be today. The next few games are now hugely important, to get a couple of wins again and start another unbeaten run going. Well done to the 490 who made the trip too...
  19. That only kicks in on Tuesday's and Saturday's. And when i'm sat in it...
  20. I'm really not blagging, i think he's sat in my seat there. And i didnt say he could... #johnsonout
  21. Well there you go - i'd completely forgotten about Wayne Andrews scoring. I'd put it down to old age, but then i'm not that old...
