    I think the inspection was at the request of Swindon who were setting off at 12.30 today as they wouldn't want the expense of travelling up and hotel stay over only to find it had been called off tomorrow. I still would have liked us to hold off until tomorrow but I can see their point of view.

    There was the classic from Atherton when playing in Australia and he nicked one and didn't walk, Ian Healy called him a "fu**ing cheat" so he just turned round and said "when in Rome my dear boy" Atherton is a big believer you should never walk as it balances out with the times you are given out and shouldn't have been. Gilchrist always walked but to be fair that is made easier when your average is about 60.

    New Nike store on Market Street in Manchester has a picture of Mr Rooney on the front and has been daubed with " Join City And Youre Dead " I know they are upset but it is no excuse for poor grammar. Morons.

    My mate at work is following Fergie's press conference and Rooney won't play tomorrow night because of an ankle injury!!!!!! Rooney has told him he wants to leave, Fergie didn't want him to but understands his decision, there has been no argument between them

    I think our batting on the flat Australian tracks will be OK but my worry is taking 20 wickets, Anderson can struggle with no swing, Finn still unproven, Broad temperamental, which leaves Swann who will be the key. He is going to have to bowl very well and for long periods.
