  1. Completely agree Frankly, I go in that stand (as I've done in for most seasons since 94/95) as I can't really afford my ticket anywhere else at the moment and despite this fact my son more often than not misses Saturday games he's still got a season ticket too. Think SW needs a reality check as those sorts of comments are bang out of order especially from a Trust Director. He should concentrate on fan cohesion not alienating them with ill thought out holier than thou comments. Oh and £238 to get the drenching we got on Saturday, yeah we got our just desserts............fool!
  2. Yeah, that stood out for me too. Haven't got a leg to stand on, I hope!
  3. Like you I believe that any allegations of intimidation and threats to be completely unfounded. I also take offence at libellous comments relating to 'marching yobs'. Any Judicial review would want to see evidence and police records etc..The problem with the residents around the ground is that they are used to getting their own way over the development of this particular area. Many are retired and not wanting to sound particularly patronising to the local residents but as many are well past retirement age perhaps this has given them renewed vigour and purpose in their daily lives. One thing is for sure this is not over by a long shot and await Heweitt's letter with baited breath. As for TTA selling up and leaving the land to be mass developed anyway, the locals are so blinkered by their own failure to see reason they will probbaly get their just desserts. I respect the way the club wish to work with them, but my patience would have snapped years ago!

  5. Looks like they're going to try every trick in the book exactly like they did over Sportspark 2000. THE group opposing Latics’ redevelopment plans boycotted Tuesday’s meeting and issued a statement citing fears for their personal safety – and alleging the decision was a "done deal" beforehand. The statement said: "We have been advised by two leading figures, on separate occasions, of the potential for abuse and intimidation over this matter. We understand also that there have been specific threats made to an individual and his family as a result of this application. We are not convinced that the steps needed to avoid any incidents have been taken." It added: "We do not believe our attendance would make any difference to the result. We feel it is a done deal and this meeting is something of a stitch up." Residents Together allege the council planning department has taken "unusual steps" whilst "every pressure possible has been piled on to committee members and the case has been brought back with unseemly haste". The group again rejected the expert traffic projections and vowed to continue their fight. "We do have a number of alternative ways to defend our neighbourhood from such an overbearing development than the planning process, where intimidation and pressure may not be quite so successful. This issue is far from over" PLANNERS cited three reasons when rejecting Oldham Athletic’s original planning application on November 14: the scale and massing of the proposed development, traffic issues and the loss of open space. So what was done to rectify these concerns? SCALE: Latics’ amended plans made reductions in the height and impact of the proposed residential blocks nearest to homes in Downham Close. However, as the original proposed number of apartments (693) remained the same, some blocks in the centre of the site increased to eight storeys in height. Club officials say each unit lost would cost around £30,000 and there is no alternative funding sources available. TRAFFIC ISSUES: Data in the traffic report was clarified. Traffic consultants JMP independently reviewed it and found it to be both "acceptable and accurate". However, the football club has now also agreed to make a financial contribution towards improved pedestrian crossing facilities needed at the junction of Sheepfoot Lane and Rochdale/Oldham Road. LOSS OF OPEN SPACE: The plans still include the demolition of the Clayton Arms sports hall and ‘Little Wembley’ training pitch. But Latics have now agreed to a new so-called section 106 agreement. That would mean the club would provide replacement changing facilities at Clayton Fields, and possibly a new artificial pitch at Cathedral Road. However, Latics’ co-owner Simon Blitz said he hopes that will not happen and confirmed again the club’s intention to continue consulting residents. "We’re not going to stick two fingers up at them," he said. "We want to build something that they will be proud to live next door to." 6. I think the whole point of this development is giving the club the facilities within the stadium itself to make it self-sufficient. The conference, office space, banqueting and hospitality will do this to a certain extent as will proper dedicated concourses with bars and proper catering outlets giving the club a previously unprecedented opportnity to maximise both matchday and year round 24/7 revenue. Within the new stand there will be more office space for the club wich will in turn allow the club to employ its own in house marketing department rather than the contracting out we have seen in the past and the one man and his dog approach. A lot willbe depending on the 'feel-good' factor of a new ground but this will only work for a season or so, the football side will have to be successful for all this to work. In short I expect the facilities directly linked to the club to be the club's income, anything else is unlikely to be our concern, thus Brass Bank Holding Company, seemingly being kept separate from OAFC.
  7. Don't really give a monkey's what it will be called it will always be BP to me. Same as the Chaddy is the Chaddy, Broadway/Lookers is just that main stand is main stand and the Rocky is the Rocky, they can name it the KY Jelly Arena for all I care as it will still be Boundary Park to the vast majority, simple as!
  8. A sponsored curry attended by all Lookers season ticket holders the night before the Walsall game should do it!
  9. Thing is when it was built it was the MAIN (Only) Stand! The rest has evolved over the years, If you look at the old photos the superstucture (except the roof) has pretty much remained what is was when it was built the best part of 100 years ago!
  10. Yeah somehow we lost that game 4-3, but Neil's loan signing (along with Andy Holden and Jon Hallworth) proved the catalyst for us to go on a run that got us out of trouble in 88/89 after an horrendous run from the end of September - to the beginning of February where we won only 2 out of 19 games. My outstanding 2 memories (apart from his winner v Manure) of Neil Adams are his brace in the last three minutes at Goodison to nick us a point, which Joe Royle later referred to as THE turning point of 92/93. The other occasion was him clearing off our line vs Brentford in the FA Cup in 90/91, yet 5 seconds later he was burying Rick Holden's cross in their box to clinch a 3-1 win.
  11. Straws and grabbing are the words that come to mind. But knowing Hewitt he will search every avenue to put a spanner in the works. Not heard the last of the residents I fear but at least we can get the ball rolling and jump over each hurdle as it presents itself. I think everyone will be a little nervous until Phase 2 begins as we know Phase 1 is pretty much set in stone now (the new North Stand is a given along with the 100 odd proposed dwellings and associated facilities within the stand). Still can't help but feel very jubilant his morning although a little sad that even though the ground is a dump, it is my dump! But it will be fantastic to start the season in 2 or 3 years time in a great new improved ground hopefully in the Championship with the club at least breaking even and the town having a new gateway off the motorway to be proud of!
  12. I was there (again!) and made it in time to actually get into the chamber this time. Hopefully tonight will go down in history, but this is only the beginning, there is still a long way to go to realise our vision. Thank you TTA!
  13. Beardy definitely need 5 seats now. (Thereb won't be any more!) Can I give Wardle the dosh on Boxing Day?
  14. Beardy - Prozac + 3 Now (ScouseLatic, Prozac Senior & my bruv) So thats 4 of us, that i'm hoping it is it!
  15. Painstakingly scanned and emailed to the wizard of vid's. Not bad if I do say myself!
  16. Spot on mate. People have very short memories and need to realise that Trotters is still a kid not the messiah. Whilst he has been superb a dip in form WILL come. As for Stam think he's a very good player but prone to stupid lapses in confidence. Onto Gregan, when he came last season it coincided with a wonderful run that saw us to the top of the league, he then had a didp in form along with many others and we finished the season rather feebly. The hangover continued at the start of the season, yet once he gained a partner that was a little more mobile than Thompson the old Greegs swagger returned and before his injury his form had returned, proving the old saying, form is temporary, class is permanent and Gregan at THIS level is a cut above. IMO Gregan and Trotters for me once Seany boy is fit with Stam and Rubes as cover and to keep fatlad on his toes!
  17. Probably going to need an extra seat for Prozac Senior please Beardy, so thats 3 seats now please from WH mate.
  18. Done to everyone on the list! Dear Sir, We wish to offer our support to Oldham Athletic in their application to improve its own facilities and the surrounding area around Boundary Park. This regeneration project will transform a windswept eyesore into an area the townspeople can be proud of. I firmly believe that his project is likely to be the catalyst (and a clear example of a flagship project) in attracting further funding for much needed large scale regeneration and the establishment of more much needed leisure facilities within the Borough. The Ritchie report made clear the importance of wider regeneration within Oldham in order to project the benefits to all and help rebuild community cohesion and relations. At the centre of this ambitious improvement plan will be a stadium all sections of the community can be proud of and hopefully the perceived improvements in accomodation for supporters may see a welcome increase in supporters from all areas of Oldham's diverse community. There will also be much needed key-worker housing for Hospital and NHS staff. The owners and their co-directors are determined to drive (excuse the pun) both the football club and the town forward and send out a message to our beleaguered townspeople that yes the town has a future and they are not just throwing their council tax down the drain. As you will have realised by now I am not alone in supporting this project and public opinion is such that the vast majority of Oldhamers (not just supporters of OAFC) have the progressive vision to whole heartedly support this wonderful opportunity for change, probably because they can see the wider benefits to THEIR town. The planning committee on the 11th December has the chance to do a great duty for a much maligned town, Oldham has a glorious past, now is the time to send out a message to everyone that the Borough of Oldham will have a progressive future! Yours Sincerely Mr and Mrs. P Prendergast Chadderton Oldham OL9 8JP
  19. The guy with the squeaky voice at the back of the Chaddy used to have me in stitches as a kid in the mid-late 80s
  20. Drew 1-1 at Vale Park this afternoon, great result for 'em good luck to 'em I say. Manager was quite a humble guy after the replay and the money from the BBC has set them up big time and i'm sure they'll benefit further from SKY showing the replay, as i'm sure they will.
  21. The clock in between the NSM and the Rocky Road end and snack trolleys around the pitch perimeter. Happy Days!
