To my mind it costs money to handle cash . Based on "my" assumptions a) Cost of having floats to give out change on the turnstile Banks charge for change b Cost of banking the takings.I believe that banks charge for "banking" cash c) Costs involved in getting receipts from a ground to the bank Security company d) On match days it must be much easier to scan tickets and arrive at an attendance figure quicker and accurately hence less staffing costs Just a few thoughts off the top of my head
