  1. Well the football was better in the league 1 relegation season that's a fact you are right we were playing league 1 football. We are now 2 leagues lower and not all the teams in this league are even full time professional. The majority of the games will be crap but if we come out Victor's in enough of them we will go up. I don't think you are the only one I still think alot of us are still acclimatising to the National League in some way or another myself included.
  2. Hes definitely the type of bloke who belongs in the Dull Mens club on Facebook which ofcourse I am a member too.
  3. Nah Tuesday is a nailed on win, next Saturday on the other hand.......
  4. Sounds like a really good win glad for everyone who went hope they've had a cracking day out. James who?
  5. With a little bit of irony everyone around us winning too with the exception of the top 3 who are all drawing. But most importantly we are winning and playing well.
  6. I suppose with Kitch out then we don't have anyone who can slot into his position of LWB so we have to change formation. I'm guessing we are going 4-4-2 with Hogan in at LB Sutton RB Hammond on the left Green on the right.
  7. We just need to hear stories about blokes he met in the pub, not sure why anyone would form their world view based on a bloke they once met in the pub. I also always imagined Wiseowl was the type of bloke who had a mail order bride. Don't know why he just gave off a certain vibe.
  8. The simple fact of the matter is Dan Gardner is now out the first team picture and he's not responding to BPs emails we could be 20 points clear at the top and it wouldn't matter.
  9. I hope he's given the microphone and we don't start the game until 4:30pm as far as I'm concerned. Let the man speak.
  10. Absolute Shite! Thought I'd get that in before anybody says it.
  11. Which is why I think we are a good National League side rather than a great one. The side that was built during David Unsworths time was big and physical, it wasn't one that had alot of flamboyance but it could be good enough to get results as they kept their shape when wothout the ball relatively well. Micky Mellon has made us abit better with the ball but he can only do so much its not a possession based side and interms of philosophy I think he's more a pragmatist than an artist. Its not a team that cuts teams up at will. That's the next step we probably need to go to should we stay down in this league. But if we are to go up this season then Our best chance looking at the squad we have does appear to be of playing in a way where we won't be good on the ball necessarily but may well be capable of out fighting the opposition.
  12. I can't help feeling the history of the club is somewhat being used to slightly unfairly judge the current side. This is a national league side so the last 2 seasons is the lowest level any of us have ever seen, so by historical standards this side may well be seen as "crap" However for over 12 months now our results have been that of a top 7 team, so this is a good (Not great) National League squad. That's how I'm going to judge it. The football won't be great compared to historical standards but we are well oncourse to finish in the top 7, top 3 is unlikely, 4th-7th is. We have what is likely a top 2 budget so finishing in the play offs could be seen as performing slightly below par but not by much. The fact we are going to be in the play offs gives us atleast a punchers chance of going up. Once you are in it 3 knock out blows will be enough to send us upto the football league. We will likely face atleast 1 away game. Just look at our away form we should back ourselves to go away from home and win. The last time we saw a play off team was 06-07. None of the current team would get into that side. But neither would any of Chesterfields team either and they are going to win this league by atleast 20 points. Their is room for improvement but I don't think we will have to be much better than we are now to go up.
  13. Looks like either a narrow 4-4-2 or possibly a midfield diamond with conlon at the base Lundstrum amd Hammond on the sides with Ward at at the tip of the diamond just behind the strikers. But I think it's more likely a narrow 4-4-2
  14. You can be highly intelligent and still be bat shit crazy as I'm sure you know. Certainly would have to be to follow Jon frickin Worthington half way round I wonder what line he used on her.
  15. I might start to worry we won't finish in the top 5 if we don't win tomorrow night. I say I might I probably won't. But seriously with Norwood out for potentially a couple of months someone needs to step up, it's an opportunity for someone and they have to grab it. We win a the next few games then the mood will change and we can put the last 2 games down to one offs or the National League being the National League.
  16. I wonder if that bat shit mental American bird is still stalking him.
  17. No I wouldn't put much faith in politicians either although in fairness to the current council they have invested in a new pitch for both ourselves and the rugby club to use. Might not seem alot but it's more than we've got previously considering the amount of times ambitious plans for new stadiums bit the dust.
  18. Yeah but Yorks a nice place you can make a weekend away of it. In terms of away days ideally you want pubs and a train station that are really close to the ground like Brentford, Crewe, or Leyton Orient. Its generally the feedback I hear from other clubs supporters.
  19. I'd hate for us to bring him back too quickly and him potentially breakdown again or be playing at 60-70% of what he was. Not saying that's going to happen I'm no physiotherapist or doctor but you see it happen when the team's talisman gets injured and they try to rush him back too quickly and it back fires.
  20. It raises an interesting point this though I do think the transport links to BP aren't the best. We often here of teams coming to Boundary Park that we would take more away if we were in that position. Boundary Park isn't what you would class as a good away day. We are miles from a train/metrolink stop and their aren't too many decent pubs around the ground and that's before you factor in Boundary Parks famous inclement weather. Most of these problems are actually outside the clubs control, the addition of Bar station zebra has greatly improved the matchday experience for home fans, but it does show we are up against it when you look at the external factors.
  21. You could also add 14 years of failed Tory Government where they have talked about Northern powerhouses and levelling up and nothing has been delivered to what you've just said too.
  22. If we were to do a bus ourselves where would we do one from say going from Shaw through to Royton and then BP. Would 1 from the centre of Oldham work? It would be interesting where in the borough we draw our regular match day going support from.
