  1. Sorry to get back on topic but anyone think the lad might not want to go anywhere at the moment?
  2. could put them in the stocks and get Smalley and Davies to shoot at them, but they could be there a long time
  3. Asolutely bossed the midfield, playing with players that he probably dint know the names of. Started too deep for me then pushed further forward and showed that to be a defensive midfielder you don't have sit 5 yards in front of the centre backs. Was awesome . Just hope it wasn't a case of first game magicianship.
  4. If we get more than £350k + add ons for him I will show my arse on the town hall steps.* PNE sound favourite to me which is why we have got JJ with them paying some of his wage * I would just like to point out that anything posted on this site is not legally binding

  6. must have imagined this then. Mind you it was a nightmare that day. http://www.soccerbase.com/results3.sd?gameid=507695
  7. The rarely wrong says £350k and is's going to be accepted. Plus poss £150k in add ons http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/SPORTT01.html
  8. on official site http://www.oldhamathletic.premiumtv.co.uk/...1227590,00.html a distinct absence of we've told them where to go we are not a selling club we have no need to sell we are trying to strengthen the team not sell our best young players most clubs trot out one of the above if only to bump the price up. the 'we'll keep you up to date' bit looks like a euphemism for 'we'll let you know when he's gone' Not looking good
  9. Dennis Wise going to Newcastle as director of football. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ted/7213096.stm please move to right place mods!
  10. Hi Lags Porter was 23 , my error. But getting back to the original point isn't the situation with Trotters the same, if he goes to an English club we go to a tribunal but if he crossed the border then we would get nowt? Just spotted the Senor's quote I only know this because it came up last week when a young player at Motherwell was linked with a move to Boro, the article said that if he waited for his contract to run out at the end of the season Motherwell would be due compo due to being under the age of 23. thanks chaps I need to do some more swatting!
  11. Are you sure about this Senor? (sorry to doubt you ) But I thought the under 23 thing was something that applied only to England having been given dispensation by UEFA I thought Bosmans between countries occurred no matter what the age which is why the big clubs like Arsenal have all these foreign kids who they have picked up when their first contract has finished and they haven't had to pay a fee. I also thought Porter was only 22 when he left which is why we could have gone to a tribunal if he had gone to Plymouth.
  12. Is it? i thought it was exactly the same. If he signs for Plymouth we agree a fee or go to tribunal but if he signs for a club from another national league we get nowt. That was my understanding, have I missed something? One more thing just because that Plymouth site says it's going to happen doesn't mean it will. It has been wrong before (just put the kiss of death on that now - he'll be in green and white by lunch tomorrow!
  13. Hi DB hope you got home safely Can you tell me where your footage of the bother is again?
  14. I think the saying is 'tar everyone with the same brush', but you may have left an apostophe out. I keep looking on youtube but can't find your footage. Please tell us where it is. Good luck in the next round. Keep the faith with stitch.
  15. remember him taking a right wing corner with his left foot in the 6-0 thrashing of Hudders in '74 (scored 6 goals 3 times that season I think) The ball was headed out to where he'd moved to after taking it about 5-10 yards in from the goal line and 5 in from the touch line. He just volleyed it back in first time over everyone's heads right into the top far corner. Magic.
  16. yes it is so that's gone. I do think they rather misjudged the current climate if they thought that was going to be funny
  17. I think you might be missing the view point of the people I was talking about here TSB ( ) 'if he gets so good that he gets snapped up' then he will be a 'good for nothin' two timing disloyal , useless, money grabbing, son of a bitch, who we didn't want anyway!
  18. [.4 games - 2 goals and once of them was the evrtone one which didn't take much creating. 4 passes before the shot the last time I looked .... but why let the truth get in the way of a good story? Are you a journalist?
  19. People like a lot of what Davies can do and realise his undoubted ability. What they forget is that if he could do it all the time then he wouldn't be playing for us.
  20. I do wonder if that sort of loan is going to be the only way forward for us when one looks at some of the silly money being mentioned for transfers - and that is without the wages. I see Millwall have paid £150k for Grabban which if it is a yardstick would price us out of going for anyone even as good as what we have, let alone better. I liked Grabban, thought he had potential but he has proved nothing yet neither with us nor Motherwell, and that seems like an awful lot of money to me. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...all/7200742.stm
  21. always been a bit confused about suspensions. Dont boolkngs suspensions take 10 days to come into effect?
  22. Remember it well. for some reason I was sat in their end. Hmmmmmmm....and yes it was 6 My nomination would be the first time my mum allowed me to go to an away game on my own. Chesterfield in the cup, I'm guessing about late '71, I would be 13 ish. I got the coach from Yelloways on Yorkshire St and we lost , poss 3-0. We set off home just after 5pm but it started to snow. it got heavier and heavier and the coach couldn't get back up the hills( possibly out of Buxton) you must remember this was pre motorway days. I can remember getting off the coach at the bottom of a ruddy great snow covered hill and loads of us pushing cars up it as we remained marooned at the bottom. We all went into a cafe we had found to warm up and wait for the gritters etc. My mum had given me some extra dosh in case of an emergency, which i thought meant buying chicken and chips in the chippy ( she later informed me it meant phoning her up to tell her I was ok if there was a problem) We eventually set off and got back into Oldham about midnight. i then rang my dad to come and pick me up and the scene i arrived home to was not pretty. My mum and various Aunties were in our house all weeping convinced I'd come to a sticky end and I got the mother of all doggings. Don't think I was allowed to go to an away game ony own again until I was about 34. If it helps to confirm the date i'm sure Bournemouth beat someone(non league? ) on the same day by 9 or 10 and ted McDougal scored 6 (ish) Happy days!
  23. OXO are to bring out a new black and white striped cube........................ A laughing stock!
  24. I suppose that it's the beauty of the game that we have different views (as long as you remeber that mine is right) I didn't think it was a good performance at all really. We didn't do that much wrong but we didn't do enough right in my view. They only had one shot on target all game but I wasn't surprised when they scored either. A big issue for me was that with 20 mins to go i said this is the time to bring that sub striker on who is fresh and will give them something else to think about as well as using the gaps they were leaving. Wolfy is not that man I'm afraid and if we getinjuries to hughes or davies we are knackered. We need another striker andmidfielder rapidly. i thought a win today was crucial if we were to have any chance of making the play offs so I suppose the Cup Final will have to do.
  25. I was in there and suggested that someone should get off his back. The response was that last bastian of the numpty head 'I've paid my money mate so I can say what I like'
