  1. Have you not got a bigger picture? 86/ 87 season. Irwin (can't tell properly), Paul Jones, Goram, Gorton, Linighan, Palmer Willie, Barlow, Ron Futch, Darren McD, The housewives favourite, Ryan, Henry, McGuire? Williams, Colville, Atkinson, BFJ, Cec, Milligan, Hoolikin. KtF, Derek. Edit: oops, forgot Urmson next to who I suspect is McGuire.
  2. You can see the real trophy with our name gloriously emblazoned all over it at the footy museum at Deepdale. It's free to get in too (well at least it used to be). KtF, Derek.
  3. Was he the guy that always had really rosy cheeks? A bit of a pre-cursor to Andy Linighan if you will. Oh, and I have added some more old pics to the IOM 87 thread for anyone that is interested. KtF, Derek.
  4. He is only right you know. Just got my book out, diamonds were 79/80 and 80/81 season. The pic is from 81/82 (still older than I thought though). The only player that we haven't got that played a first team game for us was (Neil?) Firm. Wylde bagged 16 in 34 games for us. The following season was the same shirt but with the Lees barrel on it. KtF, Derek.
  5. Didn't notice IC had left big Jim out Exile. The two I am strugglig with are the one to the right of Steel and the one between Sinclair and Anderson. KtF, Derek.
  6. McDonell - that's the bugger Mart. Yes it is the kit before the diamonds on the sleeves one. KtF, Derek.
  7. Martin Nuttall next to Wylde IC, and I think it is Steve Edwards between Atkinson and Ryan. The other two have me stumped too. KtF, Derek. Edit: and surely it is Peter McDonagh?
  8. Those were the days eh Diego? Large collars and Jim Steel hair. I bet you are reminiscing with Mrs. Sideburns as we type . KtF, Derek.
  9. The club could learn a lesson or two by looking at this. A classic shirt. KtF, Derek. Back: Gary Hoolickin; John Bowden; John Platt; Peter McDonnell; Paul Futcher; Kenny Clements Middle: Rodger Wylde; Martin Nuttall: Darron McDonagh; Nick Sinclair; Andy Birchenough; Dougie Anderson; Jim Steel; Mark Cooper Front: Paul Atkinson; Steve Edwards ; John Ryan; Ged Keegan; Roger Palmer; Paul Heaton.
  10. Blimey! It is a good job you never used JKL then! KtF, Derek.
  11. Other than TV money none of that counts. The FA and two competing clubs split gate receipts and media cash only. Can't really see Chelsea turning round to Nike and saying something along the lines of 'We sold a thousand shirts today but we are only paying you for four hundred because we had to split the gate money'. Can you? Way to go Einstein, you views just become more and more folly filled. KtF, Derek.
  12. OS 40% to each club, 20 to the FA. Average ticket price at Chelsea is about £39 and pence not £48. KtF, Derek.
  13. Those are facts not views, plus I the added question about you being the dipstick that had a stand up row with Corney and made himself look quite the village idiot. So no views there then. I rarely post views on the games or the players and management on here because I don't like the way the board is run nor the format of it. With the demise of what I think are far superior boards though I have little choice other than to read here to see what my fellow fans are thinking. I take my choices and all that, but if you dig around you will find the occasional post by me on the state of it all as I see it. By the way, are you the blert? KtF, Derek.
  14. A million or more sheckles you think eh? Cloud cuckoo land laddie. At only 1 place in this country is there a possibility of a nailed on Million pound game with the 40, 40, 20 split (though you may just scrape one at the Emirates). Old Trafford holds a good twenty odd thousand - possibly stretching to over thirty thousand - more than Stamford Bridge. It generates over two million pounds per game at full ticket price. Chelsea holds thirty eight thousand or so, so possibly in the region of 1.5 million gate receipts max at £40 a ticket which weighs in at about six hundred grand after the split. OK it is not an undesirable sum of money but you are way off the mark. Luckily though, you are closer to the mark with your erroneous financial guesswork than you are with the rest of your post - which I have to say is utter drivel. It has often been said when debates get heated that the club don't need fans like you; and I argue against it quite a lot as the club needs every fan it can get IMO. Today though you have taken the biscuit. You aren't that blert who was arguing with Simon Corney a few seasons back at the fans forum are you? You know, the halfwit who wanted his money back but in all reality turned out to be a bit of a drama queen? Oh and go on, lemming me too. It's a shame I don't really like this board enough to be bothered posting my views. KtF, Derek.
  15. You . Deano has taken a massive step up this season. I bet you rate Taylor too.
  16. To be honest I thought we were the better of two pretty poor teams today. So much possession so little creativity. Crossley 6 - not much to do but what he did was OK. No chance with the goal. Eardley 5 - poor distribution OK defending. Was OK in the first half but shocking with his decision making in the second. Stam 5 - Did well in the air was shocking on the floor. Trotters 8 - did well against the experience and phyiscal presence of Beckett. Won loads in the air and was a threat up the top end. My Latics MOM. There was one better player on the pitch. Hazell 6 - never a full back. An average performance by an above average player. Kalala 2 - and one of thse points was for putting his boots on the correct feet. Shockingly bad. Distribution woeful. Not the right kind of game for him. Midfield bypassed makes his battling qualities of no use. Gets a nosebleed if he has to pass forward. A very Ray Wilkins. Not good enough for us by a million miles. Everton excepted I haven't seen him have a good game. McDonald 6 - worked hard but not comfortable on the right. Needed his energy in centre mid in place of JP. Allott 7 - best midfielder on the pitch but was overworked by lack of any meaningful support. Took his time and had a cool head on. Only just pipped by Trotters for MOM. Taylor. Jesus where do I start? 1 brilliant cross half way through the first half that took everyone out of the game. Unfortunately no one took advantage. At least half a dozen corners hitting the first defender is extremely poor. Too soft. A defender only has to square up to him to make him turn sideways on doesn't want it enough. Lucky not to be booked for a shocking challenge, which was cowardly and late, in the first half but the ref was looking at the tackle seconds earlier on Smalley. I am sorry he gets a 1. Worst player for us on the pitch. The sooner we are rid of the over rated waste of space the better. Davies 6 - I thought he was the best player on the pitch in the first half. Full of running and ideas. Second half he lost interest totally and his decision making was poor. Smalley 7 - Worked his nads off against THE best player on the pitch. Page was awesome today and that experience against Deanos zest was always going to win. No change from the Hudds stopper today but the one time he got away from him he produced our only noteable effort on goal. A great prospect. Ultimately very soft way to go out after our efforts at Goodison. KtF, Derek.
  17. Only got mine today, Lookers upper but god knows where. The Mrs bought it for me. Roll on Friday and payday. KtF, Derek.
  18. Might replace him in the boozers in Royton from all accounts. Replace him in centre mid? Never in a million years, and I don't even think Kilkenny is any great shakes compared to Wellens. Shez is still left with the dilemma of fitting square pegs into round holes to fill Richies boots and the best option for me would be Lids when fit. Until then we have to soldier on 'cos Taylor isn't up to the job. The lad is so over rated by so many it defies belief. If all it takes to be raised to the heavens on this board is to support the mighty, well there are many of us that could be heroes despite being crap. Verndog in, Taylor out. The sooner the better IMO. KtF, Derek.
  19. The Verndog plus wonga for Taylor? I would take that offer everyday of the week. In my humble opinion Taylor is the most over-rated player I can remember at BP for many a year, I really don't see why everyone raves about him. Scott on the other hand was a striker showing plenty of promise who had to be used as the lever to get Wellens to BP, and I for one was disappointed to see him leave. Taxi for Taylor!!!!! KtF, Derek.
  20. Thank the lord for that. It is shocking and about as tangerine as a banana. Best option of last season was voted out because everyone thought it looked like Blackpools away kit. The awfulness we are playing in away from home defies belief. Rubbish!! If we want to go back to tangerine, do it properly not that half arsed salmonish affair we have going on. BTW is pink becoming fashionable again? Juve had a fantastic away kit about three years ago that was pink. That will make us stand out. Oh for Nike instead of Carlotti! KtF, Derek.
  21. I will forgive KP the Jadeisms if he signs for us. Far better than Clarke, who I think is no slouch himself at this level. Personally, I think Parker can offer loads more than Leon, he can be a deep striker and a wide player. Ripped us in the playoffs at BP coming in from the left. Maybe we do need a lump up front and Parker wouldn't solve that dilemma, but there are plenty of lumps around, what we need is a little inventiveness and Parker has that in abundance. For all those daydreaming about Nish from Killie. Forget it I think. Apparently the Cabbage are interested. Hibs v Oldham must be a no brainer for a player. Cue all the posts about how rubbish the SPL is. I would be very surprised to see Nish here if this rumour is true. KtF, Derek.
  22. Ah well. Would have liked him to stay to keep the numbers at a decent level; though much like TN I am not bothered about him moving on. Never really saw in him what others did, thought Crofty was the by far the best of the two when the initial signing was made and then as Prozac mentioned the season we scraped safety the 2 purple patches from CK and the signing of Beckett were far more influential IMO. The odd hollywood performance followed by mediocre ones all too often. I would prefer somone who wasn't quite as talented but could put in consistent performances game after game. Maybe time for Allott to step up a level with us now? He has been pretty decent of late and consistent with it - perhaps Shez can squeeze a little creativity out of him? Not sure if Cywka would come back to be honest, he was often over-looked in his time here. I think he only got the one start in the JPT (Prozac?) against Chesterfield - looked a decent prospect though with a fair bit of talent at his disposal. Shez still needs to replace Wellens though, lets see what he does by the end of January. KtF, Derek.
