  1. Information is lacking to the extent that the only one known to have played is McEleney.
  2. In the OS item about McEleney, it mentions him playing in the behind closed doors friendly on Tuesday in which Latics beat Man U 3-1 at Carrington. RW also referred to it briefly in ‘This Week At Latics’. Surely any victory against the richest club in the world, at any level, in any location, is worth more publicity! Who are ya? Who are ya?
  3. Sorry, nothing available other than the info in the reference books. It won't come as a surprise that Latics signed him for an undisclosed fee, all be it a four-figure one!
  4. I've asked some people, who have watched League of Ireland games for many years, about McEleney and got these comments:
  5. Oldham Event Centre @oecnews Feb 13 Patrick McEleney tells our Broadway Suite guests tonight that he is close to full fitness.
  6. " The second half was a difficult watch as both sides failed to create much."

  8. The FA could be protecting England's World Cup hopes.
  9. Spurs' manager worried about Dale's pitch. The FA is to help Dale by subsidising a pitch protection programme....whatever that is! http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/fa-league-cups/rochdale-pitch-tottenham-fa-cup-mauricio-pochettino-not-fit-fifth-round-a8200896.html
  10. Looks like the earliest suitable date is Tuesday 20th March, avoiding possible Cup replay.
  11. Oldham Athletic SLO @OAFCSLO The issues with the PA system have been reported to @OfficialOAFC, on numerous occasions. The club are fully aware that there is an issue. And are trying to get this rectified. 2:52 PM · Jan 29, 2018

  13. NOTE: This information may be out of date in an ever-changing world. Blackburn Rovers, Ewood Park, Nuttal St, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB2 4JF Away fans are housed in the Bryan Douglas Darwen End, which is shared with home supporters. The spacing between the rows of seats is quite tight. Seats in the lower tier are allocated before the upper tier. NOTE: If you have not bought a ticket in advance, then you need to buy one from the away supporters ticket office located on the corner of the Darwen End and the Jack Walker Stand. Disabled Persons’ Facilities - Club Access Guide: https://www.rovers.co.uk/fans/supporters-with-disabilities/ How to get there: By Car (watch out for those four thousand holes): From the North: Leave the M6 at Junction 30 and join the M61, at the first exit join the M65 and head East to Blackburn. Ewood Park is well-signposted on the M65, leave at junction 4, join the A666 and head towards Blackburn. The ground is about a mile away on the right. From the South: Leave the M6 at Junction 29 and join the M65 and head East to Blackburn. Ewood Park is well signposted on the M65, leave at junction 4, join the A666 and head towards Blackburn. The ground is about a mile away on the right. From the West: From the M6/M62 or M60, join the M61, leave the M61 for the M65 and head East to Blackburn. Ewood Park is well signposted on the M65, leave at junction 4, join the A666 and head towards Blackburn. The ground is about a mile away on the right. From the East: Travelling from Yorkshire, either on the B6234, the A56 Haslingden by-pass or the Skipton Road, join the M65 and head West. Leave the M65 at junction 4 and head towards Blackburn on the A666. Ewood Park is about a mile from the motorway on the right. From the M62 leave at Junction 18 for the M66 Bury, travel to the end of the Motorway which becomes the A56, join the M65 at Junction 8 and head Westbound towards Blackburn. Leave the M65 at junction 4 and head towards Blackburn on the A666, Ewood Park is about a mile from the motorway on the right. Car Parking Car parking at the ground costs £10. Various private car parks are available in the area around Ewood Park (especially along Branch Road), costing in the region of £5. If you want to get away reasonably quickly after the game (the roads immediately around Ewood Park are closed off for crowd safety for around 30 minutes after the game) then as you come down the hill on the A666, you will pass a BP Petrol Garage on your left. Turn right at the next traffic lights into Branch Road and down on your left there are some industrial units offering match-day parking. After the game turn left out of the car parks, so that you are going away from Ewood, turn right at the second mini-roundabout and this will take you back up to the M65. By Train: The closest railway station is Mill Hill which is around a 15 minute walk to Ewood Park. It is served by trains from Blackburn and the journey only takes a few minutes. On foot from Mill Hill Station: Walk up the steps from the platform and turn left onto New Chapel Street. Continue along New Chapel Street passing a shopping area and park. With the Spar supermarket on the opposite side of the road from you, turn left into New Wellington Street. Continue down New Wellington Street until you come to a small bridge that crosses over the Leeds Liverpool canal. You are now on Albion Street there is a large mill building on the left and a small school on the right. Walk along Albion Street to the end, and you will find yourself on Livesey Branch Road. Turn Left onto this road, and you will be able to see the ground in front of you at the foot of the hill. Blackburn station is served by trains from Manchester & Leeds and is at least a couple of miles from the ground. On foot from Blackburn Station: From Blackburn Station turn left at the main doors and go straight on towards Darwen Street. Turn left and you will reach a major junction over which runs a railway bridge (Darwen Street Bridge). Crossing over the road as soon as you turn left onto Darwen Street will be a help, as when you get to the junction you need to follow the road towards Bolton. It is called Great Bolton Street, and after the bridge it becomes Bolton Road. Follow this straight along for just over a mile (passing the Infirmary on your left and the canal on the right). After you go under another railway bridge, the ground is down on your left just after you pass the Aqueduct pub (for home fans only). By Bus: The main doors to the railway station face the Bus Station on Brown Street, from where you can take either: No. 1 (Darwen Cemetery – Darwen – Blackburn – Accrington) – Departs from stand 15; or No. 2 (Chorley – Darwen) – Departs from stand 14. Where to drink: Alcohol is also served within the ground. The closest pub to Ewood Park that away supporters can use is the Fernhurst on Bolton Road, which is part of the Hungry Horse chain, is only a five minute walk from the turnstiles. It fills up quickly and once full no further fans are allowed entry until people leave. NOTE: In keeping with the 'family atmosphere' of the pub, fans are asked to refrain from singing. NOTE: Uncle Jack’s on Branch Road is now only for home fans The Thwaites’ Golden Cup small pub which is further on past the Fernhurst (a twenty minute walk going away from the ground) on Bolton Road and is tucked in by the motorway bridge. It gets rather crowded and it is a good 20 minute walk (and mostly uphill) from Ewood Park. It is friendly and also offers a range of pies, but it gets crowded. You can also park at the pub for a cost of £5. The Black Bull pub at the top of Bog Height Road (this is the road next to the Golden Cup and one mile up this road on the left) is home to the Three B's Brewery and has up to eight ales on tap. You can also enjoy great views over the surrounding countryside and Blackburn from its elevated position. On the other side of the M65 motorway on Blackburn Road but going in the opposite direction to Ewood Park towards Darwen, is the Anchor Hotel, which welcomes away fans. Around the corner from the entrance to Blackburn Railway Station is a Wetherspoon’s outlet called the Postal Order. Where to eat: The refreshment areas in the ground are opened 90 minutes before kick-off and close 15 minutes into the second half. Outside the ground is a baker in Bolton Road selling hot pies from one of its windows. Across the Bolton Road by the home end is a McDonald’s. If you are coming in from Mill Hill Station there is a wider choice, with numerous chippies and kebaberies located on New Chapel Street.

  15. In the early days of the North Stand I saw Mark Moisley among the seats while an announcement was being made. I asked him if he could tell what was being said and he said he couldn't. There was a period when the problem seemed to have been solved, but it was very short-lived.
  16. RW said on Radio Manc that Nazon is not match fit and he had only intended to bring him on for 30 minutes.
  17. On 13 December I emailed the Club: Having read the 'Action Counters Terrorism' item on the official site, and particularly the advice that in the event of a major incident inside the stadium, it is vital to listen to all official club announcements and follow all safety instructions, it has reminded me that action needs to be taken to make the PA system audible in the North Stand. Supporters sitting around me experience the same inability to understand the announcements. It has been a problem for many months and would become an embarrassment in the event of an emergency. I'm not bothered about not receiving a reply - I just want the problem solved! BTW I could here the announcements loud and clear when parking on the car park.

  20. I’m looking forward to another paragraph being added to the Club’s history on the official site, the last paragraph of which reads currently: More recently, Latics fell on hard times and were forced to go into administration in the summer of 2003, but some much-needed financial stability was provided when three American-based businessmen - Simon Blitz, Simon Corney and Danny Gazal - purchased the club the following November. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/club/club-history/
