  1. the keeping coach did alot of work with ollerenshaw as if they were going to bring him on. that might have been a good idea becuase it puts brill in his place, letting him know he cant cock up and get away with it, and give ollerenshaw the experience he needs if he wants to be a better keeper
  2. my first reaction was who? but i think a premier league reserve/youngster would be good as it could benefit both parties. penney says he doesnt want to loan but surely he has to. is the loan market open because the sooner brill is challenged the better.
  3. when will purdie be back to fitness? i really hope he is the missing link becuase there arent many goals or creative thinging coming from anywhere, especially midfield
  4. in the first half, i thought he was ok and had a couple of runs at their left back (who a fan sat near me renamed 'softing' after a challenge early on) in the second half though, i actually forgot he was playing
  5. but then you look at the manner of the defeat and although there are positives, there are negatives too. we dropped four places and conceded 3 sloppy goals.
  6. i thought southampton werent impressive but did what they had to do to win at this level. i wouldnt say both sides were equal but we gifted them two goals. saying that, though, lambert could have had a hat-trick and they placed a sitter wide. if only we could have someone with the quality of lambert who did nothing wrong today
  7. i agree there, i appreciate times are hard but didnt they put a downloadable print-off poster last season? if the club made a bit more effort, they would see the rewards
  8. if we can keep lallana quiet (tough ask) and a couple of others, i think we will do ok. i remember when leicester came to BP last season, we upped out game and i think we'll do the same on saturday. also, what do we think the crowd will be. im going for anywhere between 6000-8000, southampton wont bring much
  9. i agree there and most people do stick with latics through the bad times but you have to see it from their perspective and then at least you can say you can see where people are coming from.
  10. i am really impressed with not only this result but the way we have been playing. we have been creating chances and defending well. one goal conceded in five games is impressive and that was a fluke own goal. it also surprised me looking at todays substitutes, the inexperience we have on the bench yet they first team are playing so well. a bit more cover would be nice but 5 games unbeaten wont see me complaining.
  11. i thought that would come up and no but if the club put a bit of effort, they may see the benefits.
  12. Firstly, great result today but as i was trying to find bbc radio manchester for a report, i found bbc radio lancashire instead. there were preston, blackpool, burnley etc fans calling in to say that they went to see accrington to give them support and that they had a great day out. i was thinking about this and maybe latics should do something like this to attract new fans. international breaks and city/united away days would be the time to try and get their fans to come to BP and if the club trial or put something into this, they may get a return and an attendance increase which is what we're missing.
  13. i saw that, a bit disappointing from an ex-manager. other than that, 0-0 away at charlton is a great result especially without arguably two of our best players i think in sheehan and taylor. i heard dean furman on bbc radio manchester saying team spirit was really high and that all the players get on well. if we can keep this and the unbeaten run going, we could cement a place in the playoffs
  14. its not abbotts but is there room for a 'oooh keigan parker' (to the 'tune' of 'oooh roger palmer'?)
  15. the thing with sheehan is that he can cross a ball and with abbott and others, we could pose a threat from that sort of position. i saw jacobson in a friendly and he looked ok but sheehan has impressed so if there was a way we could keep him until the end of the seaosn at least, id take it
  16. they are some tough fixtures so they really need to put some good performances against southend, mk dons and yeovil especially to build up to what could potentially be a thrashing at charlton
  17. league one vs league two playing macclesfield at home... there is a bit of a difference there
  18. tell me about it. mind you ive only been to the one this season
  19. i think :censored: was ill but what about the other two and will they be out for long?
  20. :censored: is ill so maybe its down to that
  21. no blackman or holdsworth? whats with that?
  22. ...we'll actually go down? This is a serious question. a bad start doesnt mean relegation. this time last season when we were top of the league and everyone was saying we'd get promotion. i would be very very surprised if we finished 18th or below and i think mid-table/top ten is where this team has the potential to go.
  23. those were my two both great strikes/flukes. didnt charlton say after the game that someone was running at him so he just hit it forward?
  24. just a quick question, why do all the loud latics fans that sit next to the away supporters only start singing when the opposition score a goal? can someone enlighten me becuase it seems abit strange to me
