  1. I wonder what the process is now - do they give a call to someone who has already had an interview or do they do another round of interviews with new applicants, as the previous ones interviewed did not do enough to justify them being offered the position in the first place. Either way the clock is ticking with the fixtures being released yesterday, the players under contract only have a week left of their current contract remaining and not even a new kit to play in. You couldn't make this up could you.
  2. My problem with Adkins is he had possibly the largest playing & staff budget in league 1 last season and couldn't get Sheffield United into the play offs. Yes he has done a good job at previous clubs Scunthorpe / Southampton spring to mind. Would and could we afford him and his demands I very much doubt it. Along with Coterilll, Dowie and other names that have been mentioned. Evans would have been a great appointment but alas it wasn't to be. Which leaves the likes of Redfearn, Robins. Adams or Bunn. IMO
  3. Yeah count me in, makes the tournament more interesting when England bomb out early. ?
  4. Yes and look what happened in January we suddenly had a bit of hope and could see a bit of light at the end of a very dark tunnel. To go down the route of an inexperienced manager again like Bunn, Feeney, and others mentioned. Would be foolhardy and we need s manager who knows what it takes to get out of this league. Like I previously stated Steve Coterill is my choice experience at this level and more importantly has won at this level and beyond. That is if he has applied.
  5. Will Corney and the board ever learn their lesson and for once employ someone with experience, substance, a bit of wow factor and who will get the paying fans bloody excited about the coming season. Instead of the inexperienced :censored:ing cheap option.
  6. If we can afford him and he has applied then Steve Cotterill for me. Has done a brilliant job most clubs he has been at most notable was his time at Cheltenham, Notts County and more recently Bristol City. I appreciate his time at Forest was a bit sour but lots of stuff going on at the club at the time If I recall. He knows the league well, and his team plays decent football (just look at Bristol City and how they romped this division). Doubt we could afford him, or his demands with regards to the playing budget. But if we use that as a rule of thumb then we wouldn't be able to afford half the people on the poll. Reckon it would make one hell of a statement of intent though.
  7. You can't deny the quality he brought to our team when he played. Or the fantastic job he did last season when we all thought it was too late and we was going to be relegated. In my eyes a legend is someone who sees out their promise if he had stayed 3 years and seen us get promoted then yes legend status would be no more than he deserved. However to jump ship at the first opportunity to a club he has no afflilation with when the job was only half completed to give all us fans hope for the coming years no I am sorry good player decent manager but no legend.
  8. At least the new manager whoever it is, will have a clean slate and his own players to bring in and work with.
  9. I presume the lads we have offered new contracts, will have a date set for their answer anyone know what or when this is? 1st June / July is usually when the players contracts are up, but I hope it will be before then, so Shez is not being messed about and risk the chance of losing out on some players he could get in. With regards to the players who we have options on or are still under contract it may well be that the club is trying to negotiate longer contracts rather than just take the one year option that the club has hopefully this the case for Tim Dieng,
  10. 20/1 with Paddy Power 1st goal scorer tonight. Worth a couple of quid. He always tries to get forward and usually has a pop when in a decent area.
  11. There are some good free signings and loan deals to be had I am sure, but just a bit disappointed and frustrated like many fans I am sure that after the comments made by Shez that no one has come in today.
  12. Free signings and loan deals it is this then. What a crap boring deadline day this is.
  13. To be honest Mighty I have never been to an Argyle game when Oldham haven't been playing at Home Park. a few of my mates when the green army are doing well try and badger me to come along, as of yet I have resisted. My loyalties are blue!!! The Devon derby is always a feisty affair, as are the matches when the Bristol clubs come to town. Both teams are going well and it should be a great game and atmosphere.
  14. Very surprising that he has taken this job, as he left Plymouth to be closer to his family who still reside in south Yorkshire. Mutual departure was the phrased used in the local; press at the time as his contract had run out and wasn't going to be renewed. Wasn't loved by the Plymouth fans down here even after guiding them to safety in his first few months of joining the club when they was in the relegation zone when he took over, flirting with the play offs during the following season and then guiding them to the play offs in his last season at Home park. where they lost to Wycombe. From the Plymouth fans that I know down here most didn't like his managerial style or the tactics employed, not moving his family down to the south west didn't endear him to the green army as he was spending most of his time commuting to and from South Yorkshire. Argyle are doing very well under Derek Adams now though their playing some really attractive, attacking football, scoring goals and have made some really astute signings. (Remind me why I still support Latics lol)
  15. 550 Advance tickets sold according the website throw another 2-300 pay on the day should be a decent tonight under the lights. Here's hoping we score more than 1 goal and win 2-0
  16. Bristol City didn't seem to have a problem with playing 3 at the back and wing backs last season. As long as they are coached right and the team's structure and tactics are correct against the opposition then it shouldn't be a problem.
  17. Does anyone think that we will be active again in the transfer market prior to the big kick off? Will there be the usual Friday midday scramble for loan signings or players who believed they were worth more than they have been offered at other clubs or here and then suddenly drop their wage demands to ensure that they are hooked up prior to the big kick off. I think we all agree that we still need that elusive centre half, but apart from that I can't see there being anymore coming in, unless someone is sold in the next 48 hours. Thoughts?
  18. Can't get commentary on the match anyone else having problems with the sound on LAtics PLayer
  19. I think the writing has been on the wall for B Wilson once they offered Brown a new contract and went public about looking for a right back / right sided versatile defender.
  20. Forte, Cassidy, and Poleon is a more than decent front 3 at this level and as long as they can stay fit and find some consistency. if we can get the likes of Philliskirk, Green, Jones and Winchester, Turner and Murphy. scoring a few during the season, then scoring goals this season shouldn't be a problem.
  21. Agreed that Kirkland could / should still play in the Championship but at his age and injury record will he be a managers constant number 1 keeper in that level.
  22. Chris Kirkland has been released by Sheff Weds - Anyone think that this is the type of goalkeeper we need to bring in, very experienced and at 34 / 35 the age where he maybe considering taking up coaching, played at the highest level and someone Coleman could really benefit from having at the club and who he could learn from and push him for the Number 1 spot.
