  1. Lived in Plymouth off and on for about 20 years. So as you can imagine I know lots of Argyle fans even the Mrs and her family. Plymouth away was the first match I looked for when the fixtures came out. It would be good to take 3 points of them just for bragging rights. Shame it is so close to the festive period as I am sure it has put many off making the long trek down the M5 for the game. Back on topic though Fulham away and also Newcastle are 2 grounds that I have never been to and always fancied going. Mainly for the pre and post match social.
  2. On Wellens 2nd part of the Bury pre match interview. He stated that the club had been in discussions with 2 people. 1 had ties with the club previously but Latics couldn’t afford his wage demands maybe that was Shirtliff. The other one is currently in employment with another club and he didn’t want to let them down. So the search goes on.
  3. Get in. We are staying up say we are staying up!!!!
  4. Get in. We are staying up say we are staying up!!!!
  5. I used to enjoy watching the football masters on sky - they should bring that back.
  6. Chris Long signs for Bolton on loan till the end of the season from Burnley They may need to free up some cash now so does this pave the way for the Ginger one to heading back to BP.
  7. This may have been a case of a free loan from Brighton and the lad is a decent right back with the added bonus he gives us cover at left back, which frees up Wilson to cover centre half if needed. With Dummingham out for an expected 6-8 weeks are we really going to see him around the first team again this season. If Hunt is better than Law then it is a decent loan. I am pretty sure that Shez is still looking for other options in midfield (hopefully a left sided one and a creative one) before the window closes.
  8. With regards to Matt Chambers Tweet - As posted in another thread - Rob Hunt possibly in from Brighton & Hove Albion another Right Back?
  9. You want to se some of the farmers wives that are on that show.
  10. Location and favourite colour - Although it does sound like a dodgy cheese.
  11. I wonder if it will it be another 6 month (end of season) deal, hopefully it will be a 18 month deal. I hate all these short term deals not being able to plan for the following season we need some continuity and plan in place, Also the players mind set could be well I'm not going to be here next year so what do I care if the club gets relegated. On the flip side of that it may push players on to perform better and try and earn a better deal at the club or another one when their contract is up.
  12. Anyone know of any sites that you can stream the game. I am non Non BT subscriber. Sky fleece enough from me. Would hate to miss our 2-0 away win. Cheers
  13. I was looking forward to this fixture before the fixture machine made it a midweek game. Always try and go to to London matches and do an overnighter. A few hardy souls from Oldham and a few from the south. Be very surprised if there is more than 250. Shame as if it was a Saturday pretty sure there would have 750-1000 there for it.
  14. Banks or Croft for Mantock is the only change for me.
  15. There hasn't been any commentary on Latics Player for any of our pre season games so far. So I wouldn't hold out any hope of there being any for this one either. Not that us far away fans have missed much. Shocking service IMO.
  16. Not seen any games due to location, so mainly going off comments from posters on here. A left sided wing back / full back Danny Lafferty type. Lack of creativity in the midfield and final third is a worry as is the lack of natural pace in the team. A poacher to go alongside the big hardworking forwards we have. Anyone disagree or have any other thoughts
  17. So with 2 pre season games done and dusted albeit against better opposition and 2 teams that were way ahead of us with regards to their pre-season, fitness & tactics. As Latics fans are we optimistic about the coming season? What else do we need with regards to players? Has enough been seen by fans to say that Steve Robinson and his management team are likely to pull this club out of the doldrums and have us a top ten team or better come May? I know it is far to early to make sweeping remarks based on what has been seen and after such little time with the players on the training pitch, but I would like to gauge fan opinion at this current stage.
  18. Very light on experience. Not the be all and end all of a decent team but surely the next 4 or 5 signings must be first team starters. Hopefully the gaffer is waiting for players demand to drop. We are all for blooding the kids and seeing one our two flourish in the 1st team but to throw them all in would be a disaster.
  19. I would take a 30 year old 1 in 4 striker, over some of the tosh we have had playing up front recently.
  20. IMO it will be either Clarke or Hughes I don't think we would need two mid 30's centre halves. The lack of pace would destroy us. You could possibly add Gerrard in that category too. 1 of the above with possibly Burgess on loan (if the rumours are true). With Edmundson & B Wilson as back up.
  21. I think every managers initial aim is to to keep the club in division. Get to the 50 point mark and if that is Jan or Feb reevaluate. If that is the 46 game then he has achieved his aim. There is no point in saying we are going to be promoted as it will only make him look a fool if he doesn't achieve it. Yes every manager, coach, chairman & fan wants their club to be at the top end of the division but let's be honest we don't have the budget or yet the players to be thinking like that. I fully support the new gaffer when he says "Get the building blocks and foundations in place and then make progress"
  22. Baraclough has had a decent playing career, and by the looks on Wiki, did a very good job as a manager with Sligo Rovers and a fair one at Motherwell during his brief time there. He should bring some useful knowledge of the various leagues and hopefully fresh ideas and training methods. Shirtliff will be a big loss, but at least it is personal reasons rather than football ones that have meant he has left the club - good luck to him. Hopefully the end is nigh and we can move forward as a club by bringing them in as a manager and assistant, and get started on the 2016-17 season rather than dwelling on all the crap that has gone before it.
  23. Curtis Nelson centre half & captain of Plymouth Argyle has been released after turning down a contract offer, he has a moved lined up to a unnamed league 1 club. He has decent pace a commanding presence & not a bad goal scoring record for a centre half. I wonder if he is one that is lined up to come in next week. Maybe a Sheridan target prior to him leaving and we have continued with getting a deal over the line.
  24. Players are in on Monday to start training for the new season, no fitness, goalkeeping, or first team coach. Who the hell is going to train them? Best Corney get's his boots on, and collects the balls, bibs and cones on his way out.
