Don't think it's the group stages per se. Granted, it was a different time, but Anfield was regularly half empty for most of the ties when it was pure knockout, at least until it got to the semi final stage.
You have to think that Scholes is a better long-term appointment though, surely? Candy floss will make you bounce off the walls for a few hours, but carrots will keep you alive longer.
First time I've seen us under Scholes. Miles better than under Bunn - we had numerous chances and should have been out of sight before they equalised. Think they had one chance in the first half from open play and one free kick, and similar in the second. Unlucky not to have come away with three points, but plenty to be encouraged about.
Or if the ticket office allowed you to buy a season ticket but didn't mandate it being 'attached' to a seat. Save on the number of 'Reserved' stickers needed too - win, win!
For now. Can't see why PS would let him go back to the conf north if he was going to be in his plans for next season when he could be playing for us.
