  1. There's very little trouble inside grounds these days due to segregation and 95% of any trouble occurs outside the ground after the game so why do they let both sets of fans out at the same time? Keeping the away fans in for a few minutes at the end of a game was a regular occurrence a few years and it seemed to work rather well. Anybody know why it doesn't happen anymore?
  2. There's about 4500 seats across those 2 Actually it's well over 6000 so they will still look empty..... If it's as they said an attempt to create a better atmosphere they would have been better shutting the Chaddy so the Tranmere fans would be sandwiched between all the home fans.
  3. get the few fans we actually have all together instead of spreading 3000 across 9000 seats And the Chavs as you put it from the RRE will sit where exactly.....doh!!
  4. Just because you collect an insurance claim it doesn't mean you have to spend it all again on the same money losing venture!
  5. I take it you're just a halfwit then........You are welcome to the Chaddy, it's a crap stand with no atmosphere, I happen to like the RRE and I like to have a drink before the game and at half time, I also like to watch the game from a decent stand with in uninterupted view......nothing wrong with that is there!!!
  6. Well, you obviously don't have a RRE season ticket.....2 seasons ago we had 4 stands to chose from, now we have 3, and sometimes depending on away capacity we have only 2. Although not ideal,I can live with it for big games like Huddesfield for example but for Tranmere......I don't think so. If it's a cost cutting exersise like you say, how much money are we going to save. All the flamin lights will be on in both stands regardless so OK you'll save on a couple of gatemen and a few stewards but you'll lose out on bar sales and the bookies. The away end will still need policing so what have you saved at the end of the day!! If they're trying to save money why have the corner flag suite refurbished after the fire, I know it was on insurance but I've not seen it more than half full since it re-opened! If we are still at BP next season I really hope we change the home end because all this moving around is just plain silly!!
  7. They are seriously taking the p*** now, why not just shut the ground and play behind closed doors. Like has been said previously it's bad enough having to move for away fans in the first place but to have to move for the sake of creating a better atmosphere it's a bloody joke. Moves like this are only going to alienate even more fans...I really don't know what Hardy and Co. are thinking about sometimes!! We will be very lucky to have 3000 fans there on the night as I don't think the bindippers will bring more than 400! If they want to get a better atmosphere then charge £5 entrance and try and get a few more fans in, the cost has already been offset by the TV fee. Spare a thought generally, for the away fans too, why can't they give them the whole of the small RRE instead of the very end portion. I looked at the Southampton fans the other week and they were packed into the very end of the stand. We have a segregation area specially built into the stand....if it was considered safe enough in the nineties to fill both sides it should be safe enough now. I would be really pi***d off if I was herded into the outer edges of a stand after making a 500 mile round trip for a bloody night match!!! It really is no surprise that so many people are staying at home and watching live games on television!!!
  8. That's not an easy question to answer and there are many many contenders.......Christ...We've had some crap over the years haven't we!!!!
  9. 'It appears the teams that are doing well, or those with a bigger home crowd offer the most support' Christ....how did you manage to work that one out!!!! That will always be the case.....when we are doing well we take 3000 to Huddersfield last season under Penney we took 500!! You are obviously dead against regionalisation and entitled to your opinion but 650 from Macc is 50% of their hardcore and is better than 110 from Dagenham!!!!! Teams like Norwich, Southampton and Charlton will always bring a few but only if they are up near the top....our crowds have dropped off dramatically over the last couple of seasons and one of the reasons is that we are in a league of mainly southern based teams. Regionalisation would not cure all the problems but it would increase revenue and would reduce costs and that's all I was saying!!
  10. You asked me where would the increased attendances come from with a North South scenario, here are some figures from gates this season.... I've used the away followings at Bury and Stockport as examples as they are the closest clubs to ourselves but in the second division. Bury v P Vale 1945 Rotherham 697 Accrington 687 Bradford C 1198 Stockport 1141 Chesterfield 318 Crewe 370 Stockport v Rotherham 711 Macclesfield 664 Bury 1083 Chesterfield 992 Crewe 555 Port Vale 1362 Oldham v Hudds 3665 Rochdale 1891 Notts C 695 Tranmere ?? 750 estimate Carlisle 630 (£2 Offer) but they usually bring in excess of 500 sometimes a lot more I'd rather have all of those than the following; Swindon 281 Brentford 199 Dagenham 110 Yeovil 168 Bristol R 219 Bournemouth 285 Leyton O 144 Colchester 177 Exeter 152 We've only had three away followings that have exceeded 400...Plymouth, Southampton and Posh. Perhaps if Promo and Relegation is kind to us next season we'll have more northern teams in our division but I think these figures show that a North / South divide would definitely bring us more in gate receipts. As a result of any change teams around the midlands could suffer a little but the dividing line is not set in stone and I'm sure compromises could be made.
  11. Who's making stuff up....get off your high horse!!! Administration is becoming rife in the lower leagues and sooner or later clubs are going to fold. We can just sit here and do nothing and let it happen or try and do something about it. This is only a debate and regionalisation is just one idea that just might help to preserve lower league football, living within your means and salary caps are others. It is only my opinion which I'm allowed aren't I on a bloody message board!
  12. How am I scaremongering....unless we get more money filtering down from the premiership what do you suggest we should do?
  13. You would just have to move the north south border to accommodate the three or four teams. It isn't ideal but the bottom line is it will cut costs and increase revenue for the vast majority of teams. The thing is if we carry on as we are and do nowt some 1st and 2nd Division clubs will fold. It was reported that along with ourselves 8 more teams failed to pay staff at the correct time last month and it's only a matter of time before the :censored: hits the fan! It's not a perfect scenario but It would dramatically cut traveling costs and would increase attendances for the vast majority of clubs. I know fans want to stick with tradition and like the long weekend treks to far off grounds but the trouble is that their clubs might not even be in the league in the not too distant future!!
  14. We're a pretty small country so travel, in the grand scheme of things isn't much of a factor. It's not for supporters ie. 4 in a car etc.but it's a massive expense for a football club traveling to Plymouth, Southampton or Brighton. 20 odd players and staff on an overnight stay is a bloody massive expense!!!
  15. He hadn't played first team football at all the last time he came into the side but he didn't do too badly though did he? The lad is 25 not 35 and should be naturally fit...there's no excuses for piling on the pounds. He's nowhere near the player that we sold and apart from a fitness problem his concentration levels have also suffered. His contract at Preston will end in May and I reckon he would be more than happy to sign for us on much reduced terms. If he wants a big future in the game he will have to prove he's good enough all over again....we shall see!!
  16. I'm no Penney fan but under normal circumstances 13 games is not nearly enough time, perhaps they could see the negatives coming from the dressing room!! You have to say his record was pretty poor and he will surely struggle to get another job in the league...back to the conference perhaps. Just for the record...P13 W2 D2 L9 F12 A30 P8 8 points from a possible 39!!! Makes Joe Royle's glowing reference a little silly don't you think?
  17. Yes, he is on loan, but do you think he will be offered a permanent deal for next year? The way he has played since his return would suggest that the wages wouldn't be a problem, I don't think clubs are going to be queuing up to sign him and player clearly needs to get his career back on track. He hasn't played much first team football this season so with a good pre-season under his belt do you think he could he get back to where he once was?
  18. I think Trotman will have to improve drastically over the next few weeks if he is to earn a contract beyond the end of the season. I can't decide whether he has gone backwards as a player or he has a fitness issue...he's certainly got a Greganesque rear end and I think losing a few pounds would help the cause. If we are still solvent next season I think Dickov will make a move to sign M'voto on a permanent deal so I would think Todd will not have his contract renewed. With Tarkowski and Macdonald waiting in the wings Trotman could be surplus as well. Opinions anyone?
  19. Well we certainly have our fair share of Herberts on here!!!
  20. Yeh....it's crap, mine goes off every two minutes, it's a waste of time!!
  21. We have spent our budget and are totally skint, next season we don't know where or if we'll be playing league football so we get Kieran Lee to sign anoth?????!!!............I'm totally baffled! This football club does my flamin head in!!!
