  1. I really don't buy all this "We can't do without him" rubbish........yes, he's a good player but nobody is irreplaceable, I actually sometimes think the team is pretty one dimensional when he's on the field as everything seems to have to go through him. We've had this will he won't he for so long now I'm getting a little tired of it all....if we could have got 1/2 million for him at Christmas we should have sold him and we probably wouldn't be in this sorry mess!!!
  2. If this is true I'm absolutely dumbfounded........I really do give up with this club, it kooks like the club had put our immediate future on the line in the hope of a move to Failsworth. Blitz and Gazal have been gone for months and the move was nowhere near a certainty. We were just as bloody skint during the transfer window and should have sold him then when we had the opportunity of a good fee. This can't be true, surely......???
  3. I think that's rubbish, (Tounkara has been clueless for the last two or three months).......when a player runs out on to the field in that blue shirt there should be nothing else in his mind apart from trying to win the game. At the start of the season teams were giving us a little time on the ball and we were able to play the way we wanted now we are closed down much quicker by the opposition and as a result we are much less effective......basically we have been found out and we're not as good as we thought!!!
  4. To be fair Posh are a very good side going forward, even in the first half when it was fairly even they looked the more likely to score. Our forwards should watch the video to learn a thing or two about creating chances as their movement both on and off the ball was superb today. We really are light years away as a threat with Tonks, Reid and Feeney. Posh are poor at the back but when you attack and create so many chances at the other end....does it really matter? We have to hold our hands up, we didn't do ourselves justice but we were up against a much better team on the day....and that's 10 goals they've put past us in two games!!
  5. It's not just the Journey number....all the tracks played are the same week after week!!
  6. We should have enough points to stay up however if we had been in the bottom 6 I'd say we would have been certs to be relegated. This team is full of individuals who just don't play as a team. We were woefully exposed again today by a good, quick, and very mobile Posh front three. Only Bristol Rovers have conceded more goals than the Posh and yet we never looked like hitting the back of the net. It is now seven and a half hours since we scored a goal and we don't look like scoring anytime soon. Tounkara needs to be left out of the side as at the moment he is terrible and his body language is just apalling!!! Why we keep hitting long balls up to him is baffling, although he's 6'3" he can't jump to save his life!!! The honeymoon period is well and truly over for Dickov and it is obvious now that this team will not take us in to the playoffs.
  7. Looking on google maps you would do well to get all the leisure facilities and a football stadium on that plot....the football stadium alone would take up around 40/50% of the available land!!
  8. We don't need a bloody great warehouse in the middle of Hollinwood or any other town for that matter, it would be an eyesore. They should be built out of town on a purpose built industrial estate like at Heywood.
  9. Their aim is to build a leisure facility, including a hotel, bowling alley, and cinema. If we are not part of the plan it would surely leave our blueprint in tatters!!!
  10. We just don't win enough games to be in contention, 4 from our last 13 is not good enough.......i reckon we will need 75 for a play off spot which is 30 from 45...a tall order. Like you say we may have a totally new team next year and may have to start again.....yes, it's so bloody frustrating but at least we still have a club!!!!
  11. I support Oldham Athletic the club first and foremost....if we have to move 'Beyond the Boundary' a little, as long as it's still Oldham Athletic and we keep our identity It's OK by me. If we have to relocate, I would much rather move towards Tameside than next to Eastlands....Oh and the majority of Ashton has an Oldham postcode.
  12. You have to find another group though don't you, and they're not exactly bashing the doors down in a bid to invest!!! Simon's done a fantastic job since he's been here and although he'll be the first to admit that mistakes have been made the general level of support from OMBC has been nothing short of disgraceful. For someone who had no previous affinity towards the club you have to hold your hands up and say he's a top bloke .......99% of investors would have walked away by now!! Whatever happens in the future he's a Latics legend in my eyes!
  13. That's a good idea in theory but while all this building work is going on you have to have a good product on the pitch and that also costs money....money we don't have!! Blackpool built their ground on the strength of three promotions, and they have a pretty well off benefactor who has spent a substantial amount on the team over the last few years. As Simon Corney said the other day..." We will get through this season, I don't know how but we will. " That tells me if we don't get promotion or serious investment next season we are in serious s***. Our playing budget will be reduced further and as a result the product on the pitch will suffer. The recession is far from over, the ground and facilities are shocking and the fanbase is shrinking by the week. They have said at this time the re-development of BP is a non starter, the Failsworth plan I believe is doomed to failure and there isn't a suitable alternative site in the borough!!!! For me there are only 2 alternatives left..... 1. Try to get the Ferney Field farmer back on-side which the board said was the best site in the borough. There are issues here and there was a problem with the timescale of the project being to long although if the Failsworth plan were to still happen I reckon the planning process could go on for a fair few years yet! A prison was also rumoured to be built on the site, however if the residents had a choice between a prison and a football stadium there would be no contest. 2. Move out of the borough. I'm sure Tameside would welcome us with open arms and if a move there were to safeguard the future of the club it has to be considered.
  14. Yes, he reminds me of Stainrod in many ways but not Grovesy....he was a one off!!! He's the type of player to put bums on seats and we sure as hell need that right now. He's an entertainer and a bit of a joker just what this level of football is so sadly lacking. I fail to see how we can lose by giving him a decent contract as he would probably be snapped up for a fee in the not too distant future. If we can pay up £25k to terminate players contracts I'm sure we could find the money from somewhere....I reckon it would be a decent investment!!
  15. They probably wouldn't be there if you moved the away fans!
  16. Home supporters in large section of RRE and small section as the family stand. Together with the main stand it would give us a home capacity of over 7100. Away fans in the Chaddy which has capacity of about 3750 which would be more than enough to satisfy the Huddersfield and Sheff Wed followings. This would allow the home fans to watch the game seated in the newest stand without obstructions and be to be able to relax with a beer before the game. The idea of the Chaddy being the home end is long gone. I sit in the main stand now and looking towards the Chaddy End on match days is an embarassement. With the home fans all together in the main and RRE stands it would make the matchday atmosphere so much better. It would cut costs for the club by using less turnstyles, make segregation easier, thus cutting policing fees, and finally put an end to this ridiculous seat changing each time we expect a large away following which I am sure tends to reduce the number of potential season ticket sales. Don't do a poll just get it done for next season!!!!
  17. That was a 50/50 challenge and never in the world of man a flamin penalty however the player was going away from goal and there wasn't the need for any tackle at all especially in injury time. If black had used his right foot we would probably have got a free kick!! It was well in the area but a truly shocking decision from the officials and Black can count himself very very unlucky. The Tounkara miss was unbelieveable....a rush of blood and a wild swing when all that was needed was a simple tap in....if that had gone in the game is over and we would probably have gone on to score even more!! It's typical Latics really!
  18. Peterboro' L Brighton L Southampton L Rochdale D Walsall D Carlisle D We have picked up only 3 points from 18 in the above games where we have scored first. If we are going to sustain a challenge this has got to change. Why is following Oldham so bloody frustrating!!!
  19. Taylor's contracted for a couple more years whereas Commons contract was up in the summer and he would have left for nowt.....so it's not really a like for like comparison!
