  1. Remember it well. Often recall that one when there's f-all to watch on the pitch.
  2. That ain't funk. 60s Southern soul to go with Lt. Pigeon
  3. Didn't mean to say that I necessarily agree with SC. Obviously, if we could get out of this wretched division, extra revenue / crowds etc. who knows what could be achieved? Jesus, walking through the Lowry yesterday seeing smug Utd fans would love to re-live those glory days. After all, why bother being a footy fan, especially a lower league one, if you have no dreams of making the top flight?
  4. Yeah, listened to it. Was considering starting a thread on it. He basically said that the loan system was the lifeblood of lower league teams. Have to agree with him really. He also explicitly stated that Latics had "no chance" of making it to the Prem - again, he's probably right. As usual, Talksport were only really concerned with Prem clubs but I thought SC put a realistic spin on things.
  5. Remember a massive cheer when he got injured and had to be substituted. My vote goes to Barry Prenderville.
  6. Despised the way Colchester played when they turned up here. Come on Scunny
  7. There is a difference between genuine young fans running on in a moment true footballing emotion (Redfearn's penalty) and the One Direction fan club egging each other on to see who will be the next one to "break the rules" by encroaching onto the pitch. I do not believe that these kids are fans I'm afraid; they don't seem to take a lot of interest in the game in progress, more concerned with mooching around the stairs.
  8. Get the tram pal. I live in Bury and will be going. A mate of mine from Chaddy used it to get into Manchester the other week; pretty sure you can go straight from Mumps to Bury interchange. PS if you're still after a flag or something like I might be able to rustle up some material from the school I teach at. Maybe even get a kid to work on a design for us. I'm all for better atmosphere at the games; personally I sit in quieter side of Chaddy but enjoy the chat and banter. Plus I sing when there's something to get excited about (not that much this term).
  9. Are we sure it's definitely Johnson? Could it be a combination of Brown / Horton / Johnson? I hope so - we desperately need some quota of experience if we are to escape, and I think that is still a distinct possibility. Don't want to slate this new guy with no prior knowledge of him but it strikes me as very odd if he is put in on his own, however short the deal is. :censored:, didn't mean this to all be emboldened, italicised and underlined but can't undo it now. Just highlights how absurd life can be.....
  10. I will be there, trying to remain positive, and shall be for the remaining home games and Shakers away. We still have an excellent chance of staying up - IF - we do what we have done all season and take points off teams in the bottom half of the division.
  11. Praying an appointment is made before today's kick off. However cool SC is feeling, I am not. Really don't think we would recover if relegated.
  12. After a many heroic performances and what would've been goal of the season if he'd pulled the trigger a bit earlier, I have a chant for Big Jean. To the tune of "Um-Bongo Um-Bongo they drink it in the Congo": "M-Voto, M-Voto, Attackers he say no to, And when he's playing really well he even scores a goal too."
  13. How about the old "Andy Ho-olt. Whay! Andy Holt" updated for Matty Smith? Think his new cult status deserves a fresh chant. Plus, it's about time Gary Glitter was allowed back in the stands...
  14. Trying to get a "Big Fat Joe's Going To Europe!" chant going, then the ridiculous hyper-extension of Hughes' right leg and Jonny Halworth's flailing fingertips. Oh yeah, Stitch should have replaced Big Daz.
  15. Best Sharp memory was him heading the winner against Villa 91/2 I think, following a cross from Neil McDonald. Great leap and finish. Remember him being substituted at Tranmere away cup replay too - the start of his "bad back" era. Really disappointed when he became manager, wanted Stitch instead. Maybe the end result would have been no different, but would have at least felt that the man at the helm actually cared about the club. I blame Royle for that appointment - think the Everton connection came through there.
  16. Just heard from my local bookie that Dickov is amongst front runners for PNE vacancy, along with Grayson. While I am quite shocked by this, considering his run of form with us combined with their similarly terrible output, I would be quite happy for him to go there. Don't get me wrong, don't dislike him particularly, but should they hire him I think there's a fairly good chance they could be relegation candidates.
  17. "Olney advances on the suspect-looking James, lifts it over him ... and Oldham take a 3-1 lead!! Well, improbably, it seems that Oldham's slim chances of top flight survival will stay alive at least until the final day of the season against Southampton." Oh no, that was 20 years ago. The slim chance is still there though.....
