  1. Yes he blew on Menig but RW was backed too with the likes of Pringle, McEleney. That squad was more than capable of staying up. RW was unable to achieve what he was paid to do. New season, new manager...stuff the negativity and circus being played out in media
  2. Isn't this simply a case of AL waking up thinking "fuck it, I'm getting my own man in if I'm about to spend even more money" AL pumped in a lot of money to buy the club, blew the budget out the water to secure Doyle, Byrne, Bryan AND blew even more money on RWs other signings. AL is obviously more gutted than we are. If he needs to break a few eggs to secure promotion and he's putting his money in then goodbye RW...and any of the other players who aren't happy with the changes afoot.
  3. And you're basing your mistrust on the tweets of Gerrard? One of my colleagues moaned because they took Mondeos off our car policy. Moaned and moaned for weeks suggesting it'll be Kia or Nissan. Two weeks later we signed a deal for BMW and Audi. Change + uncertainty = mistrust & negativity. Proven fact.
  4. That was my view when I spotted his tweet. Gunning for an exit too? Will he be sadly missed? Obviously pally with Wellens
  5. We might go for Scholes this time but would he be interested now we're L2? Might as well take on Salford when that was vacant. My feeling it'll be Ferguson, Rosler or Hasslebaink. If Ferguson then he walked from Doncaster perhaps due to budgets - and I would expect them to have a larger budget than ours.
  6. He's prolonged the future of our club....ok timescale unknown but a little more secure than before he arrived. Sometimes you just have to trust people or at least give them the chance.
  7. 3 scenarios spring to mind. I know nothing so all three are guesses - 1. RW back off holiday, asked about Keenan's article and sacked for his collaboration in said article 2. RW back off holiday, told what budget is and/or some of that budget will be used to fund AL signings and RW told to accept it 3. RW back off holiday, AL not happy with relegation and looking at a managerial plan B and today was earliest meetings, paperwork and announcement could be made Whichever way, it's now known AL has pumped millions in already and publicly committed to club long term with expressed aim to return to L1 then Championship ASAP investing further into club. Obviously RW, upon reflection, isn't the person to achieve this and AL now has his own person in mind. In AL I trust
  8. So it's not Jose Baxter we've signed via playershare? Re-signed existing or another new signing?
  9. Jonn Terry?! >£30k per week or more abroad for one season or <£4K at OAFC where he has absolutely no affinity apart from his brother coaching here. This rates up there alongside Blitz plan to get us in the Prem within 10 years
  10. He might be an excellent photobomber but he's been snapped with a lot of high profile people in the football community. I'm hoping AL has contacts with some financial muscle to join the adventure in coming months/seasons.
  11. If this is our status quo now in terms of playing budget then would you prefer to be. Scenario 1 - L2 side, always top 12/top 6 and winning more than losing Scenario 2 - L1 bottom 12/relegation candidates and losing more then winning but guaranteed survival each season Obviously the aim is to get promotion this season and then promotion to Championship but what if our budget dictated that we'd never achieve Championship football... would you take L2 and winning more or L1 and losing more?
  12. That Sparta blue v-neck was a great shirt. Eyresy signed my daughter's shirt and my bestman got the whole team to sign one for my wedding.
  13. Disagree I'm afraid. This is the guarantee the Trust should be seeking. OK he passed the EFL fit and proper test but assurances around the short, medium and long term future of our club should be sought
  14. Apologies if I've interpreted your message wrongly and - I may be stating the bleeding obvious - but are you implying Corney was receiving the funds (and more with cup runs, STs etc) but failed to invest it into the club? Appreciate some of that gap went into paying legacy debts but suggestions of skimming?! That chapter is now closed so what assurances can the Trust give us fans that AL has the financial clout and acumen to - 1. Prevent this happening again i.e. paying all legacy and future creditors to avoid transfer embargoes 2. Funds to strengthen our squad at L2 level to maximise our chances of promotion 3. Funds for us to succeed above L1 should we gain promotion from L2 At moment I'm reading the odd scaremongering that AL doesn't have the proverbial pisspot then another post that we're signing Bryan and Baxter. Now I'm not expecting the Trust to disclose future transfers but some assurances on AL's wealth and plans - no flannel but some facts please
  15. Interesting that Shrewsbury confirm that L1 clubs receive £1.7m per annum from EFL. 23 players equates to £74,000 per annum or £1,400 per week. I know there's non-playing staff to pay plus other bills but that amount shocked me as I thought it was significantly less than that. However, in Championship it's £7m per annum....and Corney said we'd be running at a loss should we gain promotion from L1(!)
  16. Is that JB's dad behind "JB" and MM behind the two of them?! If so and there's a chance of him coming back then let's get the deal sorted and advertised. He's had his problems but having JB back will create a lot of excitement and hopefully get the STs sold.
  17. When's Wellens back at work? Jeez I could so with a transfer or two plus an interview with AL to fire me up over the summer. Hopefully AL continues his stamp on the club with a new shirt manufacturer and sponsor. Going to be a loooong ten weeks.
  18. Definitely 23 in 2000 as player manager. Shez was 8. Stitch wore 8 in our Prem season
  19. That pic has Wigan Athletic flag in background though
  20. I don't care what the attendance is as long as I've got a club to watch
  21. Obviously Lemsagam isn't too familiar with lower league dosmetic English football. He's an agent who's knowledge is more French, North African and other European leagues. He's watched 20 L1 games at a guess. This is where he'll rely on his board and employees who hopefully have that knowledge and experience. I'd be interested to know more about what's gone on behind the scenes. Being the result of our capitulation is a bit strong though - yesterday and this season is solely down to players who have the ability not showing the application or selection/tactics not playing to their strengths. Of Lemsagam's buys, three were in the team yesterday. Nepomuceno has been hit and miss, Moimbe too with Placide getting rave reviews earlier in the season but his erratic behaviour cost us yesterday. He's also enabled us to sign Byrne, extend Doyle and Bryan loans plus fund players that Wellens needed. He also funded an offer to sign Devante Cole who went to Wigan. I can't help but laugh at all these doom and gloom suggestions. The guy has allegedly paid £3 million for our club - no property, just the club. If he can afford to blow that by himself playing football manager then he must have some cash. Would he risk that scale of investment if he only has very limited wealth - of course he wouldn't. The negativity coming from the club, I suspect, is down to change. Some people hate change and moan, others embrace. New broom and all that. Some of the events happen day in, day out at other clubs. Until I see a team 100% with French and African players (as an example as I have no issue with this personally) and then only being tanked 3-0 each game then I'll start to worry. At moment I'm seeing a team mostly of Wellens signings, club youth and players linked to Lemsagam not performing. Lets just see where we are in August and then come the January window eh? Some comments on here and social media since yesterday's game is ludicrous. Think about where we've been in recent years where we've worried about the future existence of our club. Playing for at least one season in L2 is nothing.
  22. Do players at our level have relegation clauses? If so then it could be out our hands. Out of starting 11 yesterday, I predict the following come first game of season; Placide - gone Hunt - gone Edmundson - here Hamer - gone Moimbe - gone Gardner - here Pringle - gone Nepomuceno - here Byrne - gone Doyle - gone Nazon - gone 3/11
  23. Not to the level you're suggesting. Look at the teams in L2 - a fairly large number were teams we played in L1 a few seasons back or even last season. Has their home gate or away following dwindled? Lets agree to disagree but review this in 12 months. Our average gate over the season will be near to 3000 if not over it.
  24. Depends on money available. Personally I'd get the pitch sorted once and for all. As we're effectively tenants, isn't that now Blitz's responsibility? From there we've always succeeded with attacking, cavalier play with a manager who's attack-minded. If money was there - Cowley brothers or someone who's succeeding at L2 level and knows that league and leagues below. Alternatively I'd go with Scholes with an experienced assistant - he'd be an inspiration coaching, won't be asking a fortune and could get us some quality kids from Championship and Prem plus tap into his mates at Salford who know the non-league market.
  25. Last season was unique. Lemsagam's first season watching then as owner. His prerogative if he wishes to bring in players from a market he knows. This last half-season was gaining experience of whether tgat type of player would sink or swim in our league. He now knows what is needed with some steel. Will he continue to sign the same and struggle? Of course he won't - he wants his club to succeed and from first impressions , he'll be loving the chance of a promotion run in a league below (admittedly not guaranteed)
