  1. Sounds like we stopped playing when we changed the players on 49th minute. But all power to the Chester team who wants to push forward
  2. And a few scoops in the Houghton Arms post match Can't see current Premier league players doing that?
  3. Man of the people, from 13th Oldham Boys Brigade(Ashton/Chamber Road) amd Hulme Grammar 1st team when only 15, to Premier League, not bad going on such a diet
  4. Yes remember hattrick vleicester in FA cup , I was stood in the main stand paddock and the away fans decided to do some landscape gardening of the RRE, and lumps of the old concrete teracing were dispatched towards the home supporters. Loved Youngie though, and on his day (sadly not every match) he looked a class forward.
  5. Interested to see Sam Surridge in the Notts Forest squad , as I picked my Fantasy PL team. Thought he was a very promising striker with us took some lovely goals and was confident in taking on opponents.
  6. Many happy memories of his heading ability in that season, led the line well and linked up well with George McVitie
  7. Recall Lyden scoring a good goal from distance the season he was on loan
  8. Some one at The Club recently arranged for all the squad to sign a 90th Birthday card for my Dad, and delivered on time and although a small gesture by each of them was wonderfully appreciated by my Dad. He started my interest in Latics, some 50 odd years ago, when we were second bottom of 4th Division, and he reminded me we were seeking reelection not for the first time ... how things change !
  9. Reminds me of my favourite footy movie Bendix like Beckham
  10. I was on the Rochdale road end, on the perimeter boards( 10p cheaper than the Chaddy I think) , and seeing Leighton James up close was a treat for a young lad, if you didn't mind being in with a mix of home and away fans. They probably played in their away strip of white shirts, sad as their home shirts were the same as my then current schoolboy football shirts, Derker juniors .
  11. Yes, thought he was very good for us, confident and quick.
  12. We are now bottom of the football league Only way is up, sometime soon please.
  13. Just need a couple of loanees up front to make a team .
  14. My second away game. Crow barred into neighbours works van along with 4 other kids in the back and adults in the front. Spent most of the game hanging from the lower part of floodllight pylon. Great atmosphere when we equalised.
  15. I too sat on the boards behind the Chaddy goal in that year. Always enjoyed clapping the opposition keeper and getting an acknowledgememt. Remember throwing the ball back to Jim Coombes and him saying 'thanks cock'. Had my scarf nicked after the Sunderland game outside the Ford Stand, second of mine to go that way as I had my silk/Wool 3rd Div champions one nicked in the Chaddy when I was holding on to the boards above that nobbly concrete perimeter wall. Remember the cracking atmosphere of the night games when driving over from Derker you could see the floodlights inthe night sky and then walking down sheepfoot lane with a throng of excited voices discussing what Grovesy could do. Only time I felt like that last season was the first Scholes game. Just glad me, my Dad and my mates were there to enjoy those days.
