Team for MK
tringerlatic42 replied to the_mighty_bosh's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
I think that is good as it gets- I hope that DP is not the 1st name on the team sheet as the current and previous managers have implied- just do not know what has happened to him.? Kean did really well at Port Vale so hope he can have another recovery over the next few. Hopefully Murphy on for a time with Wilkinson can make an impact over a full game just hope we use his abilities sensibly not launch it up him. -
Luke Woodland in from Bolton
tringerlatic42 replied to NewBlue's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
Yes dead right - the kid seems to have some pedigree having been an England Youth player- let's hope come the hour, come the boy. I wish him all the luck and hope the crowd take to him for a good debut. I am in a time zone 10 hrs ahead of UK for the game and will have to find out how we did the morning after so fingers crossed the Oldham we love turns out and puts in a showing. -
Are My Worries Unfounded?
tringerlatic42 replied to spanishblue's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
Well lets us hope the players do not have this mentality and automatically assume they will lose all the games that Spanish Blue predicts. The whole point is that football at the best of times has unpredictability about it- otherwise winning the pools would have been a formaility back in the day. Points are always won and lost in the most unexpected places just look at L 1 results every week to see. I also think lets get off this Johnson thing - it is past and will only be a distraction if the players and fans are obsessed with this lets get one over on LJ mentality- it is just another game and a stern test against a team on a good run- like Port Vale were! -
Since December we have been on this roller coaster of some dreadful losses and the less frequent great victories Then depending on which it is -the same old story- win= Bags of character, unity, would walk through walls for each other Lose= No character, no effort/passion, leadership etc, useless players There must be more to it- what are your views please? I saw us at Bristol the 1st loss after the run and Sheff Utd and felt we were virtually unbeatable, but that is now a distant memory- so what has happened in the longer term?- as all the cures have been applied - Miissing Kelly, Missing Jones, Need Wilkinson need a New Keeper, Get rid of Danile Johnson. The other Johnsons tactics and tinkering, Holden's naivety- but whatever is changed the pattern seems to continue? I am sure lots of theories have come in other posts and hope I am not starting a pointless post Incidentally I am in Papua New guinea and not back til the morning of the MK game and before going wondered what the 3 games I would miss starting with Yeovil would yield- I was thinking 4 or 5 would be a fair return- Still possible but would need 2 consecutive good performances- which is where i came in

New Manager thread.
tringerlatic42 replied to Lee Sinnott's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
I have been away a bit lately and am currently in Papua New guinea so have not read all the 700 or so posts but with the level of Dowie\ Kuqi speculation paste what SC wrote at the time of the LJ appointment and wonder what would be different today with the 2 main supsects? I know nothing stays the same forever but this leads me to think the appointment will be another surprise. SC: We spoke to Dowie, but simply couldn’t get near what he wanted. We considered a part-time option but it is clear that would have been unworkable. After that it was a pretty uninspiring list of applicants compromising of such ‘personalities’ as Stan Ternant, John Gregory, Brian Little etc.. Shefki Kuqi was interviewed but didn’t impress enough, however he congratulated the club on their new appointment today. Phil Brown was considered, but his public persona is also his private one and was definitely a no go. -
Yes agree wholeheartedly he was immense last night and i just never felt we were going to concede with his all round positioning, encouraging and organising. A true leader by example. A hero for me

New Manager thread.
tringerlatic42 replied to Lee Sinnott's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
I have missed most of this thread- but Phil Brown was amusingly mentioned by Corney at the time of LJ's appointment as being exactly the prat that you would have imagined so hopefully we are spared that possibity! -
Last one from me on this game But note Swindon losing home to Crawley and Colchester going 3 up to Bristol City shows that to me is not about performing about highly placed or lower table teams- it is about tactics and sticking to basics. Lose the game plan, or not have one and you will lose to anyone! Onwards and upwards hopefully

Yes I think that is a fair assessment.I would like to see Mellis in for Philliy who had little or no impact. Also bring back Brown at right back he always has fight and determination. I agree about Murphy I think with something to work with he can do a good job for us,certainly looks like he has a football brain. I was quite encouraged by our second half showing and if the free shot from 8 yards had gone in I think there would be a different outcome. On the plus side I managed to get a great pint of Moorhens Black Cat at Euston. I also don't like the booing at the end we are all disappointed but we have to move on and the players have to have encouragement

Fee Agreed For Dagenham's Rhys Murphy
tringerlatic42 replied to NewBlue's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
I saw the interview on LP and thought he came across really well, seemed very likeable and intelligent and hopefully if he can stay clear of injuries and get good service he could be an outstanding addition and a crowd favourite. I wish him every success and will be watching his progress with great interest -
Gor Blimey! I just seen the bleedin fotos of the Technical and it looks bleedin brill. I am absolutely definitely coming! opefully wiv me son. btw I hope to see Mellis playing a full game. On a note of caution our record against the lower teams is BAD.
