  1. Fantastic Result- joy to see two strikers scoring- Delighted to see Erwin get a great strike and hope it does wonders for his confidence. Banks for me was tremendous and glad Shez acknowledged his contribution. It is still going to be tough ride yet but the spirit of the side is there for all to see.. Come on Oldham!

  5. I dont think we should be having a Poll on this- It is now a done deal- rightly or wrongly and although I have my reservations about going back I hope that JS makes a success of it - even it means a spell in the lower league. But the fans now need to unite behind the team and therefore the manager and showing that a number of people disagree is not helpful- all that can be seen in differing views without the need to quantify it in a poll.
  6. My observation on Saturday was that we are making work very hard for ourselves by automatically lumping it up from the GK where almost 90% of the time we immediately gift the ball back to the other side and then spend a cumulative massive amount of time chasing the ball. Thus we are very rarely in a position to get the best out of our attacking options. We are not Barcelona and never will be but surely we can learn some basic lessons from there- they conserve energy by retaining the ball whenever possible and then hounding only when the oposition has the ball.
  7. Greatly saddened by the news. I actually mentioned him the other night at Port Vale as one of the best players I had ever seen at Latics, totaly unaware he was even ill. Thoughts are with his family RIP
  8. I am definitely on for this along with Son Mark- not sure about train times yet - but plans include the Old Windmill and the Spoons close to the windmil Old Windmill, Spon Street, City Centre. “A 15th century building divided into a number of rooms and areas - one was the brewhouse, another has a stove set in a large old fireplace with an adjacent entrance into a priest hole.”
  9. Iam IN Why? Staying Economics- everyone in business saying leave would be a disaster- any evidence YES- £30 bn wiped off share values on a day when leave got ahead and a drop in the pound- then a complete surge back when remain inched back Immigration- Yes a good thing for UK helps to fund health service and other public services Workers’ Rights- Far better protected in EU – give control to the right wing and it will be a massive step back Security- Much stronger in a team Peace- We have a long period of peace since the union and it was one of the original reasons for creating the common market Jo Cox- So much passion for fairness and justice and paid such a price Leaving They have some reasonable points but have chosen instead to promote a campaign of lies- still quoting ridiculous scare stuff – amount of contribution, scare stories about 77m Turks invading etc. Economics- Not a clue apart from – we are Britain- Oh and James Dyson says we should leave- so he knows better than better than the thousands of other businessmen and economists? Immigration- No solutions offered- anyone who has looked at the Australian system would soon see it would be unworkable here. Supporters- Putin- one of the evilest leaders in the world- supporting for our good? Donald Trump- A man of judgement? Daily (Hate) Mail Farage I could never vote along side of odious charcters like the above 24 hrs mentioned Boris v Corbyn- a true horror story in the making - please God No!
  10. Is it really? As i dont spend all day reading every post i find it easier to find stories under their true headings. Rathr like the e-mail threads where every one just uses the original title. I once recall an e-mail Re: Re:Re: Re:Re: Re:Re: Re:Re: Re:Re: Re:Re: Re:Re: Re:Re: Re: Original Subject to about 20 Re's in total LOL
  11. I was surprised to see that some site has already made him hot favourite to take over a role which is not available(yet) and has already mapped out that Holloway will now join Glasgow Rangers as there will be no Shez at Oldham to persuade him back. I realise it is the media job to maintain interest with as much speculation as they can Two messages to our Messiah- Oldham loves you more than you will know ! and the poisened challice of the Leeds job will be on offer a couple of times a year for the next few years at least- Please carry oin your unfinished business with the Latics!
  12. I agree that Croft is potentially better and showed well in a few games at the end of the season. What a difference a year makes player of the year and now shown the gate!
  13. I hope that Shez still sees unfinished business at OAFC and wont be tempted off too easily . I am surpised at this Bolton link as he only played 33 times there compared to 144 for us as well as managing here. If it has been mentioned before my biggest concern would be Leeds who are likely to have another vacancy around late October unless they are doing well. In Shez we trust!
  14. One thing that is for sure is that the only thing we can expect is the unexpected- it is always a League when any team can beat anybody on a given day, this is even more so than ever in the mad end of season scramble. So although we may get the 7 points originally predicted in this post I am sure they will not come in form book fashion and similarly for the other teams. These are all cup finals for all the teams involved. Every year I have tried doing a similar logical look ahead and am always left scratching my head
  15. Good post from Nonaenever- It was the 5th time I have been to BP this season and the others were 3 defeats and a draw v Wigan- and the feeling of sheer joy was fantastic to see and be part of. And what a stirring performance after being 2nd best all 1st half. I thought the whole team put in a great effort but especially Coleman, Main, Palmer, Kelly, Wilson, Dummigan all possible contenders for MOM. Walsall were a top draw side and that makes the performance all the better And thoroughly desrerved to see such a climb up the table. No doubt there will be some surprise results along the way but we are a massive step forward/ Come on you Blues
  16. Thank you that was 25 minutes of joy and magic from a true all time great
  17. Definitely a very well desreved and encouraging point. Generally we held the ball well and were first to so many 2nd balls and stopped Burton building any momentum. Jones started appallingly but to his credit improved massively, I also thought Winchester was much more involved than of late. I thought everyone put in a great shift and James Wilson was very assured again back in central defence. My only negative observation is that Kelly cannot make any good forward passes, but with Palmer back, what Kelly does well will be a great benefit tyo the team. Really hope we can follow this up with a win and a performance agaist Chesterfield. Come in you Blues
  18. Good man I agree he always talks great sense always positive and i always look forward to listening to his views- unlike the previous few whp just seemed to say the well rehearsed lines every time. Each of his signings have been questioned but in every case they have been proven great vision. So like you i believe and trust 100% in him
  19. Hi Andy I have just booked my train and entrance tickets- I will be travelling via Milton Keynes and get in around 15 mins before you. I will wait at DSheffiled for you (and others?)
  20. A great piece of journalism as always from Ernieflag- I was also there and think the report has covered everything beautifully- leading on from there it would be interesting I think to see Main and Holloway on together. On and ever hopeful to the Gills game
  21. Agreed the few bright spots earlier have sparked momentary optimism which was crushed in the follow up games never less so than 2 wins in a row in Nov followed up with 8/10 defeats. I think there may be greater cause for optimism for several reasons. Shez seems to have really galvanised the whole club, as frequently mentioned of late. While some have decried the delays in bringing in new faces, the ones he has bought in have made a great impact and there is the promise of more to come! The other thing about Shez is that he seems to really back his players and not absolve himself by blaming individuals like someone we knew. I saw the Bury game and think that was a marked improvement on any others I have seen so think the signs of progress are there to see. BUT nothing taken for granted and every game is winnable and massive Come on Oldham!
  22. Could be a good move- he would have something to prove if he plays tonight
  23. Cheers have a good evening and look forward to hearing your views and if you feel like a revisit Friday we can have a pint together
