  1. Or perhaps the people passing the ball knew where Rush would go? Massive difference
  2. Passes into opposition area? I thought a pass was kicking the ball to a team mate not an area of the field. Otherwise every kick of the ball can be described as a good pass if only a team mate was there?
  3. To be fair to Rasulo Barnsley did a job on him on Saturday. As soon as possession was turned they went man to man on him....quite a compliment for a 19 year old
  4. Ditto the goal against Burton. Good player but at the moment better going forward
  5. Why not take August 30th last year. We were bottom 4...... Taking that date would have no more validity than the 30th November but would indicate we are are improving significantly ...we aren't nor are we deteriorating significantly from 30th November last year. We are bumping along pretty much where we have been for at least 5 years and we get good months and bad months but very similar 12 months!
  6. There is a fundamental mistake here? We are picking a specific point in time and believing that represented accurately the clubs and teams ability over a period. Is the reality not that we had a glorious Sept and Oct in 2014 and that it is those 2 months that are out of step. We rallied to finish 15th the season before, we did not win in August and the rochdale win was our first and only win in a November. We know the story following the Rochdale .... .to use a point in time 12 months ago as a benchmark for where the team should be seems to me misleading and in denial of the real state of the club
  7. I agree. Despite all that is happening we have a competence and organisation about us that will prevent us getting relegated. Relegation teams don't go 9 games away without losing....BUT I see no sign or likelihood any time soon of the cycle of us finishing in the tihird quartile of the division and it is that which is so debilitating to our enthusiasm for the club
  8. I don't remember us having the ball against Boro let alone hold it up but still.....
  9. There seems to a lot of eggs going into the Cassidy basket? He has played about 103 minutes ever for Latics but we seem to be thinking he is a returning Messiah. He might be a great player for us...let's hope so but at this stage thinking he is the answer to our issues might turn out to be premature?
  10. BP ....why is Yeates getting off lightly with giving away the decisive free kick which became necessary because of his lack of pace and awareness of the run being made in his area of responsibility? I am sure you will agree that too often on this board we concentrate on play in the opposing half when in actual fact we lose matches in our own half..Yeates and coleman badly at fault for second and a Dieng should never have been turned in the corner for the first . Both goals very preventable
  11. Of course not but if the man none of us would want back has got a record better than the man we have got......some questions come begging?
  12. Dunn 2 points from 5 home games Kelly 4 points from 4 home games Just saying!
  13. Why are we so poor at home? Is it not just possible that our poor home form is actually an accurate representation of our ability?
  14. Lots of comment here about Dunn Higdon Dieng Rusalo et al but surely the worst performance from anybody in a Latics shirt today was the goalkeeper. Ran under and missed 3 crosses in first half, dropped a rolling ball at the feet of an attacker in first half, consistently kicked possession away and finally literally threw the game away with an horrendous error for second goal?
  15. On thing I noticed on Tuesday night was despite how well the pitch took the copious rain, there was inevitably significant wear and tear caused to the pitch. We are well into November, the grass will hardly be growing......I think we will now start to see significant bobble on the ball I hope this does not mean an end to fast accurate free flowing passing which has thus far typified our home performances? Seriously I think we are increasing going to have a poor playing surface now
  16. Rasulo definitely game changer. He and phillskirk quickly on the same length. The next challenge for him will be how he adapts to games when teams set out to legislate for him, as they surely will now
  17. If I had known how wet I was going to get walking from the car to ground there would have been 1704
  18. Is it just me who sees an irony in a manager making negative comments about fans for making negative comments
  19. we Will be in premier league in less than 7 years then as he fancies himself to do it quicker than Joe Royle. I look forward to it
  20. I seem to remember the administrators publishing figures re number of posts after a win versus after a loss. I can't find it! Can anybody dig them out for me Many thanks
  21. Undoubtedly something in what you say Harry and I would add another dimension to the limitations of this early identification and selection system. I have significant example evidence that parents of academically able lads and the lads themselves are reluctant to give up at age16 the university to profession route in favour of becoming a full time football scholar. They rightly assess that there is far far more chance of becoming a doctor or dentist than a footballer . The outcome from this is that many / most footballers ( not all by any means) tend to come from a certain and similar demographic and football in England restricts it's catchment field. It also means there are very good footballers out there aged 18 to 25. The same does not apply in many European countries which often means that in post match interviews the Croatian or German centre half can present a more coherent assessment in English than can the English players who follow their inability to string more than 3 passes together with a similar inability with words. A bit harsh I know but...
  22. 1-0 to you sir......at least you prove my point that satire is alive and well
