  1. I love our ability to turn a raid on the club, into a whimsical, light hearted, ‘who cares what’s going on, here comes another pun . . . ‘ Over and over again.
  2. Whilst it’s true we’ve had at least one in double figures for the majority of those seasons; sometimes it’s been a midfielder, and rarely has it been a recognised front two. (Apart from Ritchie and Palmer who did it for three seasons) Since them it’s been barren to say the least. These two could be both in double figures by the middle of November if not before. Happy days.
  3. Excellently put. I think his PR has been has truly awful at times. The decision making and way the club has been run, (or left to others to run) has been so bad it’s comical. On the other hand, IMO Corney always tried to back managers. We constantly run squads of 25 plus- even when we were really in the shit. IF (and this is key) the takeover is on a sound footing, and we can move forward then tbf to him he’s done what he set out to do. Keep us going until a good buyer has been found. In the end, we could of done worse and he could of run things better. I’ll call it a draw.
  4. Why on earth would they lock it? Don’t involve yourself in the thread if the discussion isn’t for you.
  5. If recent developments are true, and Abdullah buys Corney out completly, it will end a long association with the club. So how will Corney’s time be remembered?
  6. Yeah, spot on. It’s great watching Doyle, with that air of envitability that he’s going to score. Davies has genuinely surprised me, i knew he’d hold it up but I didn’t think he would be as clinical as he has been. He’s been superb.
  7. IMO your only as good as your strikers. For so many seasons we’ve either had nobody, or one half decent to decent striker. I can’t remember the last time we had two up top who are so dangerous/prolific I’ve watched so many sides over the years who’ve come to BP with a similar strike partnership, an just looked on in envy. If we can keep Doyle in January. I think we’ll do more than ok this year.
  8. Agreed. Although I’m gutted, that is a massive step forward and all we’ve been asking for- some entertainment.
  9. Even though it’s a point away from home, and we’re still unbeaten. It’s hard to be anything other than really gutted. I knew I shouldn’t of started looking at the table.
  10. What if I give to other charities, and I used a thread about an upcoming game to ask what people thought the score might be in that very same game. Is that ok? Or do all predictions and chariatable donations go through this thread? Thanks.
  11. Predictions? In light of recent performances, and a renewed sense of optimism I’ll go for, 2-1 latics. Doyle with a brace. ?
  12. He certainly bucks the trend of the strikers graveyard. .
  13. I’m really starting to think we could do something this year. What we’re doing is very impressive, the performances are very consistent. Which if it carries on the league position will take care of itself. Been on Bradfords forum and there very complimentary, (which is unusual as fans are generally one eyed.) Saying we’re in a false position, really decent side. McCall saying positive things as well. I can’t remember the last time I fancied us no matter who we were playing. Even if we finish top 10, how good is it to genuinely think we’ve got at least a chance this year!? Happy days. * * (I await the enivatable off the field self inflicted drama)
  14. Fair enough. I’m saying this with zero knowledge of his wage. If he’s cheap, then I can see the reasoning. Squad player/Good voice. I was assuming as a senior player he would be on a fairly decent whack. Which when you bear in mind how many times he went missing last year, and his age could of been better spent elsewhere.
  15. One bad call from Shez over the summer was giving Green another year. I would of said goodbye.
  16. If we’re doing well. Don’t underestimate Byrne’s desire to stay with us till at least the end of the season. If the takeover goes through, we might even be in a position to make Wigan an offer ourselves.
  17. I wish every game was like that today. Good football, great atmosphere, and that was before the winner! Its been long time since I’ve watched someone like Byrne in our side. Absolutely ran the show. All the lads put a shift in. The only slight issue for me Gervaro- gets in in some great positions, but his final ball today was poor. Hopefully he’ll improve. Wellens must be nailed on for the job, it’s not just the results, but even at 0-0 I really enjoyed the game. We move the ball quickly, and we play at a high tempo. It’s good to watch. Eieieio!!! ?
  18. Why? 1. He takes it, gets backed and we do well. 2. He takes it, doesn’t get ‘promised funds’ but still does well. 3. The takeover doesn’t go through and/or he’s shit an gets sacked. He’s the same as any other name manager on the maybe promise of investment.
  19. Hope- Top ten. I don't think it's beyond the imagination to hope for a top ten finish. I think defensively we'll be very sound. Ripley would cement that, but I still think we'll be fine with or without him. A back four of hunt, Clarke, gerrard, mclaughlin is very good on our budget IMO. Up front Davies will score his share, and I think him and Holloway will be a good foil for each other. Plus we've osei, and ruffus to add competition. The biggest hope though is shez himself. If he can get a few to play above their level for long periods, then we might have a sniff of doing something. Expeactation. 12-16th. While up front and and at the back looks pretty solid. Midfield is still a concern for me. I know shez said he's still looking to add another midfielder, and I hope Gardner turns out to be a good signing. Even so I don't think any of green/fane/banks sets the world alight. All capable on their day, but it's not a midfield that particularly inspires. I think we'll score a few more, (im praying we do) but I don't see us having the guile or quality of spine to the side to really challenge. I would take any improvement on last year though, Which should be very achievable. Thoughts?
