  1. Sorry, I don’t understand that view. They have a empty unit. One that has been empty since it was built, and didn’t look like being used in the near future. The trust has put a lot of time and effort into creating something to fill the empty unit, and it could make the OEC money that it doesn’t seem capable of generating itself. Should it take off, I would fully expect the OEC to take it’s share. However for the Trust to show this sort intitiave, and considering it could be a win win. It feels like blatant profiteering, on the back of people’s hard work and dedication. I think its a real shame, and a missed opportunity to get some real positivity between fans and club again. Hope it goes well today.
  2. It might of been nice of the ‘OEC’ to donate all the funds from the initial opening of the bar to the trust. As a goodwill gesture, and a thank you for their hard work. But alas they must really need the relative drop in the ocean. Well done to those of you involved in setting this up. Your a credit to the club.
  3. In what sense? That we would never be successful again? Or something else? I felt something similar at the time. But on refelection it was what he created ‘we’re in it together’ ‘one club one dream’ rather than the football IMO. Until near the end he was very good at masking the shit behind the scenes and making us feel we were going places. When we in reality nothing had changed. Very good at leading and managing the club as a whole for a time, but it did mask the football IMO.
  4. Ok. . Did you enjoy the football under him? Personally I didn’t. Like I didn’t under LJ. However I fully understood that’s what they felt was the best way to get results. Shez first spell, Dowie, and Wellens see it very differently, and their sides reflect this. They also had more relative success. I’d much rather watch their football, but each to their own.
  5. The fact we still talk about him says a lot. . However he doesn’t get anywhere near being our best since JR. He was and is very capable, as many have said he was very good at PR. We bought into his bullshit, and then when we realised he didn’t really mean ‘one club one dream’ it stung. However the football (the bit fans really care about) was for the most part bang average. Apart from the two month spell around Oct/Nov culminating in the 3-0 away win at Rochdale. After that the many faces of Lee Johnson appeared and the wheels fell off. Ive been to 4 games since Wellens took over, and I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed those a lot more than anything Johnson served up. The football is far, far superior. In fact I’d much rather watch a Shez, Dowie, or Wellens side, before LJ. He got results with us in a very similar way to Ronnie Moore did, pragmatic, percentage football. How do we remember Ronnie again. . ?
  6. That’s very reasoned and probably spot on. But fuck it. . E I e I e i o! ?
  7. With this squad, I really think we could finish top 8/9. Still more than enough points to play for. With changes to the squad, probably mid table. Which after our start, and considering our obligatory position for the last ten years would still be some achievement.
  8. I get your point. (I want Corney to go, or to move on etc etc) But the whole ‘where is club going’ is becoming tiresome for us all and getting away from the main event. Which is, the football is cracking. WE ACTUALLY SCORE GOALS. It’s a bit of buzz to go again. We might- just might do something. Its been 10 years since we played anything like this. (shez first spell) I just think the whole point of why we support the team is getting a bit lost in the mystical boardroom drama. We’re 16th after an awful start, we’re 3 points off 9th! ? Let’s all dream, or talk bollocks about very slim play off chances. Otherwise what’s the point?
  9. I’m surprised there’s not more misplaced giddiness at the general direction since Wellens took over. I know we’ll probably finish mid table, which would be great from the start we had. However we’ve been so shit for so long, that any glimmer of hope of doing something (which I think we have) gets me looking at the table. Am am I on my own?
  10. I love our ability to turn a raid on the club, into a whimsical, light hearted, ‘who cares what’s going on, here comes another pun . . . ‘ Over and over again.
  11. Whilst it’s true we’ve had at least one in double figures for the majority of those seasons; sometimes it’s been a midfielder, and rarely has it been a recognised front two. (Apart from Ritchie and Palmer who did it for three seasons) Since them it’s been barren to say the least. These two could be both in double figures by the middle of November if not before. Happy days.
  12. Excellently put. I think his PR has been has truly awful at times. The decision making and way the club has been run, (or left to others to run) has been so bad it’s comical. On the other hand, IMO Corney always tried to back managers. We constantly run squads of 25 plus- even when we were really in the shit. IF (and this is key) the takeover is on a sound footing, and we can move forward then tbf to him he’s done what he set out to do. Keep us going until a good buyer has been found. In the end, we could of done worse and he could of run things better. I’ll call it a draw.
  13. Why on earth would they lock it? Don’t involve yourself in the thread if the discussion isn’t for you.
  14. If recent developments are true, and Abdullah buys Corney out completly, it will end a long association with the club. So how will Corney’s time be remembered?
  15. Yeah, spot on. It’s great watching Doyle, with that air of envitability that he’s going to score. Davies has genuinely surprised me, i knew he’d hold it up but I didn’t think he would be as clinical as he has been. He’s been superb.
  16. IMO your only as good as your strikers. For so many seasons we’ve either had nobody, or one half decent to decent striker. I can’t remember the last time we had two up top who are so dangerous/prolific I’ve watched so many sides over the years who’ve come to BP with a similar strike partnership, an just looked on in envy. If we can keep Doyle in January. I think we’ll do more than ok this year.
